Wisconsin’s ill gotten booty from the Federal Recovery and Reinvestment Act totals $3,760,801,661.
So, how will this money be spent? Let’s put it this way . . . if the nanny in the term “Nanny State” was already dangerously overweight, then after this federal feeding frenzy, she’ll be morbidly obese.
Here’s how the numbers break down:
74.56% of the nearly 4 billion (that’s $2,803,963,283 of the $3,760,801,661) will enrich various nanny state entitlement programs. The two biggest pigs at the feeding trough are Medicaid (at $1,240,000,000) and the state stabilization fund for education (at $717,730,301). All in all, education related programs will receive a whopping $1,167,162,252 (that’s 42% of the nanny state monies right there and 31% of the total funds coming to Wisconsin!). So, if you live in Wisconsin and if you suspect that Obama wants the hearts and minds of your children, then this should be evidence enough . . . cash from this act will go to education starting at child care and Head Start and enrich the rest of the public K-12 system (“Stimulate Socialism when they’re young,” that’s Obama’s motto).
16.24% of the total “stimulus” (amounting to $610,752,741) will go to infrastructure (Highway Funding and Transit Formula Funding). This may produce a few jobs or it may simply prevent some jobs from being lost. But, it is not . . . I repeat, it is NOT a major investment in the nation’s infrastructure. And, it is also clear evidence that most of the “stimulus” money isn’t going to shovel-ready projects.
The remaining 9.2% of the $3,760,801,661 (or $346,085,637) will go to various environmental related projects. Most of the funds will go to already existing clean water programs. Only $55,909,000 (I say “only” because it accounts for only 1.5% of the total $3,760,801,661) goes to the fabled “green jobs” of the future . . . chalk this one up as yet another Obama lie for those keeping score (you know the media isn’t).
So there you go . . . that’s Wisconsin’s take of the “stimulus.” Most of it is going to the expansion of the nanny state (75% of it!). The nanny is no longer just happily fat. She’s now morbidly obese. And, what kind of a warning would a doctor (likely paid for by Medicaid if you’re in Wisconsin) give to the morbidly obese? Probably something along the lines of, “You’d better change your ways or you’re heading toward a very sickly future and an early death.”
Wisconsin’s nanny should heed this warning as well, but she won’t. She’s too busy at the trough right now and can’t hear a thing with all the slurping and slopping going on.

Morbidly Obese Nannies
izoneguy (Diary) Tuesday, February 24th at 2:01PM EST (link)will always want more, more, more!!!
This is just breakfast – wait until she wants lunch then a 3 course meal.
And of course Morbidly Obese Nannies love expensive French wines to wash all the pork down. And then late night snacks and all those trips to the fridge in between. This Morbidly Obese Nanny will eat you out of house & home.
The point cannot be made often enough: Modern liberalism, as embodied in the Obama presidency, is the defender of the status quo. And the status quo is a road to economic ruin. Political forces cannot redistribute the wealth that the economic system does not produce.
No truer words, izoneguy
mailloux (Diary) Tuesday, February 24th at 2:08PM EST (link)Speaking of house and home, Wisconsin’s helping to slop the nanny by raising taxes on home owners. At least that’s what the Governor is suggesting at this point.
“From the productive to the irresponsible,” a possible new WI state motto?
Thanks for commenting, mailloux
Great work, mailoux.
roscopico (Diary) Tuesday, February 24th at 8:33PM EST (link)As a fellow Wisconsinite I knew the Diamond Jim admin was looking for another tobacco settlement/transportation fund/malpractice fund to raid. I knew the porkulus was a farce, as well.
If I may, I have two questions.
1) Where can I find this info so I can broadcast it in the local newspaper (not that I don’t appreciate your legwork, but you and I both know anything on redstate is dismissed out-of-hand by libs as the product of rabid right-wingnuts)?
2) Is there any possibility Diamond Jim will be held accountable for once again “fixing” the budget with a one-time windfall?
Jim Doyle is a flat-out snake. I wish he be promoted to citizen life as soon as humanly possible.
Thanks for the great post, and best wishes.

roscopico,
mailloux (Diary) Wednesday, February 25th at 10:56AM EST (link)Thank you for reading, commenting, and recommending.
Sorry for the late reply . . . I haven’t been able to get to a computer until this morning.
The stats in my post are my own compilation of the data. I basically took a spreadsheet of the programs and cash amounts, and then I assigned a category. I used 3 categories: nanny state entitlement, infrastructure, and environmental. I used Excel to sum up and calculate my totals and percentages.
The raw data can be found at the following website: http://www.recovery.wisconsin.gov/. Once you are there, click on a link at the bottom of the page called, “American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Estimates for Wisconsin”. This will provide an htlm doc showing programs and cash amounts. You can cut and paste this into Excel and then perform a similar analysis.
As to whether Diamond Jim will ever be held accountable? The media establishment in WI covers his tracks on a regular basis. The only way to spread the word is in the alternate media and in small town newspapers. It wouldn’t be a bad idea for local Republican parties on the county level to pay for a mailing showcasing the kind of information that’s in my post. This may be the only way to hold the Snake (the name befits him) accountable.
And, great to hear from a fellow Wiscosinite!
Take Care, mailloux
Wait for the new public transportation system
woodsman (Diary) Tuesday, February 24th at 8:44PM EST (link)the brilliant governor has placed into the latest budget. More money for more projects that need continual spending to keep in place.
and,
The stimulus money is being spent on keeping state employees employed. And then on top of all of this, they vote themselves a raise, which few refuse.
Wisconsin is in a state of addiction and it continues to be fed…
