They need new material.
Judd Apatow, writer, producer director behind many raucous comedies, Knocked Up and 40 Year Old Virgin has been dipping his toes into political waters for awhile. He’s one of the driving forces behind “Funny or Die” an increasingly political site. Now he’s adding “stand up comedian” to his resume.
While introducing his new HBO Show “Crashing“, a series developed around the life of stand up comedians, Apatow took his big moment to make lame jokes about Donald Trump and the first family. Sure there is plenty of profanity, but unfortunately it’s all content we’ve heard before.
When Trump was elected, Apatow said, he felt like “a person about to get raped, but I didn’t know how bad it would be.” Now that Trump is president, he added, “I feel like I’ve just been raped and I just don’t know if I’m going to get murdered.”
The L.A. crowd applauded, knowingly.
Soon, he had moved on to the First Family, including Melania Trump, who has refused to even move into the White House. “That’s pretty bad,” he said. “I mean, think about it: Hillary Clinton didn’t move out of the White House and her husband got a b*owjob in it.” As for Melania, he said he “understands” why she’s staying away. “Every day she’s not in the White House is a day she’s not getting fucked by Donald Trump,” Apatow said. “Wouldn’t you stay away?”
You would think a guy who waited 50 years for his chance to do stand up would have more original material. You would be wrong.
Something tells me you won’t see NOW protesting the streets outside of Apatow Productions demanding an apology for “minimizing” sexual assault victims. And you can forget anyone standing up for Melania Trump. He didn’t exactly call her a Hooker, so I guess it’s cool.
I guess Judd Apatow was attempting to be “edgy” as he even brought the President’s 10 year old song into his act.
“He f*cking gets it,” Apatow said of the president’s youngest son. “You ever see the look on his face when Trump’s talking?” he asked, imitating the aloof expression. “People are like, ‘Is there something wrong with him?’ No! He knows his dad’s a f*cking a**hole!”
This apparently passes for comedy in some circles. The Daily Beast called it an “epic stand up set”. To me it sounds a lot more like what I read online every day, nothing new or inventive. Even the insult towards Barron Trump has been done before. Apatow basically stole Rosie O’Donnell’s joke.
The left is trying to hard. Judd Apatow is a perfect example of this.
