One precious little freedom at a time, by one more freedom destroying piece of legislation at a time, something awful is happening in America.  One new destructive piece of legislation after another, is causing our precious Bill of Rights to start looking more and more like a pathetic Bill of baloney, sandwiched in between two liberally sliced pieces of Swiss cheese, that is big enough to drive a truck through.  In other words our Bill of Rights is rapidly becoming a pretentious collection of well-meaning, but all too frequently broken promises that appear to be shot through with holes big enough for a power hungry government, or any liberal ACLU attorney to drive their enormous progressive agenda through.  What can those of us who cherish our personal freedom which is enshrined in the Bill of Rights do, to halt this incessant nibbling away at our God given and un-alienable rights, whose very defense of was cited as the reason for the creation of our own Federal Government?

Well, we might begin by starting to respect and understand those very words in the Declaration,… the Constitution,… and the Bill of Rights,… words that came at such a great price that they cost brave men their lives,… and which words did set this nation in motion on its separate path!  And we might also do well to consider that these words were not just written by some speechwriter to pander for votes, or to position his boss for re-election, but that the people who expressed them, actually meant what they said, and they had everything to lose, and only the remotest possibility of freedom to gain.

So then if we can just remember these things, then maybe the same fervor that stirred up our country’s founders will also enable us to prove ourselves worthy of their sacrifices.  Let us at least try to prove ourselves worthy of all that those before us have accomplished. Amen.

Property rights are under attack again in Oregon this year by the State Constitution and by the Oregon Legislature! State Legislators refused again to give my Foreclosure Reform Bill (Senate Bill 929) a hearing for the second straight year! This fifteen year old Bill, first written and drafted as Oregon House Bill 3453, in the 1995 Legislative Session, was allowed to die in committee again, in Salem this year! There was just not a lot of support for the Bill. Apparently there are a lot more important things for our State Legislators to do in Salem, than to make sure that our Oregon State Constitution conforms to the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights! For the benefit of all of our Oregon legislators, who have never read it, the ‘Takings Clause’ of the Fifth Amendment to the US Constitution, which is a part of the Bill of Rights, reads as follows, “Nor shall private property be taken for public use without just compensation.” For the rest of this story read on.

Once upon a time there was a little boy and girl, who lived happily together with their parents, in a little house in Oregon, out in the country. Time passed, and as the years went by, the children grew up, their parents died, the house grew old, and so did the little boy and girl. A little community sprang up all around them, but the two siblings, who never married, never left home either. Then one day, along came a big bad wolf in disguise, actually it was two big bad wolves, Lane County and the City of Eugene, and together they huffed and they puffed, and while they didn’t actually blow the house down, it’s still there today with some alterations, they did blow Jack and Betty Neely right out of their home, the only home they’d ever known! Homelessness, followed by a heart attack and the untimely death of her brother, broke Betty Neely’s heart and she quietly left Oregon several years later! What we have here is a deplorable situation and a very horrible law, ORS 223.525, that violates the US Constitution and needs to be changed in this year’s session of the Oregon Legislature!   Read on:

Retrospective: Eugene Oregon, 1995
Foreclosure Reform Bill, HB 3453 passes Oregon House 43-7 but companion bill languishes in Senate

     In 1995 after a protracted dispute over a sewer assessment lien, the City of Eugene foreclosed on the childhood home of Jack and Betty Neely at 1600 Horn Lane, Eugene Oregon. Then Lane County evicted the elderly siblings, Jack age 76 and Betty age 66, and sold their home at a public sale at the county courthouse to the lone bidders, Marilyn Goss and Leroy Bench of Eugene for $7,411, the exact amount of the lien against it! The Neely home had been last appraised at $63,710. That forfeiture was quite a boondoggle for Goss and Bench!

Except for the sewer assessment lien, the property was owned free and clear by the Neely’s, and there were no other recorded liens against the deed.  The difference between the appraised value and the amount that the property sold for at foreclosure was $56,299.  This was the equity that Jack and Betty Neely had in their home.  It was their life savings!  It was effectively stolen from them by the City of Eugene and Lane County in order to perfect a $5000 sewer lien and then handed over to Marilyn Goss and Leroy Bench, currently of 2128 W 28th St., Eugene Oregon.  They bought the Neely house for $7,411and sold it 5 years later in 1999 for $100,650 and meanwhile they purchased a much nicer  house in the South Eugene Hills for $158,000, with the equity that rightfully belonged to Jack and Betty Neely!

Following the foreclosure on their house and their subsequent eviction, Jack Neely died homeless, one month later of a heart attack, and Betty Neely was forced to go into Public assistance housing.  She got an apartment at Yapoah Terrace.  I’m sure they couldn’t believe that their country would actually do this to them. Jack died broken hearted.  In 2005 Betty Neely left Oregon and moved south to California where she still lives with family members today.   It was a tragic story and an often forgotten one in the history of Eugene, and in the struggle between “Big Development”  and the residents of Lane County.

Many members of Eugene’s political establishment were around back then and they are still around today, as well as the same horrible law, ORS 223.525 that did the Neely’s in!  Mayor Kitty Piercy was then a freshman assemblywoman representing River Road and Santa Clara who only reluctantly agreed to sponsor the reform bill,  HB 3453.  Floyd Prozanski was a state assemblyman from South Eugene in 1995 but he was officially excused from voting on the bill. Peter Sorenson was a state senator from Eugene who was not at all helpful in supporting the bill. In 2009, I asked then state senator Floyd Prozanski to sponsor a new version of HB 3453. It did not even receive a hearing that year in the Democrat controlled legislature.  Floyd told me that they were very busy that year in Salem. Commissioner Peter Sorenson said he would work to bring some kind of reforms at the County level but then he never got back to me!

     The horrible law which allowed the Neely’s to loose everything and even cost Jack Neely his life, is still on the books today. The danger is still there!  ORS 223.525 is a deplorable law! It requires that a property in foreclosure be sold for no more than the actual amount of the lien against it! That’s correct, you could lose your home in a government foreclosure for the exact amount of an unpaid lien! This violates the “Nor shall private property be taken for public use without just compensation” Clause of the 5th Amendment to the US Constitution commonly referred to as the “Takings Clause.” In 1995 I wrote Oregon HB 3453 to correct his inequity. If it had passed, it would have prohibited the government, when foreclosing on private property, from selling it for the exact amount of a lien. Instead it would have required the government to sell the property for not less than 80% of its fair market value and return to the judgment debtor, the balance of the sale price after the lien and interest, and all costs associated with conducting the sale were deducted. At least that would be just compensation! It passed the Oregon House 43-7, but a companion bill SB 572 died in the Senate.
   
Editors Note:   One aspect of what Eugene did in forcing the residents of River Road and Santa Clara to hook up to the Eugene Municipal Sewer System without jurisdiction and without actually even representing them was later declared to be illegal, in the Oregon Appellate Court, in the City of Eugene v. Kashin/Nalven.

ANALYSIS:   So much for Jack and Betty Neely’s high principles!  Marilyn Goss and Leroy Bench of Eugene took $7,411 and paid off the Neely’s original sewer assessment lien of $5,000 plus interest, and then regardless of the Neely’s high principles, and with the assistance of the City of Eugene, Lane County and the State of Oregon, they converted that $5,000 bill for sewers (which was illegal) into a $158,000 house in Eugene’s Southwest hills for themselves! The law that allowed this horrible injustice to occur to the Neely’s is ORS 223.525. It must be repealed or amended to conform to the US Constitution! HB 3453 or SB 929 needs to be reintroduced in the legislature and passed in order to protect all private property owners in Oregon and in order to bring the Oregon State Constitution into compliance with the United States Constitution!

How smart is it to keep raising hundreds of millions of dollars to support Republican candidates, and then turn around and hand it over to the Liberal Mainstream Media in order to try to get them elected?  Frankly I think it’s just plain stupid!  If you are a conservative, that money will only be used against you in the General Election, and it will only be used to elect more Liberals and Progressives, who will only continue to over tax you, over regulate you, and generally make your life more miserable.  It will only make you poorer while never serving to empower you!  Isn’t it quite obvious that we are following the wrong paradigm?  It is an unproductive paradigm that will never give us the ideological victory that we want. Then why do Republicans keep on doing this?

Let me offer at least a plausible explanation for what appears to illustrate very well, the definition of insanity.  It’s because for way too long the Republican Party has actually been controlled by east-coast Liberals.  Ronald Reagan encountered the “east-coast effect” when he ran for President the first two times, in 1968 and in 1976. But Reagan wasn’t the first, or the only conservative Republican to experience the determination of the “checked-pants Republicans” to maintain their firm grip on the GOP.

Richard Nixon was not really a conservative, but he was at least marginally better than his opponent Nelson Rockefeller was, at least at the beginning.  Nixon experienced the resistance of the Republican Party Progressives to give up the “keys to the car” and to relinquish control of the vehicle to someone other than themselves.  But Nixon was a “practical man” and he made compromises with the east-coast plutocracy in order to get what he wanted.  The only thing that even remotely resembled conservativism about Richard Nixon was his strong anti –Communist foreign policy.

However Barry Goldwater was a real conservative, and he definitely experienced the Progressive Republican backlash when he ran for the Republican Party nomination in 1964 against Nelson Rockefeller and won.  But this perennial resistance and open hostility to conservative values from the Republican Party Establishment probably cost him the General Election.  He was soundly trumped by Lyndon Johnson with the help from progressives in both political Parties, and the Liberal mainstream media who portrayed Goldwater as a hardline extremist.  The perennial resistance to conservative ideas within the progressive arms of both major political Parties goes back even farther than Goldwater, all the way back to the election of 1952, when Senator Robert Taft, the son of former President William Taft, along with his probable running mate, General Douglas MacArthur were sidelined by the Republican Party Establishment because of their fierce anti-Communist views.

It’s hard to know whether it was just their fierce anti Communist views that were actually the problem for Taft and Mac Arthur, or whether it was really their overall reluctance to take orders from the “powers behind the throne” that angered the Progressive Establishment.  In any event, “The Establishment” got behind Dwight D. Eisenhower who chose Richard Nixon as his running mate, and that was pretty much the end of Taft’s and MacArthur’s chances of winning!  The real conservatives in the race that year were Taft and MacArthur, not Eisenhower and Nixon. They had broad popular support and it was thought that they would be a shoe- in to win.  But that didn’t take into account the determination of “The Progressive Establishment” and the resources that they could bring to the table to accomplish their goal. “The strategy of the Progressive Establishment has always been to get the two most Liberal candidates nominated in the Primaries, and then to elect the most Progressive of them in the General Election.”

For a long time, real conservatives in the Republican Party have been given the short shrift, so this year’s State Primaries come as no surprise to me.  That’s why Michele Bachmann, Rick Santorum, and Ron Paul have all been largely ignored by the Republican Establishment and by the mainstream media.  But is there a way around this perplexing, perennial problem, i.e. the stranglehold that the Progressive Establishment and the mainstream media exercise over our elections, and over the Conservative Movement?  In a word, maybe.

I have been writing articles on politics and current events for over a year now.  I keep focusing on the flawed mechanics of how we keep nominating our candidates, in other words the three M’s of electioneering:   Money, Madison Avenue, and The Media.  All of the electioneering only serves to enrich and empower the Liberal, mainstream press.  Our elections have become nothing more than a cash cow for the Liberal media giants, like ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX.  So what can we do about it?

When Ross Perot, a few years ago referred to that great sucking sound being the noise of American jobs leaving our country, he was only partly correct.  It is also the sound caused every two or four years by all of the money being sucked out of the pockets of conservative and moderate donors to Republican candidates, and being transferred into the New York bank accounts of the Big Liberal Democrats who own most of the mainstream media! Is there anything that we can do to staunch this financial bleeding, and still win elections?  Well, I believe there is.

I post all of my articles about politics and current events on my website <LessGovistheBestGov.com> I have not spent one red cent to advertise in the mainstream media in order to get noticed or to be heard above the din…And guess what?  If you type in the words: Newt Gingrich-progressive into the search engine, or into the address bar on the top of your computer screen, one of my articles on Newt Gingrich is #8 on the search results page, out of over 42,000,000 results! The same thing also happens when you type in the words : Newt Gingrich- establishment.  Out of 157,000,000 results, one of my articles on Newt Gingrich is #10 on the search results page!  But there’s even better news than that.  If you type in Newt Gingrich- progressive- establishment: BINGO you hit the jackpot!  Out of over 34,000,00 results, the top three items on the search page are three of my articles from <LessGovistheBestGov.com> There is also a 4th article from <LessGovistheBestGov.com > a little farther down in the #8 position.  In between are other articles from Glenn Beck, The Blaze, and ABC News. Similar results happen if you type in Mitt Romney- conservative;  or one world order- Newt Gingrich;  or Council on Foreign Relations-progressive-establishment.  When you type these last words into the address bar, the top four articles are all from LessGovistheBestGov.com!

I think this proves that there is definitely a way around the mainstream media chokehold on our political process, and that conservatives can be heard and we can get our message out without depending upon the mainstream media.  And we can educate and inform the electorate without depending upon the media spokes mouths, like George Will and Charles Krauthammer, Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity.  Even more importantly we do not have to drop any more money in venues that are openly hostile to our political ideology.  But I and others like me could use your help.   

You are willing to donate money every year to the RNC, or to Republican candidates like Rick Perry and Hermann Cain.  When it’s all sad and done, and of course it is very sad, they actually bilked you out of your money by pandering to your conservative values, and then turning around and handing it over to phony conservatives, or Liberal Republicans like Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney!  Are you willing to give at least a small percentage of your hard earned money to support legitimate efforts such as mine that are actually trying to advance conservative principles?

What I do isn’t easy and it isn’t free.  I have personally spent over $20,000 of my own personal savings so far to get this website to the point where it is now being heard.  You ask me why it took so much money.  Well first of all, it’s not a lot of money when you compare it to what others are spending, much larger than me to be heard, and their internet search results are not any better than mine in many cases.  In some cases my search results are actually better than theirs!  By that I’m referring to Glenn Beck, the Blaze, Sean Hannity, ABC News, the Huffington Post, Alex Jones and his websites, Prison Planet and Info Wars.com.

But there are other people involved in the day to day operations of the website, and they charge for their time.  There is a website administrator who posts all of the stories and runs the nuts and bolts operation of the website.  She charges $60 an hour.  Four to five hours a week for fifteen months pretty quickly adds up to $15,000. Then there is graphic artwork that sometimes needs to get done.  That costs $60 an hour too.  These people have to put food on their table, and pay their mortgages, and provide for their families.  I use typists other than myself at times, and that costs $10 an hour.  I have an I.T. person who posts my articles on Facebook and Twitter and manages the responses.  She also posts my stories on other websites much bigger than my own, all in an effort to allow me to continue to write. And of course all of my time up till now has been absolutely free.

So after about a year I have spent over $20,000 of my own personal savings to get this website to the position where it can be heard above the din.  Why have I done all of this?  That’s a fair question.  Well, partly because I wanted to do something more meaningful with my life, and partly because I believe that this is a great country, which has been taken over by people in Washington with little minds.  As the great 18th century Irish statesman, Edmund Burke remarked, ”A great nation and little minds go ill together.”  I believe that the greatest nation on earth is worth it!  Freedom is worth preserving and passing on to the next generation.  And because way too many Americans put way too much of their trust in Big Government.  Washington wasn’t created to solve the everyday problems in countless little communities all across our country!  WE were!  It is not possible to hang on to our freedom without a quick return to the principles of limited Constitutional government, and to the very principles upon which our country was founded!

Recently I purchased some necessary equipment and I am learning how to use it, and how to do some of the other necessary things besides writing, that are critical to producing the finished product, which are the stories you read. That includes typing, computer skills, and learning how to navigate around the internet, as well as some of my own posting and the actual publishing of articles.  This will help keep costs down in the future.  If you can see the value in what I am doing, and the potential that my website has to express your own views, and hopefully to advance and even influence the national and local debates, then would you consider making a small donation to help the cause?

We can win the hearts and minds of our fellow Americans, and ultimately we can win elections too!  But it will take education.  That’s the kind of education that probably won’t be coming from our public or private universities.  And you can bet that we won’t be getting any help from the mainstream media!  We will never win by spending more of our hard earned money in the Liberal mainstream media!  The search results pages that I mentioned earlier prove that real conservative voices can be heard right along with the phony ones sponsored by the mainstream media.

A little rag tag group of not more than nineteen airplane hijackers, directed by one evil mastermind  from a remote cave in north eastern Afghanistan, terrorized America on September 11, 2001 and literally sent shock waves through the world community that reverberated all the way from New York to Bombay and back! These shock waves set off a scare that hijacked the whole world, and has held us all  hostage ever since!  9-11 was more than ten years ago, and even though all of the hijackers are surely dead, and Osama bin Laden is supposedly dead too, nevertheless we are all acting like we are living in fear, and we are allowing our government to keep us in this continuous state of fear, so much so that the Patriot Act is still thought by many to be necessary today, –  ten years after Muslim terrorists brought down the World Trade Center in New York!

But if that isn’t bad enough, our Congress and our President are looking for even more ways to take away our precious personal freedom, under the benevolent pretext of “keeping America safe.”  ( I’m sorry, I mean they are managing our freedoms.  They aren’t actually taking our freedoms away. They are just managing them.)  On December 31st 2011, Congress passed and the President signed into law, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).  This is just the latest in a string of offences against our precious Bill of Rights, and it is also the newest example of the Federal government abusing its power!  The National Defense Authorization Act allows individual Americans to be rounded up by our military, in our own country, and in our own homes, and summarily thrown into a military prison, without habeas corpus, or due process, and to be held indefinitely on a mere accusation, with no proof  of guilt!   Enough already!  Aren’t you getting tired of all of this?  Aren’t you just about fed up with all of the scare tactics, the fear mongering, and the over reaction?  It’s been ten years since 9-11.

The only time in our nation’s history that American citizens were subjected to this kind of preemptory action by our own government was during the Civil War, and very briefly during World War II.  All of this is being done today in the name of fighting terror.  I’m starting to become more terrorized by my own Federal government than I am of any foreign threat!  What about you?  All this is being done under the pretense of fighting a “Global War on Terror” for which no actual Declaration of War has ever been issued!  This is what Ron Paul is trying to warn us about!  And he is not the only one who is sounding the alarm, – more than ten years after the original attacks on New York!  Are we ever going to be able to go back to a normal pre 9-11 existence, and a normal attitude with respect to individual liberty and the Bill of Rights?  If we don’t reverse this slippery slide into despotism right now, then I don’t think that there will be many of us left who can remember what “normal” was really like in America!  There are just too many young men and women alive today, who were born after 1990, who have grown up under the Patriot Act, who actually don’t know anything different. They think that strip searches at airports, pat downs, and a myriad of other more than just mere inconveniences are all perfectly normal!  That’s the real danger in all of this.  That soon, another generation of Americans will have grown up, who will never know what it was really like to be free!

Every year Congress considers close to forty thousand new laws!   Please read my article The Un-legislative Branch of Government.  How many of these laws are actually helping to destroy what’s left of our magnificent Bill of Rights?  Forty thousand new laws every year that just keep nibbling away at our fundamental protections in the Bill of Rights, those ten basic laws that keep Americans free from an overambitious and overreaching central government.  How much of the legislation that Congress passes each year, takes away more of our personal freedoms?  I would venture to say that a substantial amount of it does!

The biggest threat to America is not coming from Afghanistan!  It never was.  I’m not saying that Afghanistan was never a threat.  I said it was never the biggest threat!  The biggest threat to America is coming from forces at work right here in our own country, that are trying to destroy America, and take away what’s left of our freedom.  I believe 9-11 happened pretty much the way we are told, and that our attackers were all Muslim terrorists. There is no question about it!  But since then, I believe that the effort to apprehend the bad guys has been infiltrated, taken over, re-directed and used by even worse guys, to destroy the concept of individual nations and national sovereignty, and to eliminate freedom and individual liberty all across the world!   Remember the famous quote from Barack Obama’s personal friend and chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, “Don’t let a good crisis go to waste!”

The greatest threat to America today, is coming from forces at work right here in our own country, forces that are sacking our Federal treasury, and loading us up with a mountain of debt!  These forces are devaluing our currency in order to help American corporations sell their products overseas, while at the same time making most Americans poorer by the very same currency manipulation!   And they are also at work insidiously trying to circumvent our Constitution, and destroy what’s left of our Bill of Rights, in order to render us subservient to the State, and reduce us to something less than a free people.  I say enough!  ENOUGH OF ALL OF IT!

That little conspiracy to attack America, which was planned from a cave in Afghanistan, has spread across the world like wild fire, and it has morphed into something much different than what it originally was!  It has spread across the entire planet, and leaders in government everywhere like Rahm Emanuel and Barack Obama, are using this crisis to advance their own interests, and the interests of those they serve. Everywhere in the world, people in their respective countries are losing whatever rights to freedom of thought, freedom of speech, and freedom of movement that they originally had, in order to supposedly “protect” them!  Frankly we have more to fear from our own governments!

It’s been over ten years since 9-11, and two foreign wars later, and there hasn’t been another major terrorist attack in America!  It’s time to repeal The Patriot Act and return to some semblance of normalcy, before we forget what normal really is!  And it’s not too late to revoke certain parts of the recently passed National Defense Authorization Act too!  We need to be protected more from our own government in Washington, than we do from Afghan terrorists!  We need more protection from Washington than we do from any foreign threat, including Iran and China.  And people all across the world likewise need to be protected from their own governments, which are effectively returning them to servitude and economic slavery!

Terrorist acts in our own country are miniscule compared to the garden variety of crime that occurs every day on our streets, such as burglary, rape, murder, assault and battery, drug dealing and possession of illegal drugs.  Terrorism in America doesn’t even account for 1/100th of one percent of all of the prisoners in our Federal prison system, not to mention all of the inmates in our State and County jails!

Last year the Patriot Act was set to expire, and Congress had the opportunity to just let it quietly fade away into history, as an anomaly, that was unfortunately necessary to deal with what most of us believed ten years ago, was a serious threat to our country.  But rather than allowing it to lapse, Congress renewed The Patriot Act instead, which continues to allow our Bill of Rights to be used as a doormat by the Federal government to walk all over us!  It was time to end The Patriot Act last year, not to renew it!

Instead of getting better, things just keep getting worse.  Now in addition to The Patriot Act, Barack Obama, with the help of a Democrat controlled Senate, and a Republican House of Representatives, has signed into law The National Defense Authorization Act, which goes even farther than The Patriot Act does when it comes to trampling on our Bill of Rights, and exercising near Martial Law powers!  And for what clear and present danger are we willing to give up our civil rights?  It was President Franklin Delano Roosevelt who said, “If you are willing to give up your freedom for a little security, then you don’t deserve either, and you will probably lose both!”

The last serious attack on our country was over ten years ago!  Right now we allow ourselves to be seriously interrogated at airports, scanned like a box of fruit loops at a checkout stand, only with radar detecting devices instead of light emitting diodes, and we are patted down before we are allowed to board a plane, or a train.  While that may still be necessary in order to keep the skies and the rails safe, there are city engineers who are installing cameras in most major cities of the world, just in order to monitor what goes on in the streets!  And they are creating new laws like The National Defense Authorization Act to haul people off to a military jail indefinitely, without due process of law, or the benefit of habeas corpus, and before we are even found guilty of committing a crime! This is nuts!  All of this is being done under the pretense of a “World Wide War on Terror.” Enough is Enough already!

We have more to fear from the overreaching hand of our own Big Government back in Washington than we do from Afghani terrorists eight thousand miles away.  If we would effectively go after the terrorists in their own countries, in other words go after the source of the problem in the countries where it originates, instead of allowing the bad guys to come here, then we wouldn’t even have to think about doing some of the exceptional things we are doing right here in our own country!  The War on Terror which clearly had a legitimate purpose ten years ago, has now become an obvious overreach today!

Well I thought I had seen just about everything in my sixty years, but apparently I still have a lot more to learn about politics and human nature!  My latest discovery came last week when I read a newspaper headline that proclaimed, “Barack Obama Wants Smaller Government.”  Well I’ll be darned, I thought!  What do you make of that?  After spending us into the poor house for the past three years, our young, profligate spending President Obama, now supposedly wants to “reduce” the size of government.   Only one year before he has to run for re-election, and the spendthrift Obama has finally seen the light!  I wonder what other conservative causes he will begin to “embrace” next, as we get closer to the election! 

After doubling the National Debt from  8 trillion dollars to 16 trillion dollars in just the first three years of his administration, he has finally decided to rein in government spending, and reduce the size of government, or at least to cut back a little on the growth of government.  At least that was the conclusion reached by the Associated Press, with the headline to their story gladly furnished by my local liberal newspaper.  “Barack Obama wants smaller government” the headline read!  What a blatantly dishonest attempt to get votes!  It reminds me of Barack Obama’s American Jobs Act a couple of months ago.  The only job that Barack Obama’s American Jobs Act was concerned about, was Barack Obama’s own job in November!  If the President had any concern at all about American jobs (other than his own) then he wouldn’t have waited until his third year in office, when he is running for re-election, to do anything at all about it? Why didn’t he make jobs a priority in his first year in office, or his second year in office?  Isn’t it obvious what he is really concerned about?

By the way, only one week after reading that headline in the newspaper, the President signed into law another alarming extension of the National Debt Ceiling, to 16.2 trillion dollars!  It just seems like it’s business as usual in Washington!  Our double minded President who is of mixed opinion as well as mixed origin, seems to be backtracking already on his one week old resolution to reduce the size of government.  Our overloaded Ship of State is sinking, and it is tilted on its side in much the same way as the Italian cruise ship that went down off the coast of Italy this week, but in our case the crew that is in charge is still dining sumptuously in the state lounge on pheasant and truffles at the taxpayer’s expense, while the ship continues to sink!

The young Obama administration is like a young child in a candy store with a brand new ten dollar bill in his pocket.  The excited little youngster decides to buy up all the candy that his ten dollar bill will afford him.  Then he promptly devours all of the candy, right down to the very last delectable bite!  And then he winds up with a great big stomach ache!  That’s our young President Obama, although I think that we are the ones who are actually suffering the stomach ache!  But at least in the candy store analogy, the ten dollar bill probably wasn’t borrowed, and it didn’t have to be paid back with interest!  And furthermore, when the ten dollar bill was all spent, there was no more candy to be had, no matter how hard the young child protested!

But not so with our young President.  He just keeps spending even after he runs out of our money!  And now after three years of this “reign of financial insanity” in Washington, he supposedly wants to cut back on spending, and rein in the growth of government, a growth by the way which he fueled with the bailouts of Wall Street, the takeover of the auto industry, subsidies to the secondary home mortgage market through Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and his crown jewel:  ObamaCare!  Now, after all of the excesses of the first three years of the Obama administration, he supposedly wants to return to smaller government, and restore some kind of financial discipline to Washington D.C.  I’m sorry, I just don’t believe it!  This is all just electioneering propaganda!  How stupid do these liberal newspapers and this progressive administration think that the American people really are?  That’s quite an about face for Obama, don’t you think, if it was true?  But it isn’t true!  That would be like Karl Marx accepting Jesus, and becoming a born again Christian!  It just ain’t gonna happen!

So what’s the real story behind the headline, “Obama Wants Smaller Government”?   Let’s just say that you don’t have to dig very deep before you hit pay dirt.  Just some preliminary scratching around on the surface will do for this investigation!   If Barack Obama wants a smaller government then I am the King of Saudi Arabia!  So stand back Pinocchio, because I don’t want to get poked in the eye by your rapidly growing nose, whenever the news of your latest journalistic achievement finally reaches the “truth- or- lie detector’s desk!”  This is where the length of reporter’s noses is determined for the rest of all journalistic time!   And when your latest dilly of a story finally reaches his desk, and he realizes what a whopping big lie you have told, then your nice little nose is in store for a nice little lift!  Your new nose will be the subject of endless speculation.  It might even qualify for a special place in the Guinness Book of Records.  God only knows what you will do for your next story, but I can probably imagine.  It might go something like this, “Obama Admits Signature Health Care Legislation Was a Big Mistake!”

But we will probably not see that “mea culpa” until Obama has tried just about everything else, and everything else has failed.  Only when he realizes that he doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in Hell of being re-elected, only at that point will the “silver tongued celeb” say or do just about anything to stay in power.  Hopefully by then it will be too late. Nothing short of creating a war in the Middle East, God forbid, will be able to save his hide, or shake the connection that has been firmly planted in the public’s mind, of a smooth talking salesman who promised them the moon, but only delivered a mountain of public debt instead, to burden our children and our grandchildren, and subject future generations to a much bleaker future, as they struggle to figure out how to pay for it all.  And he did it all just in order to try to enhance his own personal legacy!

George Washington wrote that, “The greatest title of all is to be called an honest man.”  The qualities to look for in a leader are no different today, than they were back in 1783.  The most important quality of all to look for in a Presidential candidate is honesty!  There are many different words in the English language to describe the same thing:  honesty, character, integrity, virtue, morality, and principles.  This is the stuff of which good leaders are made!

Intelligence, and the ability to look and sound good on television, or the ability to debate and  persuade other people, are too frequently considered to be more important than basic core values!  This is a mistake!  These are ‘second tier’ traits that are only useful, if a leader first possesses the foundational core principles of honesty and integrity!  Honesty and integrity are every bit as important today as they were 200 years ago, and all of our Founding Fathers shared this opinion.  For instance Thomas Jefferson wrote “In matters of principle stand like a rock.  In other matters swim with the current.”  John Quincy Adams wrote that, “I would rather be found guilty of making a serious mistake in judgment, than to be accused of being even a little bit insincere.”

There are four candidates left in the Republican Primary, going into South Carolina.  Two of them are honest men, and two of them would say almost anything in order to get elected, and they have said just about anything to get elected in the past!  Two of them are honest men, and two of them are not!  The two that are honest are Ron Paul and Rick Santorum.  You may not agree with everything that they say, but both of them have been very consistent throughout their political careers.  A vote for either one of them would not be a mistake.  The two candidates who would tell you just about anything in order to get elected, and who have done so in the past, are Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney!

It is important to be able to tell the difference between truth and lies.  It is just as important to be able to distinguish between the motives of different people who are saying the same thing, and to know the difference between someone who actually means what they are saying, and someone who does not.  In other words, it is important to be able to distinguish between the genuine, and the counterfeit!  See my article entitled Counterfeit Conservatives, on LessGovistheBestGov.com  from January, 2012.  It is not sufficient to just say the right thing.  One must actually believe it!  Newt Gingrich doesn’t believe anything that he is saying right now!  He is just running for another national political office, for what must be at least the tenth time!  He is a masterful politician who is just trying to get re-elected!  How do I know this?  Can I look into his heart? Of course not.  But I can read his long political record for the past thirty two years!

This National Election is not about some kind of religious conversion that Newt Gingrich claims to have experienced.  It is about politics, pure and simple!  It is about a return to limited government!  Newt Gingrich has never been a proponent of small government in his life, NEVER!  But he is well aware of the importance of the TEA Party, and he is trying to ride that wave back into a position of power and influence again!  Whether or not he has actually sought for, and found redemption and forgiveness from God, this only God knows. Newt Gingrich’s long political record is public knowledge for anyone who cares to know!  His past record and his recent record prove that he is lying now!  I could go all the way back to 1979, when he teamed up with President Jimmy Carter to create the US Department of Education, and grew the Federal Government way beyond its Constitutional role and authority.   But I only need to go back as far as last year, when he was traveling around the country with Barack Obama’s current Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan, promoting Obama’s “Race to the Top” educational policies, and even more Federal control over education, in order to prove that Newt Gingrich hasn’t really changed at all. Politically speaking, he is the same Newt Gingrich today, as he was thirty years ago, and he is still just as smart as a fox too!

Now you can’t agree with everything that someone says, but Thomas Jefferson said it best when he wrote, “In matters of principle stand like a rock…”  The real question is this:  Is limited Constitutional government really a matter of principle for you?  If it is, then you can’t allow yourself to be hoodwinked, or hornswoggled by Newt Gingrich! It is not possible to agree with somebody all of the time, but it is possible to agree with them enough of the time, and to agree with their core principles, in order to vote for them.  And to me, lying is just not one of the core principles that I can vote for!

I would rather vote for an honest man that I don’t agree with some of the time, than for a dishonest man that I can’t agree with at all.  The fact is I just can’t agree with lying in order to get elected!  Besides the fact, if Newt and Mitt are willing to lie in order to get elected, then you really don’t know what they actually believe, do you?  That’s the problem with Newt Gingrich or Mitt Romney.  And if I have to choose between Gingrich and Romney, I would pick Romney every single time!  Why?  Because in spite of the fact that he hasn’t been consistent over the years, and in spite of all of his convenient flipflops that are now coming back to haunt him, and in spite of the fact that he hasn’t shown the courage to publically stand up for his real beliefs…, he has at least managed to remain married to the same woman for thirty four years, and together they have raised a strong, healthy family, and that says a lot!  So what if he doesn’t have a lot of courage.  We’re not sending him to lead a division of Marines into combat!

As far as Newt Gingrich is concerned, all I can say is this.  If you can’t honor your marriage vows, not just once, but twice, to two different women, then you probably won’t honor your sworn oath to uphold the Constitution!  And I can’t vote for a man like that!

The Devil comes as an angel of light, and he sounds so much like a messenger from God that if it were possible, he would deceive even the very elect.

Of course it is not possible the Bible proclaims, because God is the guarantor of our salvation!  But who or what is the guarantor of our personal freedom?  In the United States, the Constitution is the great guarantor of our freedom!

But how can this amazing document, which is the greatest achievement of our Founding Fathers, who have long ago died, defend even one of our sacred liberties from the encroachments of living politicians who have more than once tried?  The plain and simple truth is that no assemblage of mere words, no matter how lofty or high-minded they are, can defend us unless we are first willing to defend our Constitution. So like-minded conservatives and libertarians must insist upon strict compliance with the true meaning, and the clear intent of the Constitution! 

The enemies of freedom are always those progressive politicians who try to twist and distort the Constitution to conform to their own progressive agenda!  No one should be allowed to reconfigure or transform the Constitution to satisfy their own personal, or their Party’s goals!

Today, some so-called conservative pundits, and radio and TV talk show hosts, sound very much like real conservatives.  But they are actually wolves in sheep’s clothing!  They are trying to derail the TEA Party train!  They are trying to suck the wind from the TEA Party’s sails!  They use the same jargon that real conservatives use, and if it is possible, and you can count on the fact that it is possible, they will deceive the very conservative voters that they are trying to influence.

So who are these phony messengers of conservative principles?  Well I’m sorry to say they are people you know and trust.  They are media personalities that you have grown accustomed to hearing on the radio and television, and reading in the newspapers.

Rush Limbaugh is an avid golfer, and he is supposedly the most popular prophet of conservative values.  He is someone who has made more than a small fortune over the years, leading his congregation of conservative voters, but he frequently leads his followers off into the rough, on the right side of the fairway where you can often find him on the weekends.

Sean Hannity can never seem to get to the end of his long list of progressives, liberals, and RINO Republicans that he is both willing and eager to showcase on his radio and TV programs.  And if he ever does run out of new and interesting liberal guests to promote, then he will just go back to the beginning of his list and start over again.  There is Dick Morris, Geraldo Rivera, Bob Beckel, Ann Coulter, Lindsey Graham, John McCain, Mitt Romney, and Newt Gingrich, just to name a few.

Of course, we have all heard and watched Bill O’Reilly at FOX News over the years, position himself squarely in the middle on most issues, or straddling the fence so often that one could not be blamed for coming to the conclusion that he must wear a steel jock strap!

But what about the next generation of radio and TV talk show hosts, the ‘next-gen’ talkers?  Laura Ingraham, I’m sorry to say is pushing her favorite progressive Republican, Newt Gingrich. Doug Urbanski was last heard promoting Mitt Romney as 2011 drew to a close, before his radio show was canceled.

The Midnight Radio Network clowns, which broadcast from the great State of Texas, a place that you would normally think is conservative, are a couple of phonies too, who are shilling for Newt Gingrich!  How do I know that?  I called their show once, and I tried to get just a few of the pertinent facts out about the disgraced former Speaker’s record.  But they pushed the little red button that disconnected me before I could! Moments later after they jettisoned my call, they commented that if I wanted to trash Newt Gingrich, I should start my own website and do it there, but not on their show.  So I actually have first-hand experience with those two phonies from Texas.

And I have taken their advice too.  I started a website called NewtWorldOrderGingrich.com.  The two Midnight Radio Network stooges disconnected me after only about 10 seconds on the air.  This was after they had spent the first twenty minutes of their program in a monologue glorifying and praising Newt Gingrich as the only conservative who could actually beat Barack Obama.  There must be a lot of pot-bellied pigs in Texas, because that sure is a lot of hogwash! 

Any Republican candidate can beat Barack Obama.  That’s why it is so important that we get behind a real conservative!  We have a wonderful opportunity before us, if we can just get a real conservative to lead the Republican ticket.

Last but not least there is Mark Levin, a man who has a lot of intellectual and ideological influence among conservative voters, and a man I actually like listening to most of the time…  But as we get closer to the actual date of the State Primaries, he seems to be reserving an awful lot of respect and support for guess who, Newt Gingrich!

The other day on his radio program, Mark Levin called Congressman Ron Paul, “A real nut job who can’t beat Obama.”  Oh really!  Does Mark Levin now think that he speaks for the entire nation?  Let me remind him that he doesn’t even speak for the Republican Party!  If Mark Levin thinks he has his hand on the pulse of America, and that he knows what most Republicans want, then maybe we should just let him pick the Republican nominee for us!  After all it would certainly be a lot quicker and cheaper!

Levin has ramped up his attacks on Ron Paul.  He has taken them to a whole new level of rancor.  He has called Ron Paul a crackpot and a neo-confederate, whatever that means!  That’s the first time I’ve ever heard that term used in so-called ‘civil’ discourse, broadly speaking.  And he has called all of Ron Paul’s supporters jerks and morons.

If anyone is fracturing the Republican Party right now, it’s not Ron Paul!  It’s people like Mark Levin with their hateful rhetoric.  It sounds to me like he is getting very desperate.  Ron Paul is not my first choice.  I supported Michele Bachman, now Rick Santorum, and then Ron Paul!  But if we don’t get a real conservative nominee this time, I’m ready to throw my support to Ron Paul as a Third Party candidate, no matter what anyone says!  And the Republican Establishment better think long and hard before they try to shove another phony RINO Republican progressive down our throats again!

It seems to me that Ron Paul wouldn’t even get Mark Levin’s token support if he turns out to be the Republican Party’s nominee.  Well that’s exactly the way I feel about Newt ‘World Order’ Gingrich!  I will not support Newt Gingrich under any circumstances.  I will not support a nominee who describes himself as a ‘Real Politik’ Wilsonian.  I will not support someone who is a fan of author Alvin Toffler’s books, The Third Wave and Creating a New Civilization: the Politics of the Third Wave.  I will not support a man who views our Constitution as an impediment or an obstacle that just gets in his way.

Newt once said, that in order to understand him you had to read Toffler’s book, The Third Wave.  He is a big fan of Toffler’s ideas for a new world civilization.  Toffler writes that our current form of government is obsolete, and that it must be replaced with something better, some new kind of government that will work for today.  Those are the kind of ideas that Newt Gingrich is a big fan of!  That is exactly what the far-left leaning political commentator, Fareed Zakaria believes too!  And guess what?  They are both members of the ‘forward-looking’, progressive thinking Council on Foreign Relations.   I won’t vote for a progressive just because they happen to be a Republican, or because they might be one step better than an outright Marxist!

When Mark Levin isn’t openly ridiculing Ron Paul, he is being very disrespectful of the twelve-term Congressman.  Levin refers to the Congressman as ‘Rue’ Paul, as in you will ‘rue the day you ever voted for him’.  But although he denies it, Mark Levin is also doing a lot to advance the fortunes of Newt Gingrich, just by claiming that Mitt Romney is the official progressive Establishment candidate in the race.  Levin says that Romney is a member of the Republican Establishment, while he totally ignores Newt Gingrich’s extensive Establishment credentials!  Newt has a long record as a progressive ideologue, and a 22-year member of the Council on Foreign Relations.  He was the House Minority Whip, and later the Speaker of the House, and the third in line of succession to the President.  There is no bigger member of the progressive political Establishment than Newt ‘World Order’ Gingrich.  See NewtWorldOrderGingrich.com.  Also see Newt Worthy or Not,   Newt Gingrich Update, and Newt Gingrich Consummate Politician and Progressive Establishment Republican. 

We have far more to fear from another progressive like Newt Gingrich than we do from a strict constructionist like Congressman Ron Paul!

As far as Dr. Paul’s foreign policy goes, and as extreme as some of his foreign policy statements sound, there is no stricter adherent in Congress to the Constitution than Ron Paul!  Even if you disagree with some of his more extreme foreign policy views, and I do, you still have to admit that his foreign policy positions over the years are far more in line with the views of our Founding Fathers (Washington, Adams, Jefferson, and Madison) than any other candidate who is running in the Republican Presidential Primary!  With that said, we also live in a very different world today, and discretion should be the general order of the day.  It is certainly the better part of valor!

Next, let’s talk about some phony conservative newspaper columnists.  Let’s start out with one of Mark Levin’s acknowledged friends, former Democrat, Charles Krauthammer.  A couple of months ago, Krauthammer told the TEA Party activists to pack it up and go home, when they were right in the middle of trying to keep the pressure up on Congress to make serious spending cuts in order to balance the Federal Budget and to reduce the Federal Debt and deficits.

Ultimately Congress did not make the necessary and serious spending cuts, and Krauthammer was perfectly okay with that.  He told the TEA Party in his column that they had made their point, and they should just go home!  Why?  Because Charles Krauthammer is still a Democrat in his heart, and in his mind too, even though he prefers to register now as a Republican.  He probably registers Republican just in order to pull our Party farther to the left too.  See my article, Farther to the Left Too.

By the way, Mark Levin calls Charles Krauthammer his personal friend!  Another one of Levin’s friends is political commentator and strategist, Bob Beckel.  He actually still is a Democrat.  They say birds of a feather flock together.  Well I guess they really do!

George Will may never have been a Democrat before, but he frequently doesn’t sound like a real conservative either.  He is so far removed from the average American voter, and buried so deep inside of the Washington Beltway, that he couldn’t tell the difference between a blue-collar worker and a blue light special.

So what about the primary cause of all of this debate and divisiveness, Newt Gingrich, the disgraced former Speaker of the House?  Newt has such a long political record that all you have to do is read what he has done in the past, in order to know what he will do in the future.

Newt describes himself as a ‘Real Politik’ Wilsonian, and he said in 1995 that if you wanted to understand him, you had to read The Third Wave by Alvin Toffler.  This book advocates for a progressive new world order, in which adultery, homosexuality, and other forms of immorality are all considered to be perfectly normal and even desirable!  That’s something that Newt Gingrich knows a lot about!  For anybody that doesn’t know history, Woodrow Wilson was a progressive Democratic President in the early 1900s, who was as far to the left in his lifetime as Barack Obama is today.  See Chronicling America’s Progressive Slide to Socialism.  Newt referred to himself as a ‘Real Politik’ Wilsonian!

All of these people are Mark Levin’s friends to one degree or another: Ann Coulter, Charles Krauthammer, Bob Beckel, Sean Hannity, and of course the ever-present Rush Limbaugh.  Together they form a very formidable defense of the status quo, and of the Establishment.  This almost impenetrable defensive line has been assembled in order to block you, and manipulate you, the Republican voters!  Together they probably reach 40 to 50 million Americans every day, with their counterfeit conservative message!  Mark Levin and the rest of his friends are so deep into Newt Gingrich’s public relations campaign that you would have to drag them to the surface with an trans-Atlantic underwater cable!

Finally in closing, I would like to encourage you to think about the whole issue of taxation from a slightly different perspective than the one that is usually presented by the mainstream media (FOX News included).  Everyone is talking about taxes today, whether we should raise them or lower them, or leave them basically the same.  One side claims that we need to raise taxes.  The other side says that we need to lower taxes across the board, in order to avert disaster.  Both sides are concentrating their message on how taxes directly affect middle-income people and families.  However, they are both failing to point out the effect that tax revenues have on our Federal Government, a.k.a. Frankenstein.

If you want to reduce the size and the impact of this Federal monster, then you must not allow the Federal Government to increase its revenues, by any means, no matter where the money comes from!  Whether it comes from rich people, or middle class people, it still goes right into the same old pockets to feed the same insatiable appetite, and to satisfy the addiction to revenue of our Federal Government!  See my article, Addicted to Revenue.

America’s fledgling broadcast industry began in the early part of the 20th century in New York City.  Therefore, it is only logical to assume that from its earliest beginnings in the 1930s and 1940s, the business of broadcasting television would be primarily dominated and controlled by prominent New York liberals and other members of the east coast Establishment.  This historical fact can be very easily verified.

The nascent broadcast industry, with its television network news divisions, was headquartered on the east coast in and around New York City, where most of the population was centered.  They were financed by big New York banks, and organized by wealthy New Yorkers, who were typically progressives.  In retrospect, there is nothing at all unusual or unexpected about the way that television began, and it explains very well why all of the major news networks are still very liberal today!

At roughly about the same time that the television industry was getting started on the east coast, another young industry was growing up on the west coast.  It was born in the 1920s, and it had already been around for about ten years by the time that television came along.  It was centered outside of Los Angeles in a little known village called Hollywood.  This became the entertainment and film industry that we know today, i.e. the movie business.  And Hollywood became the entertainment and film capital of the world!  The principles behind the movie business were west coast liberals.  There isn’t a whole lot of difference between east coast liberals and west coast liberals, except for the slightly different nature of their business interests!  For most of the 20th century there was a huge wall of separation between these two growing industries that disseminated information to the American public.  This ‘Iron Stage Curtain’ was mainly self-imposed, primarily by the more established Hollywood movie moguls, who were jealous of the up-start TV business, and would not share or release any of their content for broadcast on television.  Any maneuvering by one industry to gain control of the other would have almost certainly been opposed by the courts, and viewed as a form of monopoly.  I can say this confidently, without any hesitation because those same courts issued various legal rulings in the 1940s and the 1950s that prevented Hollywood Film Houses from owning or controlling the movie theaters that showed their films.  Hollywood tried very hard to get a foothold in both the theater business and the budding broadcast industry, but they were not allowed to dominate or interfere in these other two enterprises.  And to paraphrase a famous television news anchorman of the day, “That’s just the way it was!”

The developing broadcast industry was as separate from the movie and entertainment business as the east is from the west, or at least as the east coast is from the west coast.  They were as separate as fact is from fiction, or as truth is from lies!  The television business on the east coast through their affiliated stations, broadcast mainly the news and information that the nation needed to know.  The movie business on the west coast specialized in pure entertainment, which was mostly fiction, and while they did produce some early documentaries (notably to help with the war effort), they took no great pains to remain completely factual.  Hollywood was mostly, and still is mostly, all about entertainment (and propaganda)!

There was obviously some overlap between the two growing industries.  Because there are 24 hours in a day, television stations began to experiment with some early programs that were not really newsworthy.  They were primarily just entertainment in nature, like variety shows.  In that category there was The Ed Sullivan Show, and The Bob Hope Show.  They tried their hand at comedy shows too, like Laurel and Hardy,  The Three Stooges, and just for the children, Bozo the Clown.  They also produced some early sitcoms like The Life of Riley, I Love Lucy,  Leave It To Beaver and  The Jack Benny Show  One of the most popular sitcoms that I grew up with was called The Honeymooners, staring Jackie Gleason as Ralph Cramden, a New York City bus driver.  All of these early sitcoms generally portrayed life in America the way that it was, and not the way they wanted it to be!  They just focused on telling a story, and entertaining people by making them laugh at caricatures of themselves.

In retrospect it was all very innocent and harmless in the beginning.  There were NO hidden messages, NO political agenda, and NO social engineering built in the content of the programs that were produced for television.  But I think World War II changed all that.  Some people in broadcasting began to take notice of the power that television had over people, as it was then being used in Germany to program and control an entire nation.  Of course the same thing can be done with radio, and the film industry as well, but as I’ve already noted, Hollywood was never very concerned about telling the truth anyway!  Films were mostly fictional productions.  And radio is not as powerful a means of control as television is.

Gradually, some of the early television programming in America turned from purely news and documentaries, and other innocent forms of entertainment, to purely fictionalized storytelling with a hidden message.  From there, the programs morphed again into full-fledged social engineering projects, complete with their own political and social agenda!  Instead of just trying to sell the viewers something in the frequent commercial breaks between segments of the show, now the entire production was turned into a massive propaganda tool that was hammered home for sixty minutes every evening, usually five nights a week, for twenty-six weeks a year.  Television is primarily interested in selling the viewer on some particular thought, idea, or behavior!

In case you haven’t already noticed, you can detect this social engineering built into almost every television show you watch today, which is why I like to say that you aren’t really watching programs on television.  You are being programmed!  You are being conditioned to think and react in a certain way. Your acceptable responses to certain situations are actually being dictated to you by the interests that control Hollywood and the media!  That’s because somewhere along the way, during the last half of the 20th century, the wall of separation that once existed between Hollywood and New York, between movies and television, and between the film and entertainment industry on the one hand, and the television and news broadcasting business on the other hand, was torn down.  Hollywood movie moguls wound up in control of the whole enchilada, including the major New York television networks and their corporate news divisions!  Hollywood wound up in control of the whole ball of wax!  I guess their persistence finally paid off!  What they couldn’t accomplish in the 1930s and 1940s, they somehow managed to pull off in the 1970s and the 1980s.

Today Hollywood owns two of the three major television networks.  Walt Disney owns ABC, and FOX (20th Century Fox) owns FOX News corp.  So not only is today’s contemporary storytelling on TV purely fictional, but it is also laced with both hidden and overt messaging, and directed towards a specific social and/or political goal!  The lines between fact and fiction, and between news and entertainment have become so blurred that you can hardly recognize the difference anymore! Fact or fable, news or entertainment, reality or reality show.  It’s hard to tell the difference today!  What did you expect to get if you put Hollywood movie executives in control of broadcasting the evening news?  As I said before, Hollywood has never been very big on telling the truth.  The only thing that matters to Hollywood movie executives is the bottom line!

To see what has happened to the news, all you have to do is look at the way it is being presented on FOX News, the most popular news network in America.  Just look at the presentation. There are so many unnecessary visual graphics, and mindless, irrelevant, sound and noise distractions that have nothing at all to do with the news or the story being told.  But gee, it sure does look neat doesn’t it, especially if you grew up with boom boxes in your bedroom.  They have all of those stupid little blinking and flashing lights.  Perhaps it’s just me, but I actually prefer a real stereo receiver over those juvenile boom boxes with all of their little flashing lights.

Today, if you’re paying attention, you can detect the hardcore social engineering at work in almost every television program produced by the major networks.  That’s why they are called programs!  Here is an example.  Even though gays and homosexuals represent only a very small segment of American society, the so-called gay lifestyle is featured on almost every TV sitcom, way out of proportion to their actual numbers.  And gays are usually portrayed in a very favorable light, as if it is somehow kind of cool to be gay. The Hollywood portrayal of gays and lesbians just focuses on the good side of the individual, and not on the downside of their self-indulgent and self-destructive behavior.  Hollywood’s presentation of homosexuality doesn’t include the negative consequences of their lifestyle, and its harmful effects upon society, unless it is to point out how mean and unfair the rest of society is.  You will almost never see the gay lifestyle portrayed on television or in the movies in a negative way, or as it really is: lonely, unfulfilling, and generally harmful to society.

What are Hollywood and New York trying to accomplish with this kind of programming?  Television has definitely become an effective tool of social engineering.  In the right hands of skilled social engineers/producers, or directors, television can be relied upon to excise a social cancer, every bit as harmful to society as a real cancer is to a real cancer patient, and they can do it every bit as effectively as a skillful surgeon removes a real tumor from an oncology patient.  But in the wrong hands television can destroy our society!  Television uses both explicit and subliminal messages woven right into the fabric of the shows.  Hollywood is seriously trying to change society, while at the same time they are trying to keep us entertained.  Whether they are doing it with hidden messages or explicit messages, or whether they are merely trying to keep millions of Americans comfortably distracted, so that they are not paying attention to what is actually going on around them, it doesn’t really matter.  They are still accomplishing the same thing!  They are causing millions of Americans to opt out from reality, and they are Changing Our World While Keeping Us Largely Entertained.

Looking at a political map of how Iowa voted in their recent Republican Caucus, reminds me a lot of what the political map of Oregon looked like after the last General Election.  The entire State of Oregon was colored red to represent Republicans, except for a tiny little area around Portland, Eugene, and Corvallis. The entire State of Oregon voted Republican, except for the major metropolitan areas of Portland, Eugene, and Corvallis.  Those were the only areas in the State that the Democrats carried!  And that is also where most of the people live!  That’s exactly the same way it was in Iowa after their Caucus!  The only parts of Iowa that didn’t vote for the more conservative candidate, Rick Santorum, were the cities of Dubuque, Des Moines, Davenport, Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, and just across the river from Omaha, Nebraska.  See:  Map Link.  Those were the political strongholds of the more liberal candidate, Mitt Romney.

Why is that?

I believe it is because the farther that people get from the land, the more liberal they become.  And the bigger the city they live in, the more liberal they are!  The more we forsake sensible outlooks and sensible solutions, the more we put our trust in nonsensical solutions.  Or to put it another way, the farther that we human beings remove ourselves from God’s green earth, and  God’s plan for us, the more we are prone to putting our trust in man’s solutions, or in our own solutions of humanism, liberalism, progressivism, and Marxism, in other words in Red Solutions.

When the top elected official of your political Party who is also your country’s President, or past President, endorses a candidate to run for that high office, it means something!  It is not insignificant.  It represents a symbolic passing of the torch!  Not quite an anointing  with oil, but more than a mere casual nod of approval, it is kind of like the white smoke that rises from the Sistine Chapel, that signals the moment when the Cardinals of Vatican City have chosen their next Pope.  In the realm of politics it is the traditional signal that the ‘Establishment’ has selected its next leader!

But what does it mean when a renegade maverick, without clearly consistent principles, and totally undeserving of our Party’s nomination for President, but who received it anyway, and then failed to gain the necessary approval of a majority of American voters, only two years later endorses someone else to pick up the Party’s fallen mantle, and to be our country’s next leader?  What does it mean?…  Well, to me it means absolutely nothing!  It obviously doesn’t carry the same gravitas!  To me it doesn’t mean a whole hell of a lot!  But to the liberal, mainstream news media, apparently it is worth at least a passing mention.

So for their sakes, I will briefly discuss exactly what it means to our Party, and to our country, the fact that John McCain has decided to grace Mitt Romney with his endorsement.  It means that the old two-timing renegade from the Grand Canyon State, is trying to keep his name, and his face alive in the news, and he is just trying to remain relevant!  However, beyond that it will take me just three more words to describe the entire impact that a McCain endorsement will have on the Republican Primary. Absolute Zero Impact!
