Who’s on the front lines?

Just curious the number of people who’ve been volunteering and out on the front lines for the McCain/Palin team. I have probably put in a full time job’s worth of hours doing work for the Mountain Region headquarters in MN, and have had a blast, not to mention I gained a lot of knowledge about the election process and what goes into campaigning. Since I’m planning on returning to school at the ripe old age of 30 for a bachelor’s in Political Science, I found the experience eye-opening and feel it gave me a lot of background and inside knowledge. After painting hundreds of posterboard signs for a rally held in Blaine in September, I got “upgraded” to the VIP seats behind the stage. Now that was cool.

If you have a Victory office in your area, I highly recommend giving them a call to see what you can help with. Heaven knows with all this voter fraud going on with Nobama’s buddy ACORN, McCain/Palin’s going to need it! If you need to locate a Victory office, check www.johnmccain.com and look up your state. It’s worth the time! :-)

It’s scary out there.

Yesterday evening I stopped at a McDonald’s in a Minnesota area of town known for being Obama country. There is a high poverty level and a lot of gang activity. I used to live near the area, and I have firsthand knowledge of the welfare sucking, gangbanging population that want a president elected who will continue the massive handouts. I have stood in line behind many people from this area who have had blatant conversations of how they don’t HAVE to work cause the government pays their way. And this observation was made of all races. So this paints a picture of the types of people supporting Obama in this neighborhood.
Back to the McDonald’s story…
I have a McCain sticker on my car. I have since moved to a suburb of the Twin Cities and don’t spend a lot of time in this area anymore, since I don’t work there anymore. I had just gone through the drive-thru, and was eating in my car.
In my rearview mirror, I noticed a black man (and I point out his race because it is important later in this story) coming towards my car. I don’t think much of it until he starts to come way too close to my car.
I then notice the pocketknife he’s about to use to damage my vehicle, obviously not knowing I’m sitting inside. I open the door with my cell phone camera and the mace on my keychain, and basically tell him to get the F*ck away from my car or I’ll mace him. I’ve also taken a picture of the creep with my cell phone and tell him I’ll immediately go to the police with it. He starts screaming at me that I’m a racist for not supporting Obama and saying that I don’t deserve to be in “his” city. (He is apparently Lord and Emperor of this area of St. Paul.) At this point, two employees and another passerby have rushed over and start pulling this creep away, and threaten to call the police if he returns. He leaves, still yelling obscenities and calling me a racist (much to my horrible embarassment now, as people all over the parking lot at McDonald’s and the adjacent parking lots are staring). All for supporting a candidate that he doesn’t.

Why don’t you see this happening to Obama’s supporters? Why, when I see an Obama sticker on someone’s car, don’t I feel like knifing their tires or keying their car? Oh that’s right, because I have RESPECT for the fact that others have differing opinions. I respect the fact that this is a free country (won’t be anymore if Obama gets elected, but whatever) and everyone is entitled to their opinion. Because most McCain supporters aren’t welfare recipients or gangbangers, or someone waiting for a government handout. Because most McCain supporters seem to have an inherent common decency and courtesy to those around them. And after talking to hundreds of people as a McCain volunteer, I’ve found taht most McCain supporters feel the same way. But of course, our candidate isn’t urging us to go out and argue and get in people’s faces to get him elected (many of whom take it to the next level and start the damage of property). Our candidate doesn’t have ACORN fraudulently registering Mickey Mouse and other names to vote, and encouraging to vote for a specific candidate. Our candidate is using his experience, his love of country, and his class to get elected, not underhanded tricks and smooth talking.

I’m sure there’s the fringe of McCain supporters that behave badly, but I can tell you this – in Minnesota, land of “Minnesota Nice”, it’s the Obama supporters causing the vandalism, the destruction of property, the theft of property, and the abuse and name-calling of those who don’t support Obama. I’ve not heard ONE story of a McCain (or other candidate) supporter in Minnesota causing this kind of damage. I could be wrong, but there are far more people afraid to show support for McCain for fear of propery damage than for Obama. That episode was truly frightening, being that I am a woman and am not that big, so defending myself would have been difficult. And what do people like that think, that by behaving this way I’ll convert to his/her candidate? Yeah, no thanks. Don’t want any part of that, if that’s how I’m supposed to act towards others.

I’m so tired of this election year. So, so sick of being called a racist, sick of being called a moron or an idiot for being a Republican because of Bush. Just because Bush is a Republican doesn’t mean I agree with him personally or the things he’s done in office. It means I agree with the fundamental values and core beliefs of the Republican party. I don’t understand why people can’t get this. I can’t wait to breathe a sigh of relief when the election is over. If Obama gets elected, it won’t last, since then I’ll worry about the economy tanking and my rights being stripped under the socialist rule, but at least the election will be over and I can stop worrying about my house being bombed by a molotov cocktail or my car being keyed for displaying a simple sticker or yard sign that doesn’t mesh with someone else’s opinion.

Dragging the family through the mud.

So I spent my lunch hour today reading about the “utter atrocity” of McCain’s judgment in choosing a running mate with a pregnant 17 year old daughter…
I’d seriously like to know if anyone truly chooses who to vote for based on the running mate’s children’s decisions.
To all the drama queens out there screaming of McCain’s poor choice in a running mate…were you 17 once? Could you have cared LESS if your mom was in a political office? Would you have thought for one second that it could unneccessarily catapult you into national news for making a poor choice? First of all, that poor girl is now having her personal life broadcast over CNN and Fox News. Is she going to be McCain’s running mate? No. Then WHO CARES??? Leave that poor girl alone. Second of all, is it really so shocking? I graduated from high school in 1998, and guess what – 30% of the girls had kids before graduation. And we went to a normal, middle-class school. It’s not this hugely scandalous scenario everyone’s making it out to be. Big deal. It’s not good choice, true, but it shouldn’t be the reason anyone votes against McCain and Palin. And as far as people attacking Palin for her being some terrible mother? Let me ask you this…when you were 17, did your mother follow you to every friend’s house, every party, and listen on every phone call? I highly doubt it. A 17 year old near-adult is going to make a decision whether her mother or father forbids it, condones it, or supports it. I was 17 once, and I can tell you with absolute certainty that if I wanted to take a drink, sleep with someone, or make a poor choice, that NO ONE, my parents included, would be able to tell me otherwise. So to all the naysayers out there, leave her family out of the election, leave that girl alone, and choose a candidate based on their stance on important issues, not on the media frenzy surrounding the running mate’s child. And if you still can’t do that, imagine how you’d feel if your private life was suddenly thrust into the spotlight, regardless of whether you wanted it to be or not, and read that the fact you got pregnant at 17 might throw an entire election out of balance. Seems ridiculous, doesn’t it?
If you read the Issues page on www.johnmccain.com, you’ll find plenty of good plans and reasons to vote for John McCain in November.

Your mom always told you…

…if you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all. I wholeheartedly agree.
I will be the first to tell you I’m a staunch, conservative Republican. I voted for Dubya. I will also be the first to say I believe this particular administration failed in their governing of the country.
Now before anyone tries to tell me (or yell at me, I guess) that I’m no Republican, let me continue…
I find it abhorrent and appalling the way our fellow Americans blast the President and other majority-elected officials. This poor guy has, in my opinion, the hardest job in the world. If I make a mistake at work, the most that’ll happen is my boss might yell at me. I don’t make the nightly news, hit every Bush-bashing blog in the world, or have polls taken via mail, phone, or door-to-door about how terrible I am. He’s done the best he can, to the best of his abilities (with advisors all along the way) to do what he deemed in the best interest of America. Let’s go back seven years to September 12th, 2001, for a minute…shall we?
The Twin Towers have just been hit the day before. (And I’m sorry to have to revisit this again, in yet another election year…) People are looking to the White House for answers and action. President Bush is in his what, 9th month of the presidency? He votes to hunt that bastard bin Laden down and go to war. Yes, the war has gotten quite long and out of hand, but imagine the backlash had he NOT opted to go to war…? Can you imagine the flying fur and angry blogs about how he was leaving us open like a sitting duck, or making the USA look like wimps? He’s damned if he does, damned if he doesn’t. Yes, the war has gone on much longer than necessary, but complaining about it and whining about what a “failure” it is insults the thousands of soldiers over there right now keeping the insane, backwards, and highly confused extremists from causing another disaster. So we haven’t yet caught bin Laden. Don’t hear from him much these days, do you?
There’s a quote in the Bible that, whether a person is religious or not, appeals to every single person on Earth…”let he who is without sin cast the first stone.” Everyone who complains about, bashes, criticizes, or insults our President of the United States – the man who has held his head high and pressed on during the rockiest of moments, and continued to lead our country – all I have to say is…let’s see you go do it better. Either put up or shut up.
