This happens within three days after fertilization. Prior to this the fertilized egg can split and become twins. In the lab it can be split almost indefinitely yielding tons of twins. So before this there is the philosophical argument over whether a zygote is one person or thirty. Past this point cells differentiate and the fetus is, at the very least on its way to becoming an individual. Sure, we can’t point to a particular time and say “this is for sure a person”, but unless we can say “this is for sure NOT a person” we shouldn’t give people the right to kill it. Remember the first and most important part of the Hippocratic Oath, “Do no harm”, unless we are 100% sure it is not a person, then the argument over personhood doesn’t matter, we MUST NOT chance doing harm. Thus I am against any form of birth control or abortion method that happens after implantation (about day 5). Past this point I think there is reasonable argument to think that the embryo could potentially be a viable individual, and thus deserving of protection.

That is the fundamental question not answered here, or anywhere really. That wasn’t the question posed in Roe and it won’t be answered in the upcoming health care debate.

Personally, I do not agree that human life begins at conception, though I admit the possibility that it does begin sometime prior to birth. I assume that most of this site’s readership would disagree with my position, so I’d like to know what your views are.

When do you think a human life begins and what is your definition or justification for such?

This was a great read and very revealing for the pro-life community. It gives cause for great thought and soul searching. This certainly is an instance where we should ask, WWJD?

First of all, liberals only have half a brain and it’s the stupid half, so you have to get on their level to better understand their way of thinking. They don’t see a “fetus” as alive and independent of the mother (even though it has a heartbeat, it’s own brain, blood supply, heart, etc).

Also, they use the term “abortion” to make themselves feel better, because “murder” is such a harsh term, you know. Barbara Walters said she wouldn’t call George Tiller a “murderer”, she’d call him an “abortionist”. That makes all the difference, Barb!!! Thanks for that clarification! He seems much more humane now.

By the way, they’re also against “harsh interrogation techniques” for people who want to kill all Americans. Maybe we should’ve just opened marshmallows and weenies for them and sat around a campfire singing in sweet harmony together. I’m sure they would’ve responded better to that.

Many have likened what happened in Kansas to Tiller to John Brown’s “bloody Kansas”–If this is the case, then perhaps we are in for civil war 2–if so that is fine by me, once abortion is funded by government my only other options will be to expatriate or go to jail for not paying taxes.

In essence, you’re asking serious Christians to consider the following:

If Nationalized Healthcare is implemented, and it determines that abortions are covered out-patient procedures, what, as Christians, should our response be?

As serious christians, we cannot support abortion. Not in the specific, not in the general. Jesus tells us we are to obey our masters, but it is also clear that God’s law is supreme above man’s law.

It looks to me, after a few moments thought, like the most appropriate course of action is to not pay taxes.

We are the other. Obama intends to back us into a corner that would cause us to retaliate, thus giving him authority to take action against the “other”.
