A Call to Action for Perry Supporters

I have and will always feel that Gov. Perry is the best man to lead our nation at this time. Period.

I know what I’m about to propose is a long shot. Some would say I’m beating a dead horse. Maybe I am, and maybe I’m not. But I’m willing to fight for what I believe in, and for who I believe in. In my opinion, there is no one who has the experience and character to be president other than Gov. Perry. He has a record of creating jobs that few can equal. He has been a steady warrior for our consevative values. Gov. Perry was the tea party before there was a tea party!! Not only is Gov. Perry an honorable man, his wife is also a lady of virtue and dignity, and will serve our country with those qualities alongside her husband as she has already in Texas.

We need a president with Gov. Perry’s skills. It’s been too long since we had a shot at putting a man in office with the character of Gov. Perry, and I’m not willing to give up on that chance yet.

If you feel the way I do, take action. Here are a few things that we can do now.

1. EMAIL Gov. Perry. Tell him from your heart why you feel we need him and why he should rejoin the race.

        campaign@rickperry.org

2. CALL his office and leave a message of encouragement.

  • Citizen’s Opinion Hotline [for Texas callers] :
    (800) 252-9600
  • Information and Referral and Opinion Hotline [for Austin, Texas and out-of-state callers] :
    (512) 463-1782

3. Use social media to get out the message.

4.  If you are going to CPAC next week, do your best to encourage

Gov. Perry to rejoin the race.

5. Encourage everyone to donate funds and support his campaign in any way they can.

6. Most importantly, Pray. Pray. Pray. With God all things are possible.

There is also a website dedicated to the cause of re-drafting Gov. Perry into the race.  Please check it out: http://teaandfedup.wordpress.com/

The Resolve to Fight for Life

I have to admit that I was quite discouraged after Gov. Perry suspended his campaign. In fact, I felt terribly disheartened about the whole process. However,  I have been infused with some new resolve.

Last week, on my way to an appointment, I had some time to kill, so I stopped by a second-hand book store. One of my favorite topics besides politics is medicine. When I noticed a book about the experiences of a nurse, I picked it up. I quickly skimmed a little of the book, and since it looked interesting I decided to buy it. I finally got around to reading some of it yesterday afternoon. It was not long before my blood pressure started rising. The nurse turned out to be an ultra liberal, and an advocate for euthanasia. She believes that it is just fine to “snow” a terminally ill patient by overdosing him with pain medication until the patient dies. What’s more is that in her opinion, the family should not be allowed to make end of life decisions for the patient. She believes it should be a doctor’s decision because “the family is too emotional to choose what is  best for the patient.” Believe it or not, this book was published in 1978!!

We all know how far this movement has come today. This was a wake up call for me. Even though I already knew about this spreading mindset, it was a reminder that we must continue standing for life. We can’t become discouraged because of recent events.

If we do not elect a republican president, and Obamacare is not repealed, I’m afraid this will happen much more often to people who are handicapped and do not have the “quality of life” that “normal” people do. The government will see them as a drain on society because their care costs so much, and the practice of “humane death” will become widespread.

We must fight for life AT ALL STAGES!! We cannot give up, even though we are discouraged. We must get behind a pro-life candidate that can beat Barack Obama , and that man in my opinion is Newt Gingrich.

Is there a Doctor in the House?

I think I may be suffering from a syndrome called: ”strangle the media”. My symptoms include: sudden urges to shoot my radio when a certain theme song comes on, ask another radio queen if she’s satisfied, and just  forget Faux News in general. I believe I contracted this disease after a certain governor’s campaign was continually berated, down-played, or simply left out. My symptoms have become much more intense since yesterday.

Ok, all joking aside, I am angry at how Gov. Perry was pushed out of the race. What angers me most is that it was not by the will of the people. Yes, I know he did not do well in Iowa or New Hampshire, but look at those states a little closer. We really don’t know what happened in Iowa. Yesterday, I heard a report that some of the votes have gone missing. We know that Democrats crossed over to skew the results in favor of Ron Paul and Mitt Romney. No one expected a real conservative to do well in New Hampshire. We were going to get the REAL DEAL in South Carolina. The truth is, people were open to Gov. Perry, I talked to many of them! But Gov. Perry had one big enemy: the media. Day after day pundits tried to push Gov. Perry out of the race, and eventually they succeeded. Due to the media’s continual bombardment, Gov. Perry’s last poll number in South Carolina was a dismal two percent. I know the polls aren’t accurate, but it still speaks to voters being influenced by media bias.

What kills me is that the voters never really got to have their say. Going forward, I think we should learn a lesson from this election. Never, Never, let the media, even the so called conservative media, tell us who the nominee should be. I hope and pray that the South Carolina primary is won by someone other that Mitt Romney, the media’s nominee.

Perhaps my syndrome will dissipate with time. I doubt it, though.

I end with Gov. Perry’s quote from yesterday:

“And this I know, I am not done fighting for the cause of conservatism. In fact I have only begun to fight.”

From one Perry supporter’s heart

Today is a sad day for all of us who have supported Gov.Perry. I honestly felt that Gov. Perry was the best man for to lead our country. I still feel that way.

So, what now? I hate to ask that question. I wish I could go on defiantly supporting Gov.Perry, but in my heart I know that is not what is best for our country. We can not allow Obama to be reelected, and we must now work toward that goal.

Today we can cry, but tomorrow we have to move on. We have to unite. For me, I will take Gov. Perry’s advice and support Gingrich. I can’t say I’m thrilled to do so, but I feel that he is the best choice remaining.

Let us all pray for Gov. Perry today. I know this can not be any easier for him and his family than it is for us.

For all those in Texas: you are blessed; you have an incredibly honorable governor.

In the words of Todd Beamer, “Let’s Roll”! because of what Edmund Burke said:

“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing”.

Forget the Nay-sayers: Perry IS popular in S.C.

PLEASE do not let anyone tell you that South Carolina’s voters have written Gov. Perry off.

Since Wednesday evening, I have called almost two hundred South Carolinians and only about ten said they would not support Rick Perry; one of them was a democrat, so go figure! Everyone else was either very receptive or already voting for Gov. Perry.  My favorite conversation was with a sweet little lady in her golden years. After I told her who I was, she said she had heard about Gov. Perry but “didn’t know anything about him”. I told her that he is the governor of Texas and all about his record. The first question she asked me was, “Well, is he a Christian?” “Yes, ma’am” I said. Then she wanted to know if he had been married more than once. “No, ma’am” I said, and I proceeded to tell her how he met his wife, Anita at a piano recital. I told her that Gov. Perry was pro-life, and she said “Now that does mean that he doesn’t support abortion, right?” “Yes, ma’am” I said again “Gov. Perry is a leading advocate for life.”  ”Good” she said, “because I won’t vote for anyone who supports abortion.”

We talked for at least fifteen minutes, and at the end she said “Well, I think my husband and I are going to go vote. We weren’t going to, but we will now! Thank you for calling; I’m going to go to bed now.” It was about 7:30pm EST. :)  Before I hung up, I told her that she could go to RickPerry.org if she had any questions, she replied “Honey, we don’t have a computer, and if I did, I wouldn’t know how to work it. Anyway, you already answered my questions.”

That was one the best phone calls I’ve ever made for Gov. Perry’s campaign. The great thing though is that so many of the people I talked to really like Gov. Perry.

So, don’t give  up y’all!! Gov. Perry is still in the fight no matter what anyone says!!

Gov. Perry: The best man to lead our military

There are a lot of great reasons to support Gov. Perry. He has wonderful record of creating jobs and a good energy plan. Who doesn’t like his plan to cut 5 trillion from the budget? I get slightly giddy at the thought of filling out my tax returns on a postcard, and part time congress would be heaven! These are all good reasons to support Rick Perry for president, but I have another reason; one that is closer to my heart.

I have two brothers in the military. One of them will be deployed to Afghanistan next month.  The prayers of my family and I are never far from them, and even though we know they are in God’s hands it’s never easy to have someone you love in harms way.

It concerns me that our president signed into law a piece of legislation that his own generals said could cost the lives of our brave men and women in uniform. To me, that is reprehensible. One of a president’s main concerns should be the safety of our troops, and to never put them I any more danger than is necessary.

It’s obvious that we need a change; someone who will do everything within their power to protect our country and our military. Rick Perry is the one person in this race who has a track record of unfailing support for our troops. Gov. Perry can relate to our troops because he’s been where they are now.  In fact, he is the only candidate other than Ron Paul who has served in the military. Most importantly, he genuinely cares for our soldiers and their families as evidenced by the many stories of kindness and compassion he has shown to our troops.

While this might not be the greatest or best reason to support Gov. Perry I think it deserves consideration. After all, who do you really want holding in their hands the lives of our servicemen and women?

Why I agree with Gov. Perry on In State Tuition

Over the past few months, I have heard a lot of criticism of Governor Perry over the issue of in state tuition for children of illegal immigrants. Even some Perry supporters take issue with his position. For me, though, I have to say I agree with the Governor.

I should make it clear that I am not an amnesty supporter. I believe that if you made a choice to break our laws and cross the border, you should be deported. I also believe without totally sealing off the border we will never solve this problem. So, make no mistake, I am not an advocate for illegal immigration, especially for those with criminal intent.

With that said, I do “have a heart” for those that have no choice; the children who could not choose and were brought here by their parents.

Let me tell you a story:

My father worked as a probation officer for almost twenty years before retiring. More times than not, this can be a discouraging job. Many of the people he worked with did not want to change. Occasionally, someone would come along who would not only change but become a friend. This is what happened with a man I’ll call Jose`. Jose` was illegally brought over the border into theUSby his parents when he was about ten. His parents settled inFloridaand worked on a farm picking produce. When Jose` was about twelve, a friend of the owner of the farm his parents were working on, asked to take Jose` toWest Virginiato help him sell his crops. He promised to pay Jose` a good wage and to bring him back toFloridawhen the crops were sold. Jose` went toWest Virginiaand worked hard for the farmer. Unfortunately, the farmer proved to be untrustworthy. Just before they were supposed to return toFlorida, they stopped at a gas station to get gas. Jose` went into the gas station and when he came out the farmer had left him. He abandoned Jose` without paying him for his work and left him stranded in West Virginia. Jose` was on the street with no money, no way home, and no way for his parents to come and get him. Needless to say, José’s next few years were hard ones. When he was in his late teens, he met a friend who helped him begin the process of becoming an American citizen. This friend also helped him become a certified electrician. Jose` eventually became an American citizen, worked hard, and paid his taxes. Then, he made a mistake; he got behind the wheel of a car after he had been drinking, this is how my Dad met him. It was clear to my Dad that Jose` was someone who wanted to make something out of his life. Jose` vowed to never make that mistake again. Jose` became a Christian and a person whom others respected. He started his own small business, got married, and had twin boys. He is now raising his sons to become law abiding upstanding citizens of the country he loves.

I’m sure that there are many other José’s among us. People brought here as young children and want to live as good, decent Americans. Frankly, I do not see why we cannot allow a young person, who through no fault of their own is illegal, to work toward becoming a citizen like Jose`. What is so wrong with allowing them to pay their way through college like otherTexasyoung people? Why can’t we allow them to be contributing productive members of our society, tax payers instead of tax wasters?

Think about this, if a mom tells her five year old to steal something and he does, do we prosecute the child? No! We prosecute the mother. I ask you, should we punish a young person because of what his parents did? I don’t think so.

I realize that my opinion is not a popular one, but in my heart of hearts, I can’t see it any other way. None of us can choose what family we are put in, or what our parents will do; that is all left up to God. I believe we should judge someone on their own merits, not by what their parents have done.

I’ll end with a poem I wrote that seems to fit this topic.

We cannot choose where we are placed,

Not our family, our parents, or our race,

What matters though, is how we live,

What we say, what we do, and what we give.
