Michael Calderone in the Politio (July 30th) cites reporter Lynn Sweet, who claims that her Gates question at Obama’s news conference – where this whole thing erupted – was allegedly NOT staged. I, for one, am highly skeptical, since the Main Stream Media has near zero credibility any more.

But whether or not the question was staged for Obama, what it does raise is the question – how much of Obama’s poor judgement in matters great and small do we NOT know about, where he himself is “acting stupidly” in many daily, hourly decisions? In how many more situations does he have knee-jerk reactions to events or challenges before knowing all the facts? This is one of the main reasons that his poll numbers are dropping rapidly – the mask is off through incidents like the Gates episode (and, before the election, with Joe the Plumber). The more flashes of insight that we get into “the real Obama,” the less likable or trustworthy he appears.

He has never been in charge of anything! He does not understand what it takes to manage people, let alone govern. Being an elected representative alone does not qualify as leadership. Heck, he would have benefited greatly from being the manager of restaurant for a year or two as opposed to being a “community organizer.” (If anyone ever figures out what that is, please let me know.) The fact that he just tosses his “hallmark” bills over to the Congressional Democrats for them to screw up is the key indicator of his utter incompetence as a leader.

To be fair, the man probably has strengths in other areas. But whatever those may be, they clearly do not help him govern.

they never really apologize personally. Instead its something like, “I’m sorry that some people took offense for what I said.” As long as they have the word sorry in the sentence they think they are OK. This was the way Durbin apologized for his derogatory comments about or troops, if I remember it correctly.

Also, if this event was just a get together where three guys could patch things up, why was it in a place where it could be televised? Why not just go into one of the many private rooms in the WH and discuss their problems over a beer or two? No, this was nothing more than a not so clever publicity stunt (or as Mr. Impomeni would say – a stupid one) and I think people will so it that way.

His real agenda–socialism–and inexperience shows with every goofy decision he makes. It looks like there is a real revolt against healthcare and all this spending. The independents that voted for him didn’t sign up for this. I doubt he will get their vote again.

The whole point is nicely summed up ion your statement:

Incredibly, unable to admit his mistake, Obama first doubled down on his remarks, then had Crowley and Gates to the White House for a beer, thereby guaranteeing another week of bad press from the incident.

Every single one of these incidents wouldn’t be the dark cloud they are if Obama…(or any other Democrat for that matter), were capable of admitting error…It’s what drove me absolutely insane about Slick Willy…no matter how many times he fell on his enormous nose…there was always an excuse…or a Republican to blame….and if that failed…a friend he could throw under the bus…Barry is no different and the coming years will bear it out!
