The world’s verdict will be harsh if the US rejects the man it yearns for…

President of THE WORLD!!!!!

With a tip of the hat to Mark Steyn, the smartest guy in Canada, from The Guardian…

The feeling is familiar. I had it four years ago and four years before that: a sinking feeling in the stomach. It’s a kind of physical pessimism which says: “It’s happening again. The Democrats are about to lose an election they should win – and it could not matter more.”

Jonathan Freedland in The Guardian, actually, he’s writing from TheMotherShip™ about Barack and our position in the world.

If [McCain wins], what will be the reaction? Yes, blue-state America will go into mourning once again, feeling estranged in its own country. A generation of young Americans – who back Obama in big numbers – will turn cynical, concluding that politics doesn’t work after all. And, most depressing, many African-Americans will decide that if even Barack Obama – with all his conspicuous gifts – could not win, then no black man can ever be elected president.

But what of the rest of the world? This is the reaction I fear most. For Obama has stirred an excitement around the globe unmatched by any American politician in living memory. Polling in Germany, France, Britain and Russia shows that Obama would win by whopping majorities, with the pattern repeated in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America. If November 4 were a global ballot, Obama would win it handsomely. If the free world could choose its leader, it would be Barack Obama.

~~snip~~

If Americans choose McCain, they will be turning their back on the rest of the world, choosing to show us four more years of the Bush-Cheney finger. And I predict a deeply unpleasant shift.

Until now, anti-Americanism has been exaggerated and much misunderstood: outside a leftist hardcore, it has mostly been anti-Bushism, opposition to this specific administration. But if McCain wins in November, that might well change. Suddenly Europeans and others will conclude that their dispute is with not only one ruling clique, but Americans themselves. For it will have been the American people, not the politicians, who will have passed up a once-in-a-generation chance for a fresh start – a fresh start the world is yearning for.

~~snip~~

what does that say about today’s America, that the world’s esteem is now unwanted? If Americans reject Obama, they will be sending the clearest possible message to the rest of us – and, make no mistake, we shall hear it.

Lemme think about this one… Hmmmm. And hmmmm again.

OK, I’ve thought it over. Tell ya what Johnnyboy,

Got that?

Let me make it real clear for you. You want to hate us? OK. You deal with the Russians. You deal with the Iranians. When Islamic terrorists blow your pathetic little countries to their knees, go cry to someone else.

About 700,000 American servicemen gave their lives in the last century so you Eurotrash wouldn’t be speaking German. The US Military and Ronald Reagan/Maggie Thatcher made it possible for you to escape the Russian Bear. Remember the Iron Lady? She was the last Brit with balls. And brains.

So, defend yourselves. See if you can muster up a EuroArmy. Maybe this time we won’t bail your ungrateful butts out. Buy a prayer rug. Learn Arabic. Go to Hell.

And hey, if you want the Obamessiah so bad, after McCain & Palin skin him and leave him for the wolves, haul his ass to Europe and make him President of the EU.

Don’t call us chump. We’ll call you. Not.

this one came out today as well. Seems that the world press is getting in on the U.S. Obamedia game.

My position on this? If “the world” doesn’t like what we’re doing, then we must be doing the right thing.

Nice!
Believe me that is what I say.
Let’s give BHO a new job.

The point cannot be made often enough: Modern liberalism, as embodied in the Obama presidency, is the defender of the status quo. And the status quo is a road to economic ruin. Political forces cannot redistribute the wealth that the economic system does not produce.

Kudos Mike, well said. They’d be incensed if we interferred in their elections.

And if they think this kind of thing helps Obama …

hold on

The world’s “anti-Americanism has been exaggerated and much misunderstood…” and he goes on to write that it’s all President Bush’s fault.

But, if we American’s don’t elect Obama, then the whole world is going to hate each and every one of us? Really?
Why do I not think so?

I asked this question a little while ago, and I think it was misunderstood, so I’ll try again: How diverse is the “world’s” elected leadership? Forget the world, just England, France and Germany. How many minorities have those countries elected Prime Minister, President or Chancellor?

Why is the impetus on America? If it’s because this country is the “leader of the free world” well, maybe there’s a reason for that. It’s quite possible this country did a few things right along the way, during its short history, and maybe, just maybe, the rest of the world would do better to leave well enough alone. We’ll elect whomever we damn well please.

Thanks 'Beck. That needed sayin'.

Ditto what bs said.

“If “the world” doesn’t like what we’re doing, then we must be doing the right thing.”

“Whenever the legislators endeavor to take away and destroy the property of the people, or to reduce them to slavery under arbitrary power, they put themselves into a state of war with the people, who are thereupon absolved from any farther obedience, and are left to the common refuge which God hath provided for all men against force and violence.”

Obama's Media

angels16 Wednesday, September 10th at 2:36AM EST (link)

Is it me, or is anyone else sick of seeing Obama all over the headlines? The liberal mainstream media, even in Yahoo land, are putting news articles up everywhere, and it is ridiculous. They don’t do that for the Republican ticket. For example, on an article on suicide (what Obama’s campaign is facing) there were several articles off to the side with Obama’s picture, but no McCain article to match. That is BS, and there is no two ways to slice it. I for one no longer trust the media, and I can’t believe I did. The media think they know what is best for Americans, rather than let Americans choose for themselves.
Obama was trying to talk himself out of a hole again, trying to say McCain is not about change, when he has a record of reform in Washington. Obama says he is for change, but has no record to show for it. So it’s Obama who is just words. Again, he is saying everything that McCain has said about Obama, and it’s quite sad that the lad can’t think for himself. Instead he follows what the experienced Senator says. If Obama where to get into office, he would not know what to do. In that case, you may as well put Biden in front of Obama. It’s Pathetic…and then to attack Palin, it’s disgusting.

With any luck they'll kick us out of the UN

Why do they yearn for Obama?

Nutz Wednesday, September 10th at 5:49AM EST (link)

Why do Europeans and the rest of the world yearn for Obama? Simple. They want the only superpower on the planet to be neutered, making Europe and the U.N. more relevant on the world stage. Despite his recent campaign rhetoric, they see Obama for what he truly is, fully beholden to the values of the radical far left in the U.S. that have the same objectives.

Obviously, with the collapse of the Red Army, Europeans now feel relatively safe from invasion. They also fail to recognize, or take seriously, the threat from radical Islam. They do not see the need for a strong USA. Considering the ten thousand, or so, years of armed conflict in the history of the world and the catalyst for unrest provided by unrestrained world population growth putting intense pressure on limited in resources (e.g. land, oil, water), this is extremely short-sighted, false, sense of security.

America, stay strong, vote for McCain-Palin.

I will consider the worlds opinion when I vote just as soon as

Please don't tar us all with the same brush

suaveybloke Saturday, September 13th at 12:04PM EST (link)

Greetings from London.

As I say, please don’t tar us all with the same brush. Freedland is a buffoon with an over-inflated opinion of himself. The Guardian “newspaper” has one of the lowest circulations in Britain so can hardly be be taken too seriously.

Believe me, some of us here in the Old Country are full square behind McCain and the unbelievably hot Ms Palin and pray for a comprehensive thrashing of “St Obama” in November.

It is true that a majority in continental Europe and Britain probably want Obama to win; however this is down to:

  1. a liberal-biased media (esp.the BBC) polluting the airwaves with praise and worship for The One;

  2. the cumulation of many decades of socialism and anti-Americanism infecting people’s brains;

  3. and a failure to approach America’s actions with an open mind – i.e. not taking a moment or two to try and see things from the US’s point of view.

America doesn’t always get it right (which country ever has?). But if things were left to the UN and/or the EU the world would be a much unsafer and less free place.

Britain has lost its way – we are currently encumbered with one of the worst Prime Ministers in modern history. But some of us love America, love the ideals she stands for, and will continue to defend her vigorously!

Cheers!
Jonny

You're exempt.

mbecker908 (Diary) Saturday, September 13th at 12:15PM EST (link)

I know Freedland’s opinion isn’t “universal”, but it is widely accepted and almost universal within the corridors of EU governments.

Personally, I love Britain. Spent lots of time there and have always been welcomed and treated wonderfully. I must say though, in the last decade or so you folks have lost your compass. I can’t understand it and it’s cause for mourning.

I hear what you are saying, it’s easy to assume that an entire country shares an opinion, when that opinion is the only one you ever hear. Alot of my friends believe that the rest of the world dislikes America, so it’s always a shock to learn that that isn’t entirely true. The ones who think so have never left the country. I have been overseas several times while in the military, including Iraq. From my experience, most people love America (atleast it’s military members).

That said, not many Americans put world opinion very high on our “I give a crap” list.

And welcome to RedState – and thank you for your support.

London is my favorite city in the entire universe. I was there (probably my 5th or 6th trip there) back in January, but wound up spending the entire week at the Renaissance at Heathrow. I did get to Chiswick and visited some pubs around the area – was particularly partial to Fullers ESB… :-)

I just installed a BBC widget on my Mac, so I’ll be listening for the Obama bias on the air.

Strength is our Blessing!

StrongProud Saturday, September 13th at 2:13PM EST (link)

Good posting Beck! On the world stage, Obama shows disrespect for his own country ie quote from Obama “As I’ve said about the flag pin, I don’t want to be perceived as taking sides,”
Obama said. “There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression”. “The national anthem itself conveys a war-like message”. “You know, the bombs bursting in air and all”. “It should be swapped for something less parochial and less bellicose”. “I like the song, I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing”. “If that were our anthem, then I “might” salute it”. WHAAAAAAT!!!!!Yes, ladies and gentlemen, do we really want this candidate to be our “Commander in Chief”! I am an American like millions of others who have served their country in honor! Obama, I don’t know who’s side your on but Americans are not the war mongers you claim them to be! We believe that a “strong nation” is a leader that should offer help to less fortunate nations in the time of need. Obama,
we have come to the aid of and allied with many other nations of the world in critical times of need.If it had not been the “strength of our resolve as a nation” coupled with the support of our allies, mad men such as Hitler might still be in power! Don’t ever put down this country that I love!! God bless America!! Our strength is our Blessing!! Independent and veteran for McCain/Palin!! By the way, Palin you are a wonderful “executive” person and a true “patriot”!
