I think the TAGS noted under the headline pretty much say it all.

From Politico

Sen. Lindsey Graham working with Sen. John Kerry on climate bill
TAGS: John McCain, Climate Bill, John Kerry, Joe Lieberman, Barbara Boxer, Carbon Emissions, New York Times, Lamar Alexander, Nuclear Power, Lindsay Graham

“Our partnership represents a fresh attempt to find consensus that adheres to our core principles and leads to both a climate change solution and energy independence,” the two senators wrote in The New York Times. “It begins now, not months from now — with a road to 60 votes in the Senate.”

Graham’s support is a major win for climate supporters, who are seeking Republican support for climate legislation. [...]

The Democratic Caucus is split over the climate bill, with Rust Belt senators fearing that the legislation could hurt industry and consumers in their region. The divide among Democrats means supporters will most likely need Republican votes to overcome a Senate filibuster.

In the world of things that piss me off, this is pretty near the top of the list. Note the TAGS. Both Graham and McCain and both of the bast**ds are pretty much unbeatable.

The Republican Party in DC seems to be having real problems these days doing any number of things. But finding a replacement for Arlen Specter doesn’t seem to be one of them. Do we have any real leadership in the Senate? Anybody? Has even one Senator spoken up to note their regret at voting for Obama’s AG? Where’s the outrage people?

Tuesday is payday at our house. Direct deposit hits the account at 9:00pm MST and at 9:01 I’ve $50.00 each headed for Pat Toomey and Marco Rubio. These two guys are our reason for being hopeful.

NO legitimate Republican or conservative could find a concensus

Achance (Diary) Sunday, October 11th at 1:38PM EST (link)

that adheres to core principles with a John Kerry or ANY other elected Democrat these days. The only reason to ever ask a Democrat to reach across the aisle is because their hand is too far away to bite.

Or cut off

Raven (Diary) Monday, October 12th at 11:19PM EST (link)

I’d really rather not put one of those things in my mouth.

Come to think of it, I’d buy a cheap hatchet or something for the cutting. That’s too nasty a job for my sword.

We still have a ways to go.

McCain, Graham, Alexander, Cornyn (NRSC). As long as this sort of thing continues we will struggle to hang this mess solely on the Democrats.

As for those states that keep re-electing these folks,

Quick question

Why do you want to get rid of John Cornyn?

We need to elect enough actual conservatives

to render these two idiots irrelevant. That’s why a guy in Las Vegas continues to contribute to conservative candidates across the country. McCain, Graham and the rest of the value-deficient RINOs must go. And soon.

No, what we "should" do is return to appointment of Senators

by the various state legislatures. That insures that State interests are the paramount concern of Senators. Direct election of Senators insured the growth of the Federal Government.

It's a lot easier to replace State legislators

Raven (Diary) Monday, October 12th at 11:21PM EST (link)

And it would also bring more attention TO the State legislatures. Something that has been sadly lacking for the last few decades.

What Raven said, plus...

mbecker908 (Diary) Monday, October 12th at 11:29PM EST (link)

when keeping your job becomes a function of keeping the STATEWIDE elected officials happy, in other words by NOT transferring power from the state to DC and by NOT forcing mandates on the state, life in DC changes a whole bunch. It also doesn’t make a whit of difference if a Senator can raise money because they won’t be campaigning.

If McCain wasn’t up for re-election this year…the headline would be:

Sen. John McCain working with Sen. John Kerry on climate bill

This is so transparent it’s pathetic

from what I’ve read elsewhere on this, the compromise that has been talked about does at least pay lip service to our objectives at this point. And if they make it in the final bill, I could be happy.

No Cap and Trade
Expanded nuclear power availability
expanded natural gas
utilizing our own oil

If the bill significantly follows those 4 criteria, I could be okay with letting this administration throw money down whatever drains they want. They are gonna spend anyways and be blamed for the deficit anyways, so why not get a few of our goals advanced in the process.
