Obama Finds Legal Way Around The 2nd Amendment And Uses It.
|
On Wednesday the Obama administration took its first major step in a plan to ban all firearms in the United States. The Obama administration intends to force gun control and a complete ban on all weapons for US citizens through the signing of international treaties with foreign nations. By signing international treaties on gun control, the Obama administration can use the US State Department to bypass the normal legislative process in Congress. Once the US Government signs these international treaties, all US citizens will be subject to those gun laws created by foreign governments. These are laws that have been developed and promoted by organizations such as the United Nations and individuals such as George Soros and Michael Bloomberg. The laws are designed and intended to lead to the complete ban and confiscation of all firearms. The Obama administration is attempting to use tactics and methods of gun control that will inflict major damage to our 2nd Amendment before US citizens even understand what has happened. Obama can appear before the public and tell them that he does not intend to pursue any legislation (in the United States) that will lead to new gun control laws, while cloaked in secrecy, his Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton is committing the US to international treaties and foreign gun control laws. Does that mean Obama is telling the truth? What it means is that there will be no publicized gun control debates in the media or votes in Congress. We will wake up one morning and find that the United States has signed a treaty that prohibits firearm and ammunition manufacturers from selling to the public. We will wake up another morning and find that the US has signed a treaty that prohibits any transfer of firearm ownership. And then, we will wake up yet another morning and find that the US has signed a treaty that requires US citizens to deliver any firearm they own to the local government collection and destruction center or face imprisonment.
This is not a joke nor a false warning. As sure as government health care will be forced on us by the Obama administration through whatever means necessary, so will gun control.

U.S. reverses stance on treaty to regulate arms trade
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The United States reversed policy on Wednesday and said it would back launching talks on a treaty to regulate arms sales as long as the talks operated by consensus, a stance critics said gave every nation a veto.
The decision, announced in a statement released by the U.S. State Department, overturns the position of former President George W. Bush’s administration, which had opposed such a treaty on the grounds that national controls were better.

The only way around the 2nd amendment is through amending the Constitution.
larueladue (Diary) Saturday, March 27th at 3:03PM EST (link)Foreign treaties and laws do not trump Constitutional rights.
not really
kyle8 (Diary) Saturday, March 27th at 3:28PM EST (link)the courts could just ignore it like they do the fifth, ninth, and tenth amendments, parts of the first amendment, and the takings clause.

But these are radical leftists
medamorphus (Diary) Saturday, March 27th at 3:42PM EST (link)Where in the Constitution do you find the authority for mandates in the Healthcare Bill? Nowhere, yet it’s now law, and a fundamental assault against the Constitution.
Another example:
Obama sat in New York as chairman of the UN Security Council — a first for an American president”
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/09/25/world/
The normal course of business would have U.S. Ambassador to the UN Susan Rice take the gavel. Obama had decided to put HIMSELF in the drivers seat, and presided over global nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament talks.
But, the U.S. Constitution States that:
U.S. Constitution – Article 1 Section 9 – No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince or foreign State.
No U.S. President has ever served as Chairman of the U.N. in it’s 65 year history. The U.N is a foreign state (a collection of foreign states actually). Did Congress grant approval for Obama to receive this title (Chairman of the U.N. Security Council) ? Is it Constitutional for Obama to be President of the United States AND Chairman of the U.N. Security Council at the same time?
No, but Obama did it anyway.
They have an agenda, and these are radical leftists drunk with power. We need to keep our guard up on all fronts.
I agree with you. The specific "rights" to do those things are not there.
larueladue (Diary) Saturday, March 27th at 8:14PM EST (link)However, I think that supposed “jurisdiction” (for lack of a better word) for the things you mentioned are somewhat vague and esoteric to most people.
But taking away people’s rights to own guns, ammunition, etc. is more concrete and will have a serious backlash from the populous. I just don’t think that it would fly, if they really attempt something that radical. Impeachment proceedings would begin shortly… among other things…

If anybody here in NYS wants to know…y’know, just out of curiosity – although you need to register a handgun and get a license for it… they don’t regulate rifles. I’m just saying…
Doesn't a treaty have to be ratified by 2/3rds of the Senate ?
oblio Saturday, March 27th at 3:10PM EST (link)Not withstanding the point by larueladue ?
I think it does...
larueladue (Diary) Saturday, March 27th at 8:09PM EST (link)although I am not sure. But I would suspect that any treaty with a foreign power would have to be ratified by the Senate.
it is 2/3rds majority in the Senate to ratify a treaty
redpens (Diary) Sunday, March 28th at 12:39AM EST (link)wonder if they’ll try to twist arms for that?
Oh my sweet God!
jdw4america (Diary) Saturday, March 27th at 3:32PM EST (link)If they do this, their coup will be complete! They can declare marshall law and forceably take people’s guns away!
Oblio I think you’re right, but…what if they do this before november?
If they outlaw guns
izoneguy (Diary) Saturday, March 27th at 3:37PM EST (link)then only outlaws will have guns
The point cannot be made often enough: Modern liberalism, as embodied in the Obama presidency, is the defender of the status quo. And the status quo is a road to economic ruin. Political forces cannot redistribute the wealth that the economic system does not produce.
I don't think they will get 67 votes
oblio Saturday, March 27th at 3:54PM EST (link)and if they do, they will have to take our ammo first.
And which one would that be, jdw4america? -nt-

I believe treaties trump the constitution

exidore (Diary) Sunday, March 28th at 7:55AM EST (link)Obama to announce that he is adding justices to the Supreme Court so his
hand-picked libs can continue the march towards “European Values”.
Since last Sunday, have been trying to come up with a response to the
direction that our elected representatives have gone in terms of ignoring our
opinion of the Health Care legislation. Here is an idea (connected to this thread).
Maybe it’s time to show our power to this bunch of idiots. How about a million
“armed” (with cardboard replicas ONLY) conservatives showing up on each side of (MD and VA) Washington DC? with the message “act carefully, we are angry, and if we decide to come for you, you can’t stop us, you don’t have enough” ……..
Don’t think they would ignore that, but also not sure what any unintended consequences there could be, that isn’t within my ability to figure out.
