Wonder what their explanation will be at the entrance of Heaven when God asks why they ignored their beliefs?
I get that he’s the “President” and all and that most past presidential figures have spoken at the university, but give the man an honorary degree?? For condoning the killing of babies? From Catholics??

Not to mention the fact that many Catholic hospitals will likely lose their funding for refusing to preform abortions for any murderer who wants one under the new Obama plan. Or will they refuse? Interesting……….

At any rate, I think it’s despicable. Does ND really expect us to believe they’re going to bring up this so-called “dialogue” when Obama visits the school??? Sure, “While you’re here, Mr. President, lets talk about that abortion thing.” Yeah, right.

What do the students at Notre Dame think about the invite? I’ll bet that plenty of them want to see Obama.

I suspect that Lammo has hit the nail on the head, when he said: “Notre Dame has long given indications that it is no longer a Catholic university.”

Over fifty percent of Catholics voted for Obama in this last election, after some of the most explicit pro-life lectures I’ve seen from Catholic clerics in recent years (e.g., Archbishop Chaput of Denver, Cardinal Rigazzi [sp?] of Philadelphia) (Source: Hugh Hewitt show).

I.e., a majority of voting Catholics chose a man who promised to sign FOCA, and can be expected to pack the courts with pro-choice judges.

Large parts of the Catholic flock either aren’t listening or don’t care enough about the life issue to be motivated by it into action.

As a non-Catholic, it’s hard for me to take the nation’s Catholic leadership seriously on the pro-life issue, when so much of the flock openly disregards vigorous, explicit instructions from the faith’s leadership. (Don’t get me wrong—I’d like to take the Catholic leadership seriously. But I find it hard to ignore what my own lying eyes show me.)

Maybe Father Jenkins has stopped taking his faith’s leadership seriously, too.

and for the reco. I forwarded the petition site to as many people as I could think of and I know at least one of them has sent it on further. According to the site, 23,000 additional signers in the last 7 hours!

and apparently Notre Dame has their CINOS,and in the case of Father Jenkins a priest CINO at that!I was amazed when I read that Obama received 54% of the Catholic vote-in spite of his pro-baby killing stance and his position on stem cell research.How can they show up at church on Sunday! maybe they should move the confessionals outside,so they can use it before going in.

Unfortunately the "big stick' of losing their tax exemption will stop any church, Catholic or otherwise, from taking any action. The Democrats penchant of stifling speech they don't agree with is legendary and would be clearly seen if any official church action were to be taken against Fr. Jenkins or Notre Dame University. Bishop D'Arcy's and Fr. Rutler's personal statements and actions are about all you can expect to see.

and exercise church discipline against Fr. John Jenkins? Or will the Vatican step in to defend the Faith?

If these rebels against church teaching keep stretching the spring enough, at some point it’s either going to break or snap back. We can only pray for the church leaders to be both courageous and wise.
