...these guys might have to extend their Tues through Thurs work "week," are you? (They came up with the minimum wage, I suspect, by determining what they themselves are worth. Min wage might be a bit high for 90% of our pols.)

The horror...the horror...

The problem is that politics has totally gone the way of money. The best candidate in the world can't get elected if he or she doesn't have a *lot* of money backing him or her. Most sheeple know only what they hear on the TV ads and, to a lesser extent, radio ads or newspaper coverage. Money totally drives what goes on TV and the radio, and newspapers are more likely liberal leaning (although not as much as TV networks, although we all know how hugely leftist the NYT and their ilk are).

The George Soroses of the world throw huge sums of money, both directly and indirectly through foundations and other organizations, to get their policies in place.

If we could somehow eliminate money from the picture, things would change. Of course that's not even remotely possible.

The reason "the Republican Party" has no soul, or at least does not stick to the conservative virtues and principles set forth in its platform, is because there aren't enough conservatives in its registered ranks who have taken the next step and spent a few hours becoming voting members of it -- precinct committeeman (might be called something else where you live; every state has its own rules and procedures).

Precinct committeemen, and only precinct committeemen, get to vote for the Party leadership. Get to vote in Party "elections" to endorse the "best" candidates in the Republican primaries. Did you have a say in whether we ended up with Michael Steele as our Chairman and "spokesmodel?" Only if you were a precinct committeeman and showed up for the Party leadership elections.

Want better, more conservative Party leaders? Better, more conservative candidates winning the primary contests? Then get more conservatives to become precinct committeemen. Become part of "the Republican Party" we all complain about. WE have to become THEM.

Conservatives COULD remake the Party, easily, if they'd just join the Party and vote in new leadership. Happened this year in Clark County, Nevada.

The Republican Party has no soul. It, like every other institution is interested only in self-preservation, self-perpetuation and power. The Dempublicans and the Republicrats have no interest in our freedoms and will both gladly sell out our sovereignty in return for their increased power.

With due deference to Thomas Jefferson, whom marcus quotes above, I believe his statement that "“Both of our political parties, at least the honest portion of them, agree conscientiously in the same object—the public good" is no longer correct (or, if it is, that "the honest portion of them" has become so minimal as to be irrelevant). What both parties today agree on is the concentration of wealth and power in the hands of politicians. I fear that the solution to this problem, especially after our sovereignty is signed away in Copenhagen, must lie beyond any political remedy.

We're too stupid to know what's good for us, so they're going to tell us who should represent us. I mean, they've done such a good job the past two election cycles, why shouldn't we trust them now?

...the rank and file Republican voters determined which of the Primary candidates THEY (we) wanted as their (our) General Election candidate? Why is the Party (RNC, RNSC and/or RNCC) endorsing, supporting or funding anyone before Republican voters make a choice?

Both Moms and Dads are very very hard to lose. They are the rudders of many of us. When we lose them, you get a big empty place in your heart and life. It does get easier in time, you grasp even more what they stood for in your life, and, you seem to remember even more of what they did for you. I pray for you that your peace will come soon over your loss. I promise, they don't go away in spirit, and, you will still be talking to your dad more than you know. I am so sorry for your loss Aaron.

we unfortunately have those that have been Republicans all their lives, and, they will only pull the lever with anyone that has an R after their names. I suspect that it has actually gotten worse with this affliction, because some believe that any R is better than any D. It keeps the party just going round and round and round. The hierachary apparently is counting on those very dummies.

The people who are still funding the NRSC and NRCC (and according to Moe's research there are still some) either don't know what these groups are doing, or more likely want them doing exactly what they're doing. We've seen this even with some folks here at RS (even in this very blog).

This is a fight for the very soul of the Republican Party. It's going to be interesting to see if conservatives can take back their Party, or if the Washington insiders that have run the GOP for the past few years will remain.

when we the conservative hijack the place and write some rules, some want to leave because of the no more full time politicians. I can see Barney Frank and many more leaving if that happened.

It is hard to put into words exactly, but the rino pukes have a mindset very similar to the liberals. They think they are the enlightened ones and the hard corp conservatives out there in the hinterlands are just embarrassing knuckle draggers. After all they can have a few martinis with their liberal colleagues in DC and have a jolly laugh at that retard Palin.
