I don’t even know if I have an opinion on term limits. I’ve thought about it and everytime I think I am for them, I change my mind.

Until you do that, this is just mental masturbation so zip up and get to work. Or stf up.

“Bona Fide” Conservatives don’t mind getting their hands a little dirty.

Perhaps the republican party should step up education DURING election campaigns. Generally speaking the 2008 elections were nothing more than a series of opponent bashing ads or so it seemed at times to me. It became very unappealing after awhile, so I tuned it out.

Elections need to be treated like free market capitalism. When was the last time you saw an ad telling you only the reasons why you should not buy the competitor’s product. Republicans need to put more emphasis on why the republican brand is the right purchase.

Standing up for flag waving isn’t enough, there are patriotic democrats too. Show people with facts [ forgive me if I get some wrong, I'm a builder not a statatician ]. Show them for example the federal income tax in 1913 was 3 % and what taxes are today when all of them are added together.

How do you accomplish this? I wish I knew, but I do know the democrats educated the people that voted for Obama in our public schools. I was married to a teacher, she, they voted democrat like it was their duty. Then the liberal corriculum is taught and they graduate uneducated, which fits into the democrats plans nicely. Perhaps everyone has seen the story of the school system where the minimum score on tests will be 50 %. Socialism is here now, and the democrats have no intention to educate the people about free market capitalism.

Thanks for giving me a place to put my thoughts. I’ll go now and continue doing what I can to educate my friends and family.

You want change? Educate the voters why they should vote out the liberal and put in a conservative. But hey, that would mean you’d actually have to get out there and do something.

Bob Schaffer was the CO-4 U.S. House Rep. and ran on term limits. He could’ve kept this seat for life, but instead committed leave after his self-imposed limit. That got us Marilyn Musgrave who nobody liked, so now we have Betsy Markey (D).

The argument can be made from both sides, and I can certainly see your point (fortunately, I’m intelligent enough to see the rationale -in spite- of the smug and arrogant way you present yourself)… but I also think that term limits create something that is far worse than a lame duck presidency — and that is a legislature which is unaccountable to its voters. As NT says, a type of political “senioritis.” You disagree, I’m certain, as is your right — but don’t go to questioning my values as a “bona fide” conservative because you happen to disagree with methods.

But if you guys want to “stand on principles”, and allow people like Kennedy, Byrd, Pelosi and Rangel run roughshod over small government actors, be my guest.

But don’t expect the rest of us to pay virtue to that kind of shallow thinking.

What needs to happen is that voters need to be educated…

Yeah, I have visions of sugarplum Christmases, but that’ll never happen either.

If you want to throw a big wrench into the apparatus of government expansion, Term Limits is one of the best tools available.

If any conservative is truly supportive of “smaller government”, Term Limits is Exhibit A in how to make it happen.

Which is why I say you can always tell the real bona fide small-government conservatives by whether they support Term Limits or not.

Still, I have to agree with NT and Pippin. Term limits won’t solve the problem. If voters are too dumb to vote morons (Pelosi, Reid, etc.) out in the first place, they’ll just keep voting morons in, even WITH term limits.

What needs to happen is that voters need to be educated, and then activated. Instead, we have a whole lot of activists, most of whom work from ignorance.
