NMA Comments on Senator Obama’s Coal Policy

National Mining Association (NMA) President and CEO Hal Quinn today responded to comments Senator Obama reportedly made in a January 17 interview with the San Francisco Chronicle. In response to a question, the senator said his climate change policy would “bankrupt” U.S. coal:

“Bankrupting the coal industry would be tantamount to bankrupting the American economy. Coal generates half of our nation’s electricity, employs hundreds of thousands of Americans and provides millions of dollars in revenue to coal states.

“Destroying the coal industry would break America’s energy backbone. It would raise the cost of energy for households and businesses throughout the country and create massive job losses. We trust the candidates understand this and do not believe that destroying the coal industry is part of the change we need.”

Any of you living in Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, anywhere there is coal, spread the word about this.

I hope the local news stations in coal country are covering Obama’s asinine statements, because I’m not seeing it on the national news (surprise). Even if you don’t live in coal country but know someone who does, it is your duty as an American to tell them about this and tell them to spread the news.

…is all you hear from Ohio’s MSM about the coal story!

I just checked websites for all of Ohio’s major newspapers, and the main story was about the death of Obama’s Grandmother or long lines for early voting.

The Columbus Dispatch, which normally is pro-Republican, had a tiny blurb about Palin talking about the coal issue: you had to scroll down and squint to find it.

Not that my state matters, but almost all information can be found here. Except offcourse that which helps Republicans. None of my colleagues knew anyhting about it until I told it to them. Really Pathetic!

Then it has to be a word of mouth effort.

Make the papers and local news pay for their inaction later.

is huge here in WY and none of the people I talked to today knew anything about it. I was, of course, more than willing to explain.
