Loretta’s at it again!

[or, I'm not a member of the GOP, so I dun have to follow no stinkin' rules!]

Loretta Sanchez, Democratic Congresswoman from the OC, from my, ahem, “esteemed” home state, reminds us when you are a representative from a blue state and the “blu-ewe-ies” are about to attempt a complete coup of the federal government, the rules just do not apply to you.

Couldn’t Say It Better Myself

Like he says: “Don’t let them discourage you! Get off your booty and vote!”

Say it isn’t so, Mort ?!?!

I guess sexism is STILL alive and well in the Beltway! [Does Nanny P know?]

I have been watching FNN’s “The Beltway Boys” and have been listening to Mort Kondracke, knowing that he is not as big a fan of Gov. Palin as I am. Initially, Mort was quite negative about Gov. Palin’s ability to step in as President, should that be necessary [and please alert the Media - all the Media - that it is really getting so tiresome to watch them constantly checking Sen. McCain's pulse]. Well, after watching last Thursday’s debate, Mort seemed to be coming around – he now thinks Gov. Palin will be ready to step in – but only after Gov. Palin has learned the ropes, say, after serving about 3 or 4 years as VP. After all, it is apparent that she has a “high IQ” and “could learn.”

“Okay, well, first impressions are hard to change,” I say to myself, giving Mort the benefit of the doubt.

Then, when Fred Barnes asks Mort how would he feel about Joe Biden stepping in, Mort expressed absolute confidence in Sen. Joe’s ability, and brushed off all Sen. Joe’s gaffes and “errors” as being only “errors of fact which he could look up.” He then cited Senator Joe’s 36 years of service as being a “reservoir” from which the Sen. Joe could draw upon [say, what? a "reservoir"?]

Okay ~ through the filtering of a middle-class upbringing, I regard Sen. Joe’s gaffes as insensitive social faux pas, but my middle-class upbringing also taught me while some “errors of fact” can be corrected by checking with Wikipedia, other “errors of fact” are just the inside the Beltway genteel speak for “down right lie” – and Sen. Joe uttered at least 10 of them during Thursday night’s debate.

I, for one, am getting so tired of the “errors of fact” consistently being uttered by Congress – and the lack of responsibility for any “errors of fact” and “errors of judgment” they make – as typified by Barney-I-gots-to-cover-my-backside Frank and Nancy-I-dun-need-to-lead-cuz-it-is-the-fault-of-the-Bush-Administration’s-failed-economic-policies Pelosi. And if the MSM would take a minute from checking Sen. McCain’s pulse and do some fact checking – oh, my, I am drifting off into my daydreams of Utopia again.

Back to reality – anyway, as I would like to explain to Mort, if Sen. Joe’s debate performance was a display of his command of the issues drawn from the “reservoir” of his 36 years of Congressional experience, then someone has polluted the water – which Sen. Joe would most likely attribute to coal-mining and man-made global warming. Through the filter of my middle-class upbringing, Sen. Joe’s debate performance was just a politician politicking – with lies, denies, obfuscating, and it-not-my-fault-cuz-it-is-never-my-fault reasoning.

Sen. Joe is ready to lead, but Gov. Palin is not? Say it isn’t so, Mort! Well, at least Gov. Palin read up on the job description, Mr. Kondracke.

Now, Fred Barnes commented that Mort appears to hold the Beltway’s “double-standard” in regards to the two candidates, the double-standard being that “longevity matters.”

Hmmmmm … could it possibly be that the “double-standard” referred to by Mr. Barnes is just Beltway soft-speak for sexism?

And has someone informed San Fran Nan? Oh, that’s right – it is not sexism – it-is-the-fault-of-the-Bush-Administration’s-failed-economic-policies.

Ummmm …. I think the President got it wrong about that Axis of Evil ….

(or, keep your friends close and your enemies even closer!)

Last week, I was musing about President Bush’s January 2002 State of the Union Address, and so I went and reread it. [It still remains my most favorite speech delivered by Mr. Bush]

Now, why was I musing? Well, I kept pondering the President’s reference to the “Axis of Evil.”

Remember how President Bush shook things up in that Address when he identified Korea, Iraq and Iran as the “axis of evil”? To this day, ardent liberals pontificate that it is “inflammatory statements” such as this that has caused us to lose our good will and credibility with countries in Europe and the Middle East. [Which is why it is my favorite speech, and I dare say, the favorite of many. You go, G.W.!]

However, while pondering it these past few days, a thought began to dawn on me which gave me pause … I dare say, I think our President might have been in error … because I started to wonder if the Axis of Evil may actually be House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Rep. Barney Frank and Rep. Christopher Dodd!

And then Speaker Pelosi opened her, oh, how does one say this delicately, “[cow]-pie-hole” on Sunday, which was convincing, and then on Monday, right after she placed her carefully pedicured cloven foot in her surgically enhanced mouth that it was confirmed – she is a card-carrying, dues-paying [albeit, with our tax monies] member of that special partisan club, The Bush Bashing Axis of Evil Triumvirate of the greater Washington, D.C. area!

Well, at least she was able to get something confirmed ….

As the adage goes, “keep your friends close and your enemies even closer.”

Bill Clinton’s “inspiration”

or, how this Red State Gal finally put her money behind her candidate

Last night, admittedly intrigued by the speculation on talk radio that “Crazy Ol’ Bill” Clinton just might be the best entertainment of the DNC convention, I tuned in after dinner to listen.

Ah, Bill was good; he was quintessentially Clintonian. Admittedly, he has developed into a good speaker. As expected – he is an attorney, after all – oops, I take that back – President Bill was disbarred, lest we forget. But he does make his living speaking, so he is practiced.

Yes, be brought back memories [wait ~ is that Barbra humming in the background?] The 90′s came roaring back – Black Hawk down; Elian Gonzalez; the USS Cole; the first World Trade Center bombing; military intervention – but only when you are about to be impeached – boy, a record to be proud of – impeachment and disbarment – but difficult when your military resources are compromised because you have decimated the military – leaving behind the legacy of the Monica Lewinsky scandal, but not leaving behind White House artifacts [oh, Hillary was planning to return them when she moved back in]- and a future with the image of Sandy Berger stuffing his pants – which is more troubling than an image of Bill, Monica and a certain cigar, since Sandy was stuffing his slacks with top secret documents. And most egregious, leaving that pesky Osama bin Laden problem for the next guy to handle.

Yes, my thoughts were flooded with memories – and I broke out in a cold sweat, and felt a wave of nausea. [Note to self - remember to postpone dinner until after hearing Bill Clinton speak; wait - on second thought - note to self - don't listen to Bill Clinton speak!]
