I didn't know how Republicans were going to handle having a convention during a catastrophic event. It didn't occur to me they would simply attend to the catastrophe and give the Demonrats no fodder to shoot back at them. I am glad I switched parties more and more everyday.

Unsupported allegations of prayer for a hurricane? Check.

Completely inhuman callousness with respect to a big hurricane bearing down on some people? Check.

A complete lack of good faith in posting? Check.

Registered to spread the Obama message of elitist disregard for people who live on the gulf coast? Check.

Get out and don't come back or I'll tell your mother you're using the family server to harass people.

If we do not hold the convention when we've scheduled it, in some minimal fashion at least, we will not be able to gather the delegates and have a nominee.

I'd like to at least contest this election, so the convention must go on, at least a technical, minimal convention anyway.

The funny thing is, only one obscure pastor "prayed for rain" during Obama's coronation.

And the irony is: Mac and the GOP are handling the hurricane situation superbly, garnering praise even from Dems like Lanny Davis.

a rainstorm that causes a speech to be cancelled is equally as serious as a hurricane that kills people and destroys homes and businesses.

Liberals. Some day maybe they'll get a clue.

Before and during the Democratic Convention, I remember hearing conservatives around Colorado were praying for rain on Obama. I guess God doesn't roll that way.

Mon: Cancel most events, have Mac and Palin available for interviews ONLY discussing the hurricane and relief efforts.

Tues: Make the convention into a telethon for fundraising for the relief efforts.

Wed: Get rid of all "minor" speeches. Have the keynote address, followed by Palin speaking live in St. Paul.

Thurs: Get rid of "minor" speeches, have Mac speak by satellite from New Orleans, with rescue workers behind him.

Undecideds only care about the Thurs. & Fri. speeches anyway. This scenario is a heckuva winner.

I wish they too could postpone it. Jindal, Bush, Laura, and so many other great speakers won't attend now.

It really stinks Jindal can't speak he so would of helped us.

Why could they not have this pushed back some and have VP speech Sunday night and McCain speak Monday night the 8th? I am willing to bet more people would watch on Sunday and Monday night anyways.

I feel awful for people in Gulf Coast it does stink but we are going to miss having our fun as the Dems did.

Dear Mr. Mccain,
I have a suggestion on how to handle the Gustav situation. You (and everyone who was going to attend the republican convention, from represntatives to reporters) can go down to New Orleans to volunteer and help out after the damage from the storm. That is a whole army of volunteers who could make a difference and help out. Not only does it show you would handle things differently than george bush, but it would also do some good. Be the leader I know you are and take the week off from campainging (you were already going to take off from traveling and be in St. Paul)and insted spend it rebuilding homes and providing releif to those in need and affected by the storm. That would be a true maverick move.

What watch is McCain on? Arizona isn't exactly in the path of Gustav. Send Bush, fine. He's got some stake in this. McCain? Not so much. There's no need to turn this potential catastrophe into a campaign event. But I suppose he couldn't just ignore it. Not with what happened three years ago. This is a case of damned if you do, damned if you don't.

The poor response to Katrina killed the GOP in 2006. It made Bush look incompetent and was "the last straw" to a lot of people. Now I know about the MSM, Nagin (who would lose anywhere but New Orleans), Blanco (who was shown the door) and that stuff, but it doesn't matter.

If the big convention was going on, the dems would have an ad with Katrina, and an ad of the GOP partying with a Nero fiddled while Rome burned message. That would be a possible game over.

The best thing McCain can do now is make the appearance of "This won't happen on my watch." Jindal can also help McCain here, not to mention his state.

I think most of us are pretty up on how to pray, but thanks for asking.

Kick off the convention with a time of extended prayer meetings, right on the convention floor. Break in from time to time to give updates on what Governor Jindal is doing. Give people specifics on how to pray. Have Salvation Army officials on hand to give updates and lead prayer, too. Governor Palin could lead a session. Mike Huckabee could lead a session.

Areligious types like McCain could be shown keeping in contact with Jindal if they don't feel comfortable praying.

THAT would be an appropriate way to start the convention, it would be the right thing to do and would show that we are a party that takes charge while having a strong faith.

have found their way into various continuing resolutions at the last possible moment.

We must hold our congress-critters accountable: The Appropriation Bills remain unresolved, but more importantly, we can not allow this to happen again.

This is and always has been about compassion for our fellow Americans.

Compassion, that word is the very genesis of all conservative values. I would therefore rather forego politics to ensure my neighbors are safe, secure and have all they need. Greek columns, football stadiums and pleasant sounding rhetoric are the accoutrements of weak, dispassionate vainglorious people.

It has been a meme of the left that Katrina was a disaster due to Republicans. The MSM and every liberal with media time have perpetrated that myth. But truth be told, it was inept state officials who were grossly negligent and bear the brunt of that inauspicious reflection. Mr. Jindal's response has and will bear the hallmarks of our philosophy, I have no doubt.

John McCain and Sarah Palin will be the epitome of executive leadership. I am happy to leave politics for Democrats and their liege, because that's what they do; laugh on planes about political implications, show up on Sunday TV making specious remarks and hope it turns out badly so blame becomes and issue. I can think of nothing more ignominious or distant from the heart of ordinary Americans.
