If you have a prisoner whom you are sure has knowledge of an imminent 9/11, you can only ask him politely to help you while conducting an interview with reps of Red Crescent, CAIR, and the ACLU present. You can’t do anything “harsh” because you can’t prove that some other method wouldn’t have worked.

So why was the “imminent” label used to allow the SEALs to waste the pirates? How do we know that some other method wouldn’t have worked? Shouldn’t he go back and charge the SEALs with murder, and also nail the chain of command (except the CinC since he’s infallible of course).

In my part of the South, it is most definitely a racial slur. I realized what it meant immediately, but mbecker gets a pass from me as he is from AZ.

The CNC is totally clueless about handling anything remotely resembling a crisis.
God help us if there is another major attack.

Sounds as though Command stretched the ROE in order to resolve this thing, no thanks to the Obamanation.

Seriously, lawn jockeys? Seen them painted white and black and brown growing up in SC……. non starter.

On Scene Commander… “A++”
SEALs… “Pass”

Now let me be clear, this is an argument about the number of angels on the head of a pin after we get past the CinC grade. I graded the SEALs as I did because IMO their job – and in general the job of all military “shooters” – is a P/F situation. And while the risk to life and limb is very real, the risk to a career is minimal. OTOH, the OSC is guy who really took the “risk” in this instance.

Let’s face it, a group of SEALs v a group of barely armed, untrained pinheads is hardly the stuff of action movies. And the situation realistically posed no tactical or strategic problem, the only real “problem” here was “political” not military and that’s why it took six plus days to sort it out. Were it simply a military situation, it would have been over about 10 minutes after they pulled the SEALs out of the water. And, frankly, if they have Marines on board, it could have been over within a couple of hours of coming on-scene. The only one in the mix who REALLY put his butt on the line was the OSC when he made the determination that the Captain’s life was “in imminent danger”. Had something gone awry – or if CinC just didn’t like him taking the initiative – his career is over. And that remains to be seen.

As far as the howling about the lawn jockeys, I think some folks are being niggardly.

It went out to veterans’ groups’ email lists, because my hubby got a copy. Not only do vets and the active military call BHO “BHO,” but they call our enemies “raggies.” I notice no one here is having a fit over those. We have a selectively PC crowd here…

Does anyone actually know where “lawn jockey” comes from and what it means? I grew up in SoCal and l.j.’s were popular in Beverly Hills, but all gardeners in SoCal are illegal Mexicans as far as I know. Just sayin’. The whole issue is strange.
