Remember When Andrew Sullivan Used to be a Credible Blogger?

Notice that I did not say "principled," "intelligent," or "insightful."

I’m sure that newcomers to the blogosphere often wonder why anyone ever reads Andrew Sullivan. Since Obama came along, after all, Sullivan has been nothing but nothing more than just another no-talent Obama sycophant who is inordinately obsessed with convincing himself that the Catholic Church does not really mean what it teaches on homosexuality. In other words, no one that anyone would want to read. But I, like many of the “older” readers of the blogosphere, can remember when reading Sullivan was useful, if not exactly either entertaining or insightful. Sullivan was indicative, you see, of what a certain class of relatively well-informed but overall wishy-washy voter was thinking at a certain point in time. In other words, a useful weathervane. And he was such an individual primarily because he truly fancied himself a man of principle in the way that many Americans do: not often internally consistent, but adhering to a set of identifiable, if vaguely fuzzy ideals.

Now, Sullivan is in the tank for Obama. Hard. His infatuation with Obama has reached such levels that it’s impossible to tell what Sullivan believes in, except that Barack Obama is the greatest human being to ever walk the face of the earth. In other words, he’s not useful for much anymore. But I still usually read him anyway; habit can be a difficult thing to overcome. Now, however, it appears that McCain’s choice of Sarah Palin as VP has exposed that Andrew Sullivan has turned himself into human scum in the service of Barack Obama, still, even as of this moment, demanding that Sarah Palin produce her obstetrician to provide a blow-by-blow account of Trig Palin’s birth.

Let’s review the facts of one of the scummiest and stupidest conspiracy theories that the online left has ever peddled (and that is really saying something). . .

Like most leftist conspiracy theories, the Trig-as-Bristol’s-secret-child-theory is both based upon “facts” that are lies, and conclusions that would not necessarily be true even if the “facts” weren’t lies. The three “facts” upon which the Trig conspiracy theory are based are these: 1. Sarah Palin didn’t look pregnant; 2. Bristol Palin did look pregnant; and 3. since Sarah Palin told certain individuals backstage at a speech in Texas that her amniotic fluid started leaking, there is no way that she flew back to Alaska and then drove from Anchorage to Wasilla to have the baby.

Now, points one and two are just teh awesome in this context. I mean, we’re talking about a girl who is 17 years old, what on earth could possibly be wrong with suggesting that she looks pregnant based upon looking at pictures of her? There’s no way you could possibly do damage to someone’s self esteem by calling the attention of millions of people to a little pouch on her belly, right? This is totally fair game, isn’t it? I mean, just look at the freaking evidence, it’s so obvious anyway!!!:

Whoa! This chick is obviously pregnant! There is no way that that is the ordinary abdomen of a 17-year-old girl! I mean, look, we found other evidence, look how obviously pregnant she is!!!:

Pregnant! QED! This proves that it was not just a trick of the camera angle?

Wait a minute, what’s that you say? That second picture is from 2006? Holy smokes, this chick is pregnant all the time!! It’s no wonder she could have a baby on April 18, 2008 and currently be five months pregnant! She’s permanently pregnant! The pictures prove it!

Meanwhile, this picture right here? It’s so obviously not Sarah Palin being pregnant earlier this year!

You stay classy, Andrew Sullivan. And “reality-based.” I’m glad you’re obsessed enough with whatever it is you think Barack Obama is going to give you that you and the rest of the netroots are willing to go there. Women of America, take note: if you look anything like Bristol Palin, the average Obama supporter suspects that you’re probably pregnant. Otherwise, why would you look like that?

Now as for the rest of this theory: what about Sarah Palin’s decision to fly back to Texas after she began leaking amniotic fluid? Well, it’s not what I would have done, but then again, I haven’t had five kids. So in other words, I’m sort of lacking in the relevant life experience that would have enabled me to make that call. If Sarah Palin felt that she could make it back to Alaska, given that this was her fifth child, then that is her judgment call to make. Say, Andrew, had a lot of experience giving birth so that you can cast aspersions on Sarah Palin’s judgment?

Now here’s the thing that makes me 100% confident that this conspiracy theory is just as dumb and unfounded as the others. If, hypothetically, Palin was merely wearing a fat suit and received a cell phone call from Bristol that she was going into labor, there’s no way she would have told anyone that her water broke. Only an idiot of the highest order would have done that if they were involved in a cover-up, knowing the kind of scrutiny it would have involved. When you are pregnant, you do not need to tell people that your water has broken for people to excuse you from a venue quickly. I mean, for goodness’ sake, you can just mention “contractions” and it’s a lot cleaner. Forget contractions, just mention the restroom: anyone who’s been around a pregnant woman will get the hell out of your way. And if you really got some kind of call that your daughter you’ve been covering up for is going into labor, would you seriously take the risk of finishing the speech you’re scheduled to give and have your whole story blown? Hello? Sarah Palin may be many things, depending on who you talk to; the one thing she clearly is not (based upon the fact that she can string remarkably coherent sentences together without a teleprompter) is a first-class moron. And if this was truly a conspiracy, only a first-class moron would have executed it this badly.

Now, Andrew Sullivan sees fit to demand that Palin produce her doctor to testify as to treatment given to her (hey Andrew, you willing to do the same?), supposing somehow that the Alaska media hasn’t already dug into this can of worms. Byron York informs us of the obvious truth that this isn’t so:

Here in St. Paul, I was on NPR this evening with a man named Michael Carey, who is a columnist and former editorial page editor for the Anchorage Daily News. We started talking, of course, about the day’s Palin news — the fake baby story and the real baby story. As far as the fake baby story was concerned, Carey told me that the rumors were going around in Alaska a few months ago, not long after the birth of Sarah Palin’s fifth child. He told me that Daily News reporters and editors explored the story quite extensively, and, as Carey said on NPR, “could find no basis for it except that people who didn’t like Sarah Palin believed it.” He told me that Daily News reporters talked at length to the Palins about it — Carey said the Palins were actually eager to talk about the rumor because they knew how much it had spread around Alaska. He also said Daily News reporters looked into the medical angle of the rumor, which included talking to at least one doctor involved, and again found nothing to support the story. In the end, Carey told me, the newspaper became “convinced that it was not true.”

What is amazing about all this is how making just one phone call to a man like Carey could have given some of the bloggers at The Atlantic and DailyKos pause before they wrote so extensively about it. Why didn’t they do that?

And now we have word, forced into the national media thanks to jackals like Andrew Sullivan, that Bristol Palin is five months pregnant. It’s been four and a half months since Trig Palin was born. This is enough to silence all reasonable people on this question; Andrew Sullivan still thinks this won’t be put to rest until we hear it from the doctor’s mouth.

Folks, I don’t know if the Obama campaign is behind this story. Obama says that he won’t associate with people like Andrew Sullivan, and that he’d fire anyone caught peddling this story. For Sullivan’s part, this is irrelevant; Sullivan never cared what the Catholic Church said about being a good Catholic; now that he’s traded in Catholicism for Obama worship, I have no idea why anyone would expect his basic attitude toward authority in religion to change. Many of Obama’s supporters feel the same way. So regardless of whether the Obama campaign is pushing this through back channels or not, Obama’s supporters – the movement people who are propping up his campaign – are certainly willing to believe it, and to drag teenage Bristol Palin’s name through the mud and into the public limelight because she had a tiny pooch on her belly.

You know, I used to think that the Hillaristas’ claims of sexism from the Obama campaign were overblown. Geraghty thinksit’s kind of hard to miss it once you start looking. I’m coming around to Geraghty’s point of view.

UPDATE: I forgot the fourth idiotic point which supposedly proves that Bristol Palin is really Trig Palin’s mother: supposedly, the Palin family holed Bristol Palin away from everyone for 8 months claiming she had “mono” so as to hide the fact that she was pregnant. I really didn’t deal with this because it’s more or less directly contradicted by the fact that they… dragged her out in public to take the top photograph above, which conclusively proves that she’s pregnant. This is, um, not exactly the sort of thing you do when you’re allegedly holing someone away.

Let’s be honest. That’s what happened. McCain picking a young (by presidential standards), working mother who’s a popular governor and telegenic as his running mate was the last thing that John McCain was supposed to do! He was supposed to pick some middle aged white guy who the Obama campaign was set up to attack (ie Romney). Palin threw them for a loop and absolutely killed the positive afterglow of Apollo’s speech last Thursday night. Naturally they can’t find much to throw at her, so they have to scrape the bottom of the barrel.

Make no mistake, this sleazefest is about one thing and one thing only: running down Governor Palin before she has a chance to wow the country on Wednesday night. After that, all bets are off on this election.

We must admit…John McCain is one mischievious, ballsy, and shrewd fellow.

The whole thing is just

I am amazed at the extent the same Obamaniacs who attacked Stanley Kurtz as being slimy for requesting the Annenburg documents are now gleefully smearing a 17 year old’s personal life across the headlines.

Sickening.

This ridiculous Bristol Palin “story” that is “shocking” conservative and religious Republicans is a figment of the leftwing media’s imagination. It should be obvious to anyone with half a brain that liberals in this country are clueless when it comes to understanding conservative and Christian values.

It makes me laugh out loud when reporters act surprised when Christian conservative leaders don’t start throwing rocks at Sarah Palin and Bristol: “WHAT! HOLY-MOLEY BATMAN! They’re not throwing Sarah and Bristol under the bus!!!!

Bristol has SINNED and thus they should abandon her! That’s what Christians and Republicans do, right???”

Ah, no, that’s not what Christians and Republicans do. And at least half of America understands and agrees with Sarah Palin that the right thing to do is being done.

Democrats, liberals and the press are clueless. Take a look at liberal blogs–they are going bonkers over this. They can’t understand why anyone would tolerate a 17 year old girl getting pregnant and then not have an abortion. I mean, that would fix everything, right?

To show how obsurd this entire attack on an innocent 17 year girl is consider this: Liberals and Democrats didn’t find a single thing morally upsetting when PRESIDENT Clinton got a blow job from an intern in the Oval Office.

Think about that for a minute.

The left said with one voice, “It’s only sex and it’s none of your business. As long as he does his job, what does it matter who President Clinton cheats on his wife with.”

The left and the national press didn’t find anything wrong when Bill said, “I want you to listen carefully, I did not have sexual relations with that woman…”

So of course it’s okay to spread vicious rumors about Sarah Palin and attack her 17 year old daughter’s character, integrity and honesty.

This dirty smear campaign will only galvanize the Republican base. I donated money for the first time in my life to a political campaign after this attack on Sarah Palin surfaced. I will now buy a bunch of campaign merchandise to further support the McCain/Palin ticket.

These Democrats are a danger to our nation. They will stop at nothing to win. Attacking a 17 year girl proves that they have no scruples.

Though it saddens me

I don’t think Palin is going to last.

I said earlier that they were forcing her out into the spotlight to quickly, and I still think that.

Someone like Biden has a lot of baggage, but it’s familiar to everyone already. Palin got thrust onto the national scene so quickly that people will get hit with anything negative about her all at once. Thus we have thirty year old dui’s from her husband hitting the news (yet, the media still doesn’t care that Obama lied about his relationship with Ayers).

Palin Scares Them

MikeknaJ Tuesday, September 2nd at 12:17AM EST (link)

I completely agree with the first response. The Dems expected another “old white guy” kind of pick and were completely unprepared for Palin’s selection. They don’t know how to effectively respond, they’re all off message, and right now everyone’s just throwing out their natural reactions – and those reactions are revealing in how hypocritical and dirty they are.

Palin will survive this storm of crap, because she’s authentic and principled. If the worst they can come up with on her is a Truther-pregnancy-coverup, a mistake her daughter has made, and her lack of experience (nevermind Obama’s), she’s golden.

You’re throwing in the towel already? Sarah Palin isn’t some fragile piece of porcelin that is going to shatter.

America is a great nation because we’re not quitters and we’ll fight for our beliefs! Sarah Palin is one tough woman and has the track record to prove it.

Did John McCain give up when the going got tough in the Hanoi Hilton? The absolute LEAST that McCain should expect from his supporters is that we won’t start talking about abandoning our posts when the enemy starts lobbing in a few wet sponge rounds.

Geez, get a grip and show some backbone!

Sarah Palin will shred this mickey mouse crap and the American people will back her 100%. I’m more than confident that Sarah Palin AND John McCain can hold their own against this “so-called” attack.

If she can withstand this

and we can get it all out and old news within the next week or so, it will be better for everyone. Better for her because she can focus on the issues, and better for Republicans because there will be no October surprise out of it.

to make it. You can be angry if you like, but that’s what I think.

I think she has many fine qualities, but at a time when McCain was tied with Obama, I view her nomination as reckless.

I agree with most of her views, but I think she is a larger liability than an asset.

If she survives the media feeding frenzy this week, I’ll be more hopeful.

Until then, I’d advise you to be more realistic and less of a homer.

lonebeagle Tuesday, September 2nd at 12:42AM EST (link)

You obviously don’t understand John McCain. He’ll never allow Sarah Palin to be taken off the ticket now that he has brought her on. To do so would be an act of cowardice and supreme disloyalty for McCain.

Combat soldiers/sailors/marines like McCain don’t abandon their men (or women) in combat–they’d rather die than lose their honor.

And McCain isn’t about to lose his honor now. Don’t you understand that this is all about honor for McCain?

I know it is because my father was a wounded and decorated infantryman in World War II and John McCain is just like my dad.

If McCain drops Sarah Palin because it is expedient, then all of that suffering and misery and courage he spent in Hanoi will instantly vanish. It’s not about life and death now–this is just a political campaign, but McCain’s entire life and legacy are on the line now.

For him to abandon his running mate now would just be unconscionable.

But not everybody is John McCain.

Palin scares the media and Democrats. It is why they believe she must be destroyed politicaly at all cost – even if that includes zeroing in on her kids.

The thing is, it maybe back fire.

This story and many others generated over at Kos was solely designed to try and make Christian conservatives (many who were sitting on the side lines until now) sit back down and become unenthused.

The problem is they dont understand Christians, and or Christianity.

I believe there is a good chance this could back fire on them. At least I hope it does.

I agree that we will need to see how Sarah handles the media pressure – but if its anything from what I’ve seen in her interviews with Kudlow and other talking heads before being nominated – she will be fine.

… the only thing you left out of significance is that the entire conspiracy concoction was too ludicrous to be taken seriously by any reasonable grown-up with a minimum of experience in the real world. This complete lack of engagement with reality typifies many of the subordinate points so ably critiqued in the main post, but stand before and above it all.

Demonstrating a somewhat similar lack of engagement with reality is the notion that John McCain would have any interest in dropping Palin at this point. It’s the furthest thing from his mind. I’d state that he might as well just forfeit the election or suspend his entire campaign, but even to suggest such a rationale is to lend too much credence to the idea. There is no authentic basis for such a decision, just a lot of thoroughly disposable media chatter and even less credible internet chatter.

In short, stupid, immature, and lurid insanity of this sort will be ignored by the vast majority of voters, and laughed at by the relatively few who even become aware of it.

My dad...

lonebeagle Tuesday, September 2nd at 2:16AM EST (link)

was just a sergeant in the infantry who fought in Italy and France in 1944 during the war. He lost most of his close friends and came home disabled with two Purple Hearts.

Virtually every soldier in his company was a battle casualty or sustained a non-battle casualty. But that was common in all frontline infantry outfits in World War II.

The point to remember is that people from that generation regarded service to your country as being the norm and you were expected to act honorably. My dad and his men who came home just did what was expected of them–they weren’t being “heroes”, they were carrying on just like Americans have always done from the days of the Continental Army and George Washington.

John McCain came from a military family and he shares these same values. Today when only a tiny proportion of citizens serve in the military and there have been no wars or real threats (until 9/11) for decades, most people have no knowledge or understanding of what men like my dad and John McCain are made of or what they believe in.

In World War II the U.S. Army suffered 81,000 battle casualties (killed and wounded in action) in December 1944. The U.S. Army sustained 201,367 men killed in action during the War which equated to an average of 4,576 men killed per month. (BTW this data is from George Marshall’s Biennial Reports on the War). This is more total deaths and average deaths per month than even the Civil War.

Think about that–what would people do today if we suffered 81,000 casualties in one month?

The world today is a product of the American victory in World War II. Many on the left and liberals give all the credit to the Soviets, but that is just garbage–without the effort of America, the War would have ended much differently and the world today would look much different.

You can’t understand John McCain and sacrifice if you don’t understand how professional combat military men think. And you can’t understand how these men think if you don’t understand our past wars, especially World War II.

When McCain talks about “service” and “honor”, he means it. McCain and all of the soldiers that fought in all of America’s wars had buddies get killed because they held their ground or went to the aid of friend.

“Life isn’t worth living if you’re not free” is what my dad used to say. John McCain put honor and duty ahead of his own life many times. He isn’t going to f#ck up now and be a coward just because his running mate’s 17 year old daughter got pregnant.

This should be so obvious that it shouldn’t have to be said.

I agree

One of my treasured possessions is a photocopy of a short letter from my 27-year-old Dad, “Somewhere in France, Oct. 9, 1944″, to his older brother, still in North Africa; he was a Radar Crewman T/4 with a AAA battery en route to Operation Antwerp X, and was now able to write for the first time about entering France 10 days after D-Day.

He expressed, in his matter-of-fact, New England farmboy, high-school English and large, looping script, the same honor your father defended this way:

At times we were pretty close behind the actual fighting as the smashed vehicles and dead animals still littered the roads and fields. Some of the towns were still smoldering and many the civilians had not returned to. We got on the wrong road near St. Malo and were turned around by MPs as it was still in enemy hands. We got our biggest reception at Dinan as the Free French were still combing the town for Jerries and we were the first convoy to go through after the tanks and infantry. The people crowded the streets on both sides shouting, waving flags and throwing flowers at us. The wine and cognac flowed pretty freely too. It is something I will never forget but we were really taking the bows that belonged to the boys up ahead.

DUI or a pregnant daughter matter in the least? Do you really think the electorate is going to care about things like that in this day in age? After Bill Clinton?

Come on, get real. McCain may lose, but it won’t be because of Palin. She is a positive for him.

Lose their power of critical thinking.
They have to blindly follow the prettiest words they hear. They are unable to distinguish between word and deed. The memory that they should be able to tell the difference, and that the difference is important, is an irritant that makes them defensive of the source of the flowery words they hunger for.

A Prediction...

ConservaGeek (Diary) Tuesday, September 2nd at 7:43AM EST (link)

Sarah Palin will soon release her medical records–including those of the birth of Trig–to the public.

Andrew Sullivan will soon thereafter take an honored place next to Rosie “Fire won’t melt steel” O’Donnell in the Moonbat Hall Of Fame.

Richard Carlson as Geoff Montgomery: It’s worse than horrible because a zombie has no will of his own. You see them sometimes walking around blindly with dead eyes, following orders, not knowing what they do, not caring.

**Bob Hope as Larry Lawrence: You mean like Democrats?**

Sullivan already has an entire wing of that hall

Unfortunately not.

As noted by Byron York above, the rumors on this have been going around for months in Alaska. Like a contagious disease, the Left’s rumors are often difficult to stamp out once and for all, and I applaud Leon’s efforts to stop the spread of this one.

“‘You come of the Lord Adam and the Lady Eve,’ said Aslan. ‘And that is both honour enough to erect the head of the poorest beggar, and shame enough to bow the shoulders of the greatest emperor on earth. Be content.’” — C.S. Lewis’ “Prince Caspian”

This has nothing to do with Palin's experience.

Elizabeth (Diary) Tuesday, September 2nd at 8:21AM EST (link)

Sarah Palin could have been governor of Alaska for twenty years, and the Left would still be attacking her as viciously as they are now. Remember Clarence Thomas? Condoleeza Rice? The Left absolutely cannot tolerate anyone from any of their “identity” groups who wanders off the reservation. If you’re black or female (or God forbid both) and conservative, in their eyes you’re obviously an incapable moron who was selected only because of the color of your skin or the presence of your ovaries.

After this, anyone who still believes that the Left is more tolerant of “minorities” than those of us on the right needs to have their head examined.

EXAMINING: Track Palin’s perfectly placed spikey hair.

CONCLUSION: Track has TEH GAY! EEEw scandal!

before Iowa, then Obama wouldn’t be the nominee, Hillary would have in all likelihood. And yet it took the National Enquirer to shame them into following that story.

For all their smarmy moralizing about the Palins, how many of them have castigated Rielle Hunter for not listing a father on the baby’s birth certificate? How many of them have gone after Edwards for not owning his own child?

What utter useless hypocrits they are.

Disgusting!

donpaulie Tuesday, September 2nd at 8:37AM EST (link)

I think Sullivan’s comments are disgusting! Andrew would stoop to anything to discredit someone who they fear! It is equally as deploreable to get to Palin through Bristol. Keep drinking the kool-aid Andrew and leave Bristol and Trigg alone!

Nat. Enq. forced them....

kowalski (Diary) Tuesday, September 2nd at 9:01AM EST (link)

It took a couple of clever people from the National Enquirer to do the mainstream press’ job for them. But hey, no good deed shall go unpunished. They would have waited until Kingdom Come to talk about John Edwards and his dalliances if it hadn’t been for the Enquirer, and all of the people at the Enquirer know they’ve got big targets on their backs now.

Now they’re doing what liberals normally do, just like clockwork: if someone rubs their noses in something they’d rather not have seen aired publicly, they respond not with contrition, not with congratulation, not with reflection, and certainly not with candor, but with vengeance and anger and lies. That’ll show ‘em.

Politics in this country is not about justice: it’s pure game theory, with a skewed playing field: it’s tit-for-tat with a built-in liberal/leftist tilt. It was designed that way and it is enforced that way, quite deliberately.

That’s why Republicans and Conservatives will always have to groom their people to be able to fight uphill battles against long odds. We will always need to be the mountaineers fighting against the incline.

Andrew Sullivan started off as a kind of Conservative, but he decided to switch sides. He was and remains the New York Times’ favorite Conservative because of that.

I do know

And I will take that bet.

As much as I hated him during the G14 and Illegal Immigration fiascoes, I know that he’s not going to let anything as insignificant as a little bit of condemnation from his political opponents stop him from doing what he thinks is right.

McCain won’t stop Palin from leaving, but he won’t Ever ask her to leave.
If Palin can take it, if her family can take it, she’ll still be his teammate in January.

What Palin should say:

drjecdo Tuesday, September 2nd at 9:08AM EST (link)

“There’s a entire state up north littered with Republicans that tried to smear me who were a lot smarter than the leftist blogosphere. Don’t think for a minute that I won’t do the same to Democrats. You don’t want to “drop the gloves” with me.”

Ah, but we tend to do it anyway

janis (Diary) Tuesday, September 2nd at 9:17AM EST (link)

as often as we do–we have to be tougher, more honest, more authentic right from the beginning in order to compete with media-protected libs.

It’s one of the reasons that the Palin family has so strongly resonated with so many of us–they are authentic, not some whitewashed version that is being packaged and sold as something other than what they are. Authenticity is something that the left and/or media cannot fathom nor abide.

They absolutely hate it when people say what they mean and mean what they say.

No, she shouldn't release her medical records, Andrew.

Moriah (Diary) Tuesday, September 2nd at 10:19AM EST (link)

First, it would be admitting that the VC Andrews-esque theory is something more than ridiculous.

Second, since I’ve seen people saying that a woman who is pro-life and would keep her baby no matter what should not even bother with prenatal screenings and diagnosis, they would just try to go through and find some kind of “evidence” that Sarah actually considered terminating the pregnancy, or try to say that her flight from Texas to Alaska to give birth was irresponsible. Some have already said that it was a demonstration that she did not actually want Trig that she would have risked him by not staying in Texas to have him.

Third…. the health and state of a woman’s reproductive system has nothing to do with her ability to hold down a job, and so if she shouldn’t be asked to give her medical records on a job interview, she shouldn’t be asked to give her medical records when she’s campaigning for vice-president.

And here’s my refutation of anyone who thinks that a person who is pro-life either would not or should not consider prenatal diagnosis/screening:

When I first started my job here in Northwest Arkansas, one of my coworker’s wife was pregnant with their third child. They are very pro-life.

However, because they believe that the best thing they can do for their children while in utero is to ensure that they have the best medical care, they had screenings done. I believe it was the quad-screen that came back bad, but they did a thorough ultrasound to try to determine why the screening test looked off.

Their baby, who would have been their first son, had complete bilateral renal agenesis. Aka, no kidneys. There was no way that their son would be able to live for long once the cord was cut, because it was her body that was cleansing his of toxins. Since amniotic fluid is created partially by fetal urine, she had very low amniotic fluid and so their son would likely be smaller than usual (intrauterine growth retardation, which can be caused by many things but low amniotic fluid means the uterus doesn’t expand like it normally does, so the baby can’t grow as fast).

They never considered terminating the pregnancy, even though there was no hope for a happy outcome. Instead, they used the news to allow them to plan for their child’s life, as short as they knew it would be. They were able to prepare their two daughters for the fact their little brother wouldn’t be coming home from the hospital. They were able to get some of their grieving done before their child was born, so they could spend his very short life focused on him.

He came two months early. He lived 12 hours. He was rocked, held, cradled, and loved his entire life.

Now, I personally don’t know if I could have done what they chose to do. I’ve had two grandparents die of kidney failure and toxin overload is a very painful way to die. But they did not believe it was right to say that their son did not deserve those 12 hours, even if they were painful for him. They did what they thought was right, and it was their faith that got them through it.

They walked their talk, and I respect and admire that more than I can express in words.

Blessings,

Moriah

I don't think they change.. they learn to hide it a little better. ;)

I'm confused on Sullivan?

robertallen Tuesday, September 2nd at 11:14AM EST (link)

Why oh why would he “turn” like this? What could be the ISSUE that turned him from a “respective blogger” into an Obama cheerleader. I tell you, I haven’t been this confused or startled since David Brock stopped being a conservative!

Sarcasm aside, Sullivan was never a “respective blogger”, he is and has been a one-issue individual, pro-homosexual marriage and true conservatives were gullible enough to let him in the “fold” for the strange reason that it made “us” feel better that “look, we have a homosexual friend!”
