Festivus, the fictional holiday, created in a Seinfeld episode has taken on a life of it’s own two decades later. The mythology of Festivus started during an episode of Seinfeld that included tales from George’s childhood. Fans of the show have insured this pop culture phenom isn’t going away, it might be getting more popular as it ages. The Festivus, for the rest of us, comes with it’s own traditions.
Things you need to know about Festivus…
The usual holiday tradition of a tree is manifested in an unadorned aluminum pole, which is in direct contrast to normal holiday materialism. Those attending Festivus may also participate in the “Airing of Grievances” which is an opportunity to tell others how they have disappointed you in the past year, followed by a Festivus dinner, and then completed by the “Feats of Strength” where the head of the household must be pinned.
Best part about Festivus? It’s based on the real life experiences of one of the writers for NBC.
Watch as Festivus was born.
One of the key tenants of Festivus, is the Airing of Grievances, Friday Paul Rand took to twitter to um…”celebrate”.
The Senator from Kentucky, opened his Festivus rant by taking a few shots at the incoming Trump administration.
Stay tuned to celebrate #festivus with me. I got a lot of problems with you and now you're gonna hear about them #HappyFestivus

On the media & #fakenews: Festivus is real, media, so don't try 2 fact check it. And @TheOnion is more accurate than a Brian Williams report

Including a surprising shot at former Texas governor, Rick Perry.
My favorite Cabinet pick is what's his name, umm it's that guy who wanted to eliminate the Dept. of @ENERGY. Hang on I'll think of it…

Sen. Rand Paul continued his #AiringOfGrievances, by going after some seriously wasteful government spending. It’s all fun and games until they raise your taxes again…

The Senator enjoys a good joke as much as the next, but wasn’t amused when some in the Media hastened to write think pieces on his Festivus activities.
For those of you "media" writing serious stories about my Festivus jokes, I don't even know what to say, just stop…#AiringofGrievances pic.twitter.com/Fvw6nKbGp8

Can’t disagree with him there. Rand Paul promised his followers that he would be tweeting more throughout the day. You can follow Rand Paul on Twitter @RandPaul, no word on when he’ll be moving to the “Feats of Strength” but I look forward to him trying to pin the head of his household. Dr. Paul seems spry for his age. Here’s to Festivus Miracles!
