More on Scott Brown, and I think I may be in love.

Oh, that’s quite good. Promoted from diaries. – Moe Lane

If he doesn’t pull out a win in Massachusetts I’m gonna pull out all the stops to get him to move to Arizona.

His website is here

You can contribute here… even if John Cornyn won’t. Or especially since John Cornyn won’t.

And finally, you can volunteer – EVEN if you don’t live in Massachusetts, you can make calls for Scott – here.

Why are we not hearing more about this guy?

Will his message resonate…in Massachusetts? Are people so bummed by the Democrats that they won’t be moved to vote in January?

What are his chances?

I think his mesage will resonate

Remeber, about 50% of massachusetts voters are unenroled (i.e. independent). If he can pull 2/3s of them he might have a chance. My mom who is a Democrat is pretty upset and she might vote for him.

It sounds like he needs cash and people to man the phones to get out the vote. If he gets that I think there is a good possibility.

Also, there is a kenedy on the ballot (not related we are often reminded by the media.) It is possible people might vote for kenedy by mistake and take votes from Coakley.

Haven’t seen much on Redstate about him and hadn’t heard about him until about 3 days ago.

Three days ago.

All the stars need to be aligned. Its an extreme long shot. But its a risk-reward thing. A typical november election he has no shot.

Here is something I posted from November with a non-campaign video.

Good guy. Good Senator. Decent Republican. Any other time, he might get shot done around here, but right now the whole country needs him. He can single handedly kil ObamaCare.

I had to watch it twice, it was so good. Simple, direct, to the point, and evocative of Mass.’s political heritage in a non-counterproductive way. I really hope this guy pulls it off.

but when I clicked to send my contribution along, I kept getting error messages that my email was incorrect, which I don’t believe it was, I then called the phone number at the website but there was no answer. It is hard to understsnd why no on would be in the offive in the middle of the afternoon only less than three weeks to election. I’m guessing it will be a close vote and the Democratic machine in Mass will tie things up in knots for at least as long as the Franken-Coleman debacle. The difference here is that they got an interim Dem in place, so they will be looking to delay it indefinitely if Coakley doesn’t win.

And then once they do approve it, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Kerry leading a charge to have Reid hold off installing Brown until a thorough investigation can be conducted by the Senate.

Reality-based punditry

clintonformccain Wednesday, December 30th at 7:19PM EST (link)

I don’t mean to rain on Brown’s parade, but he has no chance against Coakley. This is Massachusetts. Coakley is a strong candidate, born in a western Mass mill town. Career prosecutor. Positioning herself with the blue collar Boston dems (as opposed to the Haaavaaad dems) for years. She has the very strong support of the PUMA Clinton dems, which is where a Republican would have to look to slap a Kerry or a Princess Caroline.

Brown is in this race to raise his name recognition for a more promising contest down the road, maybe the governor’s race against Duval Patrick. Right now, he is better known in the state for his daughter on American Idol than for his political profile.

If this election were being held in November

mbecker908 (Diary) Wednesday, December 30th at 10:42PM EST (link)

I’d agree with you. Now it’s a given that Brown is a mega-longshot. But I think he has a shot at a win for several reasons.

1. January special election, nothing else on the ballot that I know of.
2. Turnout will be slightly lower than for a kindergarten rendition of the 12th Night.
3. If the weather is bad, turnout will be even lower and it IS Mass in Jan.
4. Dems may assume (voters not pols) that she’s a shoo in and not bother to show up.
5. There is a Kennedy on the ballot. He’s not a factor but he may siphon off a few votes. MA voters are generally a DUMB lot, look who they’ve repeatedly elected.

Coakley is a “moderate Dem” and I’m a communist. (And I know you didn’t say she is, but that’s the resume you typed out.)

6. Vladimir's kid is home from college & won't vote. nt

Because, as we all know, it’s forbidden for a conservative to use J.F.K.’s actual words about the tax reductions that worked.

Standard-bearer for grouchy curmudgeonry since, oh, 1975 or so.

Funny thing about tax cuts

aesthete (Diary) Thursday, December 31st at 1:24AM EST (link)

is that tax cuts are considered a good form of fiscal stimulus by most Keynesians, while lower taxes in general are favored by classical economists. The only debate among economists is as to their level of effectiveness in a “boom” period, what types of taxes to cut for the most effect, and their effectiveness relative to other policies, not whether or not they work. Tax cuts are a great issue to hammer the Dems on, esp, in relation to their deficit spending.

CarolT (Diary) Wednesday, December 30th at 7:48PM EST (link)

Last month there was a link here with dems apologizing to Pres. & Mrs. Bush and Dick Cheney. I went to the website to read entire apology. These men are dems from Chicago, they were originally for Hillary and then got a lot of abuse from others in Chicago because they supported McCain & Palin rather than Obama.

I check that webisite once a week or so. Yesterday they endorsed Scott Brown over Martha Coakley, despite them liking her etc and being a dem, to get a republican in the Senate that will not vote for Obamacare and Cap & Tax.

I’m sure most of you know Coakley has all the unions supporting her and the likes of Emily’s list. I heard Scott on Laura Ingraham mention that she is supported by Emily’s list this morning.

He is running all over the state trying to get this job. I hear of him or hear him on the radio almost every day.

Bing or Google “Fells Acres case” it is the true story of “child abuse” in MA where an entire family was ruined by false accusations. It was never proven, they served jail time for many years. It started in the mid 1980s if I remember correctly.

Then acting Jane Swift was going to pardon Tookie Armirault in 2001 or 2002, I’m not sure when but Coakley stopped her from signing it. I’m sorry I know I misspelled Tookie’s last name.

Thank you for trying to help us in Massachusetts!

I know everyone thinks we are the loony left of the universe.
Yes is true we are the home of Harvard that gave us Larry Summers.
Now everyone knows how smart he is.The same goes for Martha
Coakley the AG who wants to be US senator. Unlike our
Reputation most of us are not loony lefties and do not pay
Attention what Harvard or the Boston Globe preaches.
Like everyone else we do care about everyday life and
we had enough with Obomi & Co also Gov Patrick.
Don’t be surprise if you hear an earthquake in DC on Jan 19th.
We will bury the health care monster along side Teddy
Once and for all.
We need all the help we can get.

Brown's winning on lawn signs

massreddog Thursday, December 31st at 2:13PM EST (link)

For whatever it is worth… As I drive around Massachusetts, I see 10 times as many Brown lawn signs as I see for Coakley… I don’t know if Brown can win, but I do think he is close enough that he may well pull an upset.

If you can,

https://www.icontribute.us/scottbrown

http://brownforussenate.com/

but most of all we need more involvement so email as pass this around NOW!

We have less then 20 days, no more being a keyboard cowboy, time to come out of your comfort zone, the time is now to show some fight. This is war and we have many battles ahead and if it is one small victory at a time then so be it. We need every victory we can get to win the war and this in turn gives us a chance to continue the war. Even if we have no chance of winning a battle we must use every effort in to it to exhaust our enemy. Yes, we are seemingly against the odds and in that, it is important to put up a good fight in every battle. We must take what we can and hold on to every bit of ground we capture, one step at a time. Please make the distinction that I did call this a WAR because that is exactly what it is, the rules change. In war, there is no being politically correct and morality is often a liability, some may not like this fact but that is war. However, there are some rules that we must follow, we must fight from the moral high ground, and protect it, and take back every bit of ground we can. It is my opinion that every step is worth a fight no mater how small it may be, and each step gets larger as we go, and this in turn leads to leaps and bounds. Therein I must fight for my liberty and freedom, even if it a minuscule amount, I am taking it back now for every bit I do not fight for may be lost forever, that is what war is.

National debt over $12,400,000,000,000.00 debt per person $38,171.00 spending this year YTD $2,591,000,000,000.00 spending per person $8,432.00 next add in the unfunded liabilities Medicare/Medicaid $40,000,000,000,000.00 Social Security $11,000,000,000,000.00 Prescription Drug $9,000,000,000,000.00 Unfunded Liabilities per person $191,863.00. Then add in the healthcare bill is a guess at $1,400,000,000,000.00 and has $17,000,000,000,000.00 in Unfunded Liabilities. You can likely multiply this by ten to get the true cost. The cap and tax bill is another $145,000,000,000,000.00 bill to stop global warming that is turning out to be a big fraud. The Est. Currency and Credit Derivatives (toxic assets) $645,000,000,000,000.00, how much of this are we going to pay? They just passed another $1,000,000,000,000.00 spending bill. Lastly you can add in the state and town taxes, are you keeping up with how costly this hype and change is costing all of us? It is costing us our jobs and our future, we cannot afford another party line, tax and spend liberal. Look around and you can see Massachusetts is hurting for a new direction…

Yes there is a chance, forget the polls, talking to the people here in W/Mass I can honestly say they are fed-up with the taxes, lack of good paying jobs and looking ridicules. Scott Brown is staying away from the social issues that seem to be turning off some conservatives but is strong on fiscal responsibility. In some of the most liberal towns out here, they have passed tax overrides, barely and that has the unenrolled/independents mad as hell and some of the liberals wondering. This is the tipping point and we have a chance of getting a Republican Senator elected. A battle over funding for veterans has pushed many past the tipping point of tolerating the liberals out this way and they are fighting mad as hell.

The majority of MA Tea Partiers...

GOPMOM Thursday, December 31st at 3:16PM EST (link)

are stepping to support Scott as well. 200+ of us re having breakfast with him tomorrow – to hear from him, ask questions and tell him our mission and how he can win our support. Then, we go to work.

As someone who has been on board this campaign since day 2, I can tell you that support statewide over the last week has exploded. This means the DNC will go nuclear on Scott. We could use help. Send in a few $ but also sing up to make calls from home. The calls are making the difference – no one is going door to door.

FYI on Martha’s union ties – the union workers that are out of work are abandoning her across the state. Earlier this fall, she had them showing up at events for half a day’s pay. Only problem was, they were not invited inside to run elbows with the Beacon Hill types. This did not go over well. Combine that with the SEIU local union email flap (prohibited email sent to 7,500 members) and the unions have disappeared. (The Brown campaign filed a complaint asking for the maximum penalty of 10K fine per email = $75 million in fines.)

This election could go either way but momentum is building on Brown’s side. Conservatives, Indies and even many Democrats are determined to take back MA from the elite progressives who raised our taxes this year just as they cut local aid. This is the perfect payback. Of course it does not help Coakley that Dems keep calling it the Kennedy seat. It’s the people’s seat and we’re ready to take it back..

CarolT (Diary) Thursday, December 31st at 10:01PM EST (link)

Thank you Gopmom for the info that the unions are abandoning Coakley. I can understand why it wouldn’t go over well that they weren’t invited to the Beacon Hill events. Way to go Martha.

I just read over on Red Mass Group that Scott has raised over $600,000 this month, most of it in the last week. Thank you everyone.

I know unenrolled people that took the dem primay vote to vote against Coakley and Capuano. I live in Everett, there were Capuano signs all over the place, I have the only Brown sign around.
