It seems almost everything that gets written in that magazine is agenda driven, whats more its usually very very hard to spot players without a program and a scorecard.

P.S. this isn’t an indictment of liberal bias just an observation of what appears to be bought and paid for journalism.

As to getting TARPed, I don’t much care since there’s nothing I can do about it.

With respect to the Congressional Republicans I am actually rather encouraged that they would – almost unanimously with the exception of the “usual suspects”, several of whom got their asses kicked into oblivion last month – kill this sucker, and buck the White House in doing so.

If Mitch can exercise any kind of unity/discipline he may do really good stuff in the next two years.

With respect to GWB peeing on us, he’s pretty much been doing that for the last eight years. The good news is we don’t have to put up with McCain doing the same thing, at least at the same level.

Considering he has destroyed the Republican party, the conservative movement, and the fiscal stability of the nation, Then I would say certainly not.

Yes, I know, he didn’t do all that by himself, He had help. but it doesn’t matter. He will be remembered by history as another Herbert Hoover, and Obama will be another FDR.

That’s the way it will be spun no matter what. And guess what? He is similar to Herbert Hoover, a well meaning man, who believed in big government, who had no vision, and no strong conservative core beliefs.

First of all, I supported, with a clothespin firmly planted on my nose, John McCain. I will not be happy at all when Obama starts naming not just SCOTUS justices, but appellate and lower court judges and they blow through the Senate like grease through a goose.

I’m not one bit happy about our current state of affairs. But I’m also clearheaded enough to understand that if it weren’t for GWB acting like a liberal Democrat when he drafted domestic legislation and refused to veto anything but stem cell research funding, if weren’t for GWB developing and pursuing the correct foreign policies but then refusing to defend them from lies and worse, and if it weren’t for GWB basically mailing in his last four years we wouldn’t be in the mess we’re in.

Has President Bush done some good stuff? You bet. His willingness to go to war in both Afghanistan and especially Iraq has kept aQ etal busy for the last five or so years and we’ve not experienced another attack on our soil. He’s given us – reluctantly in one case – two potentially excellent SCOTUS justices.

And then there’s the rest of the story. Which I’ve been through more times than I can count and I’m not getting into specifics with this post. Bottom line, when all is said and done it would appear that his negatives outweigh his positives by a huge amount as he leaves office. I wish him well in his retirement, but the mess he’s left us with from the economy, to opening the door for the federal government to bail out any entity that has mismanaged it’s affairs (state and local governments are next), to the virtual destruction (thankfully not the complete destruction) of the conservative movement in the US, is all on his plate.

George W. Bush has been a pathetic and terrible President, arguably the worst of my lifetime (since Truman). And the parallels with Truman’s place in history I think will not be borne out, rather he will be wrestling with Jimmy Carter for last place.

I was on the Reco-Group of many of the items in the Reco-list… I withdrew recos of many of them, cuz the list was broken for so long and even now it seems stuck… I withdrew cuz I too feel it’s time for some others to filter up (if some pull some reco’s off others might finally filter up)… but hey, that’s just me… not saying anything about the worthiness of the reads, just that they’ve definitely already had the days in the sun!

George Bush done went and just gave away the farm. He didn’t even sell it.

Maybe in 30 or 40 years somebody might be able to crab together a different perspective, but certainly for the next decade or two GWB will be remembered as the guy who tanked the economy, killed what was left of the concept of “free markets”, kept the UAW alive and refused to defend his policies against scurrilous attacks and lies from Democrats and the Media. He is the guy who gave us Barrack Obama.

You are way in the minority in terms of your kool aid inspired attacks in defense of the indefensible.

For as long as President Bush keeps acting like a liberal Democrat.

With respect to the issues, like we could have gotten effectively a prepackaged BK with blackletter concessions from the UAW for a whole lot less money (GM really only needed about $3B, Chrysler’s owners have more cash than they know what to do with and Ford doesn’t need anything now) and all GWB’s done is move the goal post into the next administration where we’ll get absolutely nothing.

If you and gc don’t like me taking GWB to task over this – yet another example of his total lack of leadership – take it up with all of the Republican Congressional leadership.

Republican leaders across the board have let loose on President Bush’s auto industry bailout in what may be some of the toughest GOP criticism of the Bush presidency.

John McCain is leading the way, saying it is “unacceptable that we would leave the American taxpayer with a tab of tens of billions of dollars while failing to receive any serious concessions from the industry.””

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, House GOP leader John Boehner and a cast of other angry fiscal conservatives have also rained criticism on the president.

I have to say I am not ashamed President Bush has destroyed my faith with his bailouts and the fearmongering that he engaged in and yet two weeks passed and all of his chicken little the sky is falling never came to frutition and now his guy is not evening telling conservatives in Congress who asked where and how this money is being spent are telling us the American people to basically go screw ourselves.

WE know that we conservatives hold our politicians to a higher standard than the Democrats and he has let us down domestically time and again…..I know you know the whole list of unconservative bills and attempted bills that he has tried to throw down our throats. Could the title have been more nicer sure but the sentiment is the diary is sound. It is the lay down and shut up and accept whatever Republicans throw at us that has enraged us so!

I applaud his keeping us safe and would never demean his love of country but he is definitely the anti-Reagan and he learned nothing from watching the Reagan Presidency…..he is a compassionate conservative which is a liberal with social programs who happened to be a great Commander in Chief but a liberal none the less when it came to domestic policiy. I am sorry if you are offended but I am not sorry that he is being called out!
