There are a lot of elected Republicans who don’t know how to do anything but lose, or kowtow to an authority figure. When Bush was in power, they gave him everything he wanted, including every bloated spending bill that came down the pike. When Obama was in power, they let Obama run roughshod over them.

Their cowardice and complicity with Obama’s agenda contributed directly to the rise of the oafish Trump. They know nothing but the protection of their own petty titles and privileges, and are completely devoid of principle or backbone.

So of course, before the battle is over, they have run scampering with their tails between their legs to Vichy, and welcomed Trump into Paris. No point fighting for the future of the Republican party if it diminishes their chances of winning the next election, after all.

In February, Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn bluntly said that a Donald Trumpnomination could be an “albatross” to his Republican Party.

Wednesday, with Trump barreling toward the GOP nomination, Cornyn was singing a different tune.

“I think he could change the electoral map in ways we haven’t seen before,” Cornyn said when asked if he was worried about the Trump impact down-ticket. “This disrupts the usual Republican vs. Democrat, conservative vs. liberal paradigm, and I think we don’t know how this will all play out. I think it will be OK.”

“You don’t need to despair,” the Texas Republican added with a laugh.

After Trump delivered a foreign policy speech in Washington on Wednesday, some top Republicans were highly laudatory of the billionaire’s positions, including Tennessee Sen. Bob Corker, who called the speech “very thoughtful.”

Corker, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and a close ally of Senate Majority Mitch McConnell, said with a chuckle that the fact that Trump scares some world leaders could be a good thing for the United States.

“I did say to my staff that is somewhat of a welcome change,” Corker said. “There is some good that comes with that.”

These cheese eating surrender monkeys are about to learn that Trump supporters are not the only people on earth who can be angry. The 60% of the GOP that has steadfastly opposed Trump as a fake and a charlatan from day one is sick to death of watching the cowards in this party stand on the sidelines while the rigged delegate rules send Trump towards the 50% threshold in spite of the fact that he is getting less than 40% of the vote.

If Trump does become the nominee, we are going to remember cowards like Bob Corker and John Cornyn who stood silently by on the sideline because Ted Cruz had the temerity to (truthfully) call Mitch McConnell a liar, while Donald Trump continued to slime his way toward the nomination, aided by the clueless bungling of the delusional and idiotic John Kasich.

Long before this point, they should have all joined the fight for Ted Cruz or at the very least had an intervention with John Kasich, if they believed in even a shred of the conservatism they all profess to the voters back home. The fact that they have failed to do so confirms that they are the worthless collaborators with liberalism that we always thought they were.

I will say this: next time Corker is on the ballot, I’ll vote against him in the primary – and the general, if necessary.
