I took a look at his blog to see how “free” his site is in allowing comments. Not surprising he includes “We do reserve the right to reject submissions” in his own posting rules. Bit inconsistent there isn’t he?

This Burket guy is a provacatuer and nothing else. I’ve never had a single problem finding differing views here.
I once had a disagreement with Neil himself that got a little nasty and I wasn’t booted.
A little looking around here on the site would have let him know what was beyond the pale and he would have known exactly what to do to provoke such a response.
This e-mail reenforces my opinion that this site is run by the kind of folks with whom I’m glad to associate myself.

Really, I think the guy would have better time trying to plead his case to me(Big softy that I am at time) then to send a email to here after banning.

Or whatever. The bill of rights is all about government censorship.

I suppose Mr. Burket has no problem if people do the following:

1.) Hold an assembly on his front lawn
2.) Bring properly permitted guns into his home
3.) Stand on his stoop and pray for him to be free from ignorance

And if he does have a problem, because it’s his home and he can bar people from exercising their rights on his property, then he’s a hypocite. If he doesn’t, then at least he’s consistently foolish.

not the one referenced in your screed. Once upon a time these would have been fighting words, and local ordinances not withstanding, you and your second would have met Neil and his second at a predetermined time and location. In our current state, fighting words simply get your account disabled on a website. If you are capable of accepting this fact, and then recalibrating your response, you might consider composing another letter addressed to our webmaster and see if it fairs any better.

You see, I went over to his little site to see what he was saying. He posted a screed about RedState not respecting his 1st Amendment rights.

I asked Rod, “Why do you hate property rights?”.

A few moments later I went to see if I had rcvd a reply and found that all of the comments had been deleted.

So then I attempted to comment again only to realize that Rod Burket had blocked me. Odd.

then he wrote this little gem.

They are not conservatives or Republicans, but cheap ideological whores for the rest of the corrupt Republicans who are in control of the Republican Party.

Funny, he calls us ideological whores for blamming him, what should we call him for doing the very same thing on his own site?

Talk about overkill! Isn’t someone going a bit overboard and somewhat overly impressed with his importance in the overall scheme of things? Maybe I am missing something, but, ignoring the specific proposals and threats of silly retribution in the letter, I can’t even imagine a Marxist Demrat ACLU lawyer or Al Sharpton construing the Burket letter to be hateful. Isn’t sombody getting a bit thin-skinned and trigger-happy lately , ex-communicating anyone who may disagree about something, maybe even, displaying political naivety or saying something stupid? It is not like Burket and his followers, if he has any, is spamming Red State with his stuff. Somebody at Red State reminds me of the immaculated one, Commander Zero, telling all who disagree with him to shut up because he is President.

In addition to his complete misrepresentation of the 1st Amendment, ol’ Rod seems to be trying to get some form of sympathy because Neil was cranky and cross with him.

As others have clearly and accurately stated, one does not invite one’s self into someone else’s house and immediately start criticizing the decor, rearranging the furniture, and urinating on the carpet. Such things, in most societies, are considered a bit rude, and grounds for ejection with extreme prejudice.

I must be quite a bit older then most of you, this letter is not a big deal at all. I think sometimes here at Red State you forget we are all on the same side.. Or so I thought we were.

He states in his complaint letter that he runs a site that goes around looking for other sites that put restrictions on free speech. Seems to me like he got on here, made up a bunch of crap about being a conservative and then baited everyone to see if he could get a rise. Pretty sneaky and dirty. Did he honestly think that none of us would see throught the smoke and mirrors at what his real agenda was? What “conservative” in their right mind would go on a REPUBLICAN site and then argue about how bad the Pubs are? Really? I knew he was off his rocker when he tried to explain that lame comment about W getting thrown out of office!! HAHAHAHA! Is that what we are calling the end of the second term- being thrown out? Hang on mister “newfreedom” – we are on a mission to “throw” out your Libtard buddies! Hey I have an idea! Open thread so , anything goes right? Harold Ford is not doing the NY senate race against Gillibrand (politico). Not sure why he got in to begin with. He was from Tn, but couldn’t make it as a TN Dem.. Most of ours our blue dogs. he went to NY but couldn’t cut it as as one of their Democrats. Not sure where he will turn up next. Watch out he could be coming to a state near you. I’m thinking we ship him to California.
