As our representatives vote on health care reform legislation, they should consider the large number of business owners who are against government-controlled health care, such as myself. My husband and I are each small business owners, and would be forced to “fire” all employees, hiring them back as contract laborers due to the health care costs we would bear for employees. As contract laborers, all taxes would become their responsibility. Talking to other CEOs, I’ve found that the same conclusion has been found by small businesses across the country.
But this really isn’t a good solution. If the US goes to a socialist form of health care, we will still pay.
How many Americans are going to set aside a portion of their income for taxes, I wonder?

don’t ask Burris about the constitution. He has shown his understanding of it is lacking. And rememberm this is no comparison to auto insurance, which is required by the states, not the feds.

Best comment I heard on this healthcare bill:”You are going to tax my knee replacement to pay for another lady’s abortion?”

The leftists are using the phrase “does not add to the deficit” to hide the taxes involved, and make the uneducated (Obama) masses think it is free.

Congressman Lucas, thank you for your thoughts, however, in all honesty (and this is my opinion) this entire concept needs to be shifted in a totally different direction and done so immediately.

I’m not an attorney and I definitely don’t play one on TV, but none of the major items in this semi-vapor-bill could possibly stand the test of constitutionality.

Please implore your colleagues to literally rise up and fight this, using all weapons at your disposal.

If this legislation is implemented, millions of American lives could easily be at stake along politically mandated lines.

Once the never-intended-to-actually-be-cut Medicare “savings” are fully restored, $2.5-Trillion over ten years would be a much more accurate figure.

And, since raising taxes during a recession will cause a sharp drop in federal revenue collection, government run healthcare is likely to be financed with $2-Trillion in deficit spending.

And, that precludes any of the enormous cost overruns that normally accompany all government entitlement programs.

Don’t just continue to oppose…

Expose. Then, offer a viable alternative that will actually lower the cost of healthcare for all Americans.

And, don’t forget to do something about the $60-Billion/Year in Medicare fraud.
