Those Bitter Gun-Clingers.

Remember when Obama made that speech about all those marginalized people who distrusted all the good things government could do for them and therefore headed out to the remote wilderness away from civilization where they could bitterly cling to their guns and religion? Unbeknownst to Obama, he was describing the majority of Americans. Note especially how even independents break on this question:

Washington (CNN) – A majority of Americans think the federal government poses a threat to rights of Americans, according to a new national poll.

Fifty-six percent of people questioned in a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Friday say they think the federal government’s become so large and powerful that it poses an immediate threat to the rights and freedoms of ordinary citizens. Forty-four percent of those polled disagree.

The survey indicates a partisan divide on the question: only 37 percent of Democrats, 63 percent of Independents and nearly 7 in 10 Republicans say the federal government poses a threat to the rights of Americans.

Now, to be fair to Obama, it’s entirely possible that there weren’t nearly this many people who felt that government was a threat to their freedoms back when he made that speech.  But they sure do now. And given that pretty much everything Obama wants to do legislatively will result in expanding the reach of government, Congressional Democrats would do well to note the extent to which the people now agree with Ronald Reagan about the danger of the words, “I’m from the Government, and I’m here to help.”

That's an awesome number.

Tells you that the Founding Fathers are coming back into vogue. We already knew that, but it’s crystallizing.

Run the RINO’s off the ballot and go in with hard-core constitutional conservatives willing to govern that way, and the mood is in place to destroy the entire Progressive project.

It now reads “I’m from the govenment, and I’m here to help. You have no say in the matter.”

It reads “We’ve come from the government for you. You can help by dying”.

True peace between two enemies has only ever been acheived when one side has utterly defeated the other…if you doubt this truth visit Nagasaki sometime.

Let's see, where have I heard this before?

Oh yeah!

When all else fails…….. Shoot!

“Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it.” –American author Mark Twain (1835-1910)

“We should never despair, our Situation before has been unpromising and has changed for the better, so I trust, it will again. If new difficulties arise, we must only put forth new Exertions and proportion our Efforts to the exigency of the times.” –George Washington, letter to Philip Schuyler, 1777

Mark Twain and George washington two of those pesky liberals, like myself, that Republican talking heads are always beating-up on. Just could not help myself…I know bringing up history is painful to most Democrats and Republicans.. But, the two quotes are outstanding, especailly Twain.
Another from the General “” As mankind becomes more liberal, they will be more apt to allow, that all those who conduct themselves as worthy members of the community are equally entitled to the protection of civil government. I hope ever to see America among the foremost nations in examples of justice and liberality”
George Washington – 1790

Bringing the Nation Together

It appears Obama will be achieving what he promised, only in an opposite way. He wanted us to get beyond the Red and Blue and into the White. It is becoming apparent that we are going beyond those divisions, in opposition to he and his coterie. More and more Americans are beginning to see his presidency as an abject failure and a lesson in political gamesmanship. We are learning his agenda and allies are absolute authoritarians. Agreement amond Republicans, independents, and even some Democrats is coalescing. Despite the Hoax and Derange, or rather, because of it, Obama’s bringing us together . . . to oppose socialism.

I'm one of those gun clinglers.

I challenge Obama to say why I should not keep guns in my closet.

Some of us were just ahead of the curve.

I’m glad the other thirty percent caught up with us.

I know some guys on the job who have slipped over to our side. The whole “hope and change” deal sits sour on their tongues now.

Seems pretty non-partisan to me.

The last paragraph here points out a ‘partisan divide’, but it’s just the registered Democrats on the outside looking in.

Democrats out of touch with mainstream America…that’s not partisan, it’s just their foolishness in trusting government over the liberty of the American people.

“If Congress can do whatever in their discretion can be done by money, and will promote the General Welfare, the Government is no longer a limited one, possessing enumerated powers, but an indefinite one, subject to particular exceptions.” — James Madison

“Electing Republicans who don’t have the courage of their convictions may be easier in some circumstances, but it won’t save our country.” — Jim DeMint
