I am new to this site. i must confess that I don’t agree with everything that Rush Limbaugh says. I get the idea that conservatives are opposed to the Democrats and Obama. But what are y’all for? I’m for America.
I think that the Republicans should push for the expansion of the United States. Expansion under Article IV of the constitution. We can start with Puerto Rico (which is US anyway), then Dominican Rep., Haiti. Cuba will be surrounded and with the promise of equal footing it will not be the old style colonialism which was wrong for a nation that started as rebellious colonies. WhHo do you think would win statewide elections in the state of Cuba that is open and fair, monitored by the FEC? There will still be Communists in Cuba but they will be out of power and will have to caucus with the Democrats.
My first attempt for a diary entry was my proposal to spread american democracy to the world gradually by admitting into the union any nation state that requested admission. The way I see it, the world has a conservative majority. Parishes in the Episcapol Church have asked for preists and bishops from africa because the western clergy are too socially liberal. What is America to do with the world? We can not ignore the world. I understand the horror at the idea of world government. It is a sign of the Antichrist in the Holy books of Left Behind. In my opinion world government is inevitable. We are living in a global economy. The question as I see it what type of government is best? I think it’s the American government under the constitution. It’s the same constitution since 1787 and I think it is the best hope for the world.

Your ideas are conflicting.
Rod_Patrick (Diary) Thursday, February 19th at 6:13AM EST (link)My issues on your post:
1. Conservatives are opposed to Democrats and Obama? I have a different take. We oppose the failed liberal and socialist principles and tendencies of the Dems and Mr. Obama.
2. Promoting democracy by taking over other governments? First, it’s antithetical. Then, it’s the same line of the Liberals and Democrats against Bush and the Iraq War. The conservatives suffered too much because of it.
3. “We cannot ignore the world.” We have been called “fascist”, “totalitarian”, “imperialist America”, etc. because of our “excessive” interventions in world affair by other countries. Now you are saying “we cannot ignore the world”. Maybe the problem is too much worrying about the welfare of our allies and neighbors.
4. Socialist/Communist Governments are not our main problem.s today. Our problem is actually the growing SOCIALISM and COMMUNISM INSIDE OUR COUNTRY wanting for big government. People are asking the Government for almost everything they need. If we continue like this, soon enough, we will become not so different with CUBA. Please observe that those people coming from Latin America and other countries (many of them are illegal) are now influencing (if not manipulating) our own election through fraud and illegal votes.
5. “I don’t agree with everything that Rush Limbaugh says”/ This has become a cliche for some so-called conservatives. What does it mean? Are you afraid of being called a conservative in the age of Obama? Do you want to change your R to D? I suggest you do whatever pleases you. But please, don’t use Rush Limbaugh as an excuse. It’s unfair.
So you are new to the site and you start with a disclaimer?...
JadedByPolitics (Diary) Thursday, February 19th at 6:41AM EST (link)GUESS WHAT? We don’t al agree with EVERYTHING Limbaugh says either…..I suggest you continue to read the writings and don’t make a wide assumption that the people on this site are Rush accolytes.
I will say that he makes more sense than any Democrat ever will BUT that’s because he is a freemarket guy and that is the CRUX of our party!

Socialism doesn’t work. It looks nice on paper, but it’s been tried and it’s failed miserably every time (usually accompanied by widespread death and suffering).

manifestdestiny (Diary) Friday, February 20th at 1:09AM EST (link)I apologize for painting red staters with the broad ditto-head brush. Cliches are an easy way out of thinking through what you really mean. Kind of like: “We oppose the failed liberal and socialist principles and tendencies of the Dems and Mr. Obama.” Policies can fail, but how can tendencies and principles fail?
“Socialism” has been a buzz word since the election. http://people.ischool.berkeley.edu/~nunberg/socialism.html
Is what a liberal Berkely linguist thinks about it.
excerpt:
“Conservatives parse Obama’s statements to discern any traces of Marxist ideology; liberals ridicule the idea that increasing the marginal tax rate by three percent somehow crosses the line to collectivism. But this isn’t about definitions: Sarah Palin can say “now is not the time to experiment with socialism” at the same time the ticket is endorsing the partial nationalization of the banks and urging Congress to buy up troubled mortgages.”
If a little socialist medicine cures the ailing capitalism and saves it is it not better to swallow it until we are on our feet?

AKSteveB (Diary) Friday, February 20th at 1:29AM EST (link)telling folks that the “socialist” stuff was nonsense etc, and for the last few months have been playing defender of the moderates in a couple of places. “He isn’t a socialist, he’s just another Clinton, a pragmatic powerseeker.” Ummmm, he and to be honest, even some Republicans have proven me more wrong than I can stand. Funny enough, one of the talk show guys, maybe it was even Limbaugh, had it dead on. Obama kept talking about change, change, change. Yeah I wanted some change, mostly in the area of competence, and fiscal sanity, I (and I’m willing to bet a HELL of a lot of Obama voters) didn’t want a CHANGED country.

We've already been changed
manifestdestiny (Diary) Friday, February 20th at 2:23AM EST (link)You can’t keep a county from changing. We were changed in 1929, in 1941, in 1963, in 1974, 1989, 1998 when Clinton lied, in 2001 and again in 2008. We didn’t want a CHANGED country but events happen that are outside of our control. The question is how are we going to adapt.
What is our other option?
no, we've only changed in the fundamental
AKSteveB (Diary) Friday, February 20th at 2:33AM EST (link)sense of how our political system and economic systems are organized and function twice in the last century, the first being with FDR, the second being with Reagan. The only truly necessary *change* post Bush was putting some adult supervision back on securities and finance markets. You could make a case that deregulation in this arena went too far, though I’m still more inclined to blame it on a mass psychosis of folks ..even experts like Alan Greenspan, believing that somehow, the fundamental rules of the market had changed. This is a down economic cycle. Much like a cold, it will end when it ends, government may try to treat a few of the symptoms, and that may or may not work, but the rest is smoke and mirrors trying to create “progressive change.”

Regulating securities and finance markets would be like quitting smoking after you find out that you have lung cancer. You will need chemo and radiation you will get sicker but you’ll beat it and stay alive and you probably should start smoking again if you do survive.
It’s easy to say let the market bottom out when you have a job and a home.
A little Socialiam?
hdbiker (Diary) Friday, February 20th at 6:16AM EST (link)There is no such thing! We have been allowing socialism to creep into our society since the 1930′s and more so since 1960. We swallowed a little socialism pill with Johnson’s “Great Society” and got our present welfare state. We swallowed another little socialism pill and got our present “Education System”. Roe v. Wade, Eminent Domain, Same Sex Marriage, Medicare, Medicaid, double taxation, the EPA and a long list of other “Little Socialism” pills have led us where we are today. Yep, socialism just keeps creeping in and our constitutional rights just keep creeping away. And we haven’t even mentioned “redistribution of wealth” or the illegal immigration problems!
This “creep effect” is straight out of Marxx’s playbook. Right along with demonizing Christianity and separating children from the parents for indoctrination. Is this starting to sound familiar, yet? If you don’t think our kids are being indoctrinated in the socialist agenda, try reading a public school textbook. It’s long past time for us to wake up and smell the Marxxism. We’re more than half way down the slope!
