Gun Owners of America linked to Soros & Marxist McChesney’s Free Press think tank

Second caveat. I warned in my previous post Media Takeover 101 Part II: Discover the Corrupt Networks you would probably at the very least lose some synapses. This time I am offering the caveat that your head is gonna explode. So for those brave enough, please read on.

Ok. You guys are probably sick of hearing about avowed Marxist Robert McChesney and Free Press and Soros. McChesney is a former editor of the Marxist paper Monthly Reveiew and is still a contributor. But I stated previously I was going to need a chalkboard bigger than my backyard to show you all the corrupt networks. But I misstated. I need one actually bigger than the city of Toledo. This stuff just keeps going on, and on and on and seems to have an unlimited amount of Energizer batteries.

McChesney’s and Josh Silver’s Free Press is not just advocating an entire media grab by the government. They are also big proponents of “Net Neutrality” and are making this another one of their missions in life. What I am about to show you will probably provide some “shock and awe” and surprise and chagrin most of you.

I got the lead on this from some crapola from my NutRoots bag and decided to do follow up at home and am dismayed at what I have found and will show you all the proof. McChesney & Silver not only run the Free Press but also the website Save the Internet as can be seen at the top of the web page. All the Charter members are listed on this page and at the bottom is a link to even more members. Save the Internet, like Free Press is also a misnomer. They don’t want to save anything: it’s about complete government control of the media and the internet. Here is a screen shot of their “mission statement.”

Save the internet

And here is their video “explaining” this, note Jon Stewart:

And the Thief-in-Chief on “Net Neutrality.”

But this post is not so much about “Net Neutrality” as it is about the “players” involved. I ran through previously some of Free Press’ major donors like the Open Society Institute which links to George Soros, the Media Democracy Fund which also links to George Soros. Donors Herb and Marion Sandler also link to the Open Society Institute, Soros, MoveOn, America Votes, ACORN and the Center for American Progress which links to Soros. With me yet? We also have the donor Democracy Alliance which links to George Soros and Drummond Pike and the Tides Foundation.

Ok. Let’s move on to the list of Save the Internet coalition and their charter members. First off we have the Coalition Coordinator which is Free Press. Timothy Wu is on the board of Free Press. Members of note which immediately caught my eye are:

  • Craig’s List
  • MoveOn
  • Credo which is a “progressive cell phone company” and has donated $65 million to progressive organizations
  • Democracy for America, Howard Dean’s baby which is now run by brother Jimmy
  • ACLU
  • SEIU
  • Color of Change
  • Teamsters
  • Democrats.com who call themselves “aggressive progressives” and link to CREDO
  • Media Matters

Not really any big surprises here. But the shocker is:

Gun Owners of America. This blogger isn’t going to cut them any slack here. After all, when you hitch your cart to a Marxist, what does that make you? Probably most of the organizations on this list are benign and could say I wasn’t aware, however, my high school physics teacher didn’t cut me any slack when I left out a crucial portion of my study on Wave Motion. And this was before the internet came into existence.

After the NRA/Disclose Act debacle I confettied my NRA card and sent it back to them with a nice little note. GOA I would welcome any statement you have on this. If a homemaker from Ohio can discover the corrupt networks and that McChesney is an avowed Marxist and is after the internet and our media what’s your excuse? And the Soros connections are undisputed unless you can refute your “membership” in his coalition. However the link is there which takes one directly to your site. And GOA let me be perfectly clear, I have a screen shot from the webpage.

Save the internet members 1

For those of you who don’t speak Norwegian, Kenny is saying what he would have to say in English wouldn’t be very nice. LOL

Kenny, why did I know you would be majorly upset about this one ;)

Upset........ Me ?

Nah.

Why should I be upset ?

My shredder will work just as well with my GOA card as it did with my NRA card.

Remember what Cass Sunstein said for their people to do…… Infiltrate organizations.

I’ll leave it at that.

I've sent a fairly well-worded request for info to GOA.

Kenny Solomon (Diary) Friday, August 13th at 11:04AM EST (link)

I simply asked them to explain why they’re a charter member to an organization that’s not exactly friendly to freedom on any level.

Gee, I’m no fun when I’m calm, reserved and using professional communications parameters.

;)

———-

…..and by the way……. Norwegian…… a hobby…….. I love the place, a second home to me (except for the Muslims overrunning the nation and the government kowtowing to it all).

Response received from GOA.

Kenny Solomon (Diary) Friday, August 13th at 11:55AM EST (link)

I received an almost immediate reply from GOA…. in the form of an internet link to their website….. a letter to Congress from 2006.

4/06 A Free Internet Requires Network Neutrality.

A Free Internet Requires Network Neutrality

April 24, 2006

Dear Representative,

As Congress considers major legislation affecting the nation’s telecommunications structure, particular attention must be paid towards maintaining the Internet as a medium accessible to all, so that the free market might continue to determine which goods, services and ideas prosper.

==============

They’re either clueless as to what ‘net neutrality’ and Free Press are all about, or it’s a deliberate action on the part of GOA – that ‘infiltrate’ thing rearing it’s head.

I’m not gonna comment further, because I simply don’t trust myself right now.

I’ve got to calm down.

LadyImpactOhio…… We owe you a real debt of gratitude for bringing this to the forefront.

I calmed down.

Kenny Solomon (Diary) Friday, August 13th at 1:06PM EST (link)

Basically, I asked them to take a look through Neil’s ‘Tech At Night’ columns and make up their own minds as to what’s what.

We’ll see what happens.

Kenny, that canned response from GOA is 4 years old..

ladyimpactohio (Diary) Friday, August 13th at 1:38PM EST (link)

they didn’t address why they felt they need to hitch their post to an avowed Marxist. As I noted in an earlier post McChesney also believes broadband is an “entitlement” and necessary for survival. Sort of like food, water and clothing.

I’m going to keep an eye on this one. Thanks.

Mr. Larry Pratt, GOA Exec. Dir. Responds - Positively.

Kenny Solomon (Diary) Friday, August 13th at 2:37PM EST (link)

Mr. Pratt just replied to a contact mail I sent and has given his blessing for me to post it here.

——————–

Hi Kenny,

At the time GOA supported net neutrality we were concerned that AOL and others might continue to block pro-second amendment issues.

The issue has now become one of government control of the internet and we are 100% opposed to that.

Larry Pratt
Executive Director
Gun Owners of America

My response (received and acknowledged by Mr. Pratt):

Hi Mr. Pratt:

I honestly am relieved to hear that and understand fully. Many people were bamboozled into siding with them.

Now please do literally millions of others a favor: Withdraw from that ultra-dangerous ‘Free Press’ affiliate.

Publicize that…. as much as possible, as loud as possible, as big as possible.

===============

I have a feeling we can expect a press release from GOA within a very short time frame.

Thanks for hopping all over this Kenny. Pro-2nd ammendment

folks owe you a debt of gratitude.

I’m already po’d at the NRA and am about *this* close to cancelling my membership with them (they’ve been told that a Reid endorsement would cause them to receive my shredded membership card). I was beyond disturbed today to think that the GOA was headed down the same path.

Thanks for all you do!!!

“A few.”

I like that. ;)

Gotta go now…… Cup Qualifying is on……. Go git ‘em Jamie !!!

Kenny, thanks for putting Pratt's response out there..

ladyimpactohio (Diary) Friday, August 13th at 5:26PM EST (link)

If this is his “official response” the key words of note are:

“at the time GOA SUPPORTED.”

As in the past tense. This gives me no idea of his position now or if it’s changed. My feeling is if this is past tense he should have pulled out from McChesney’s “coalition” long ago.

If Mr. Pratt’s position has changed he should dissolve his relationship with Free Press IMMEDIATELY and give us proof of such.

I am a woman who believes in responsibility. Both to oneself and to those who one represents. It is then incumbent on the representor to ENSURE any ties to suspicious organizations are dissolved.

It’s extremely easy to do “homework” on organizations such as Free Press. And as I stated earlier, if a homemaker from Ohio can find out this info it should be extremely easy for an organization like GOA. My feeling is vigilance is a necessity.

There are tons of info readily available on Free Press written by a myriad of trusted authors in the know. All one has to do is google Free Press and one gets 1,000′s of hits.

BTW. Mr. Pratt could have come to me. It’s easy to find me. I would rather deal with someone one-to-one than through a third party.

I’ll await his “press release” and then analyze.

Thanks Kenny.

4 Year Old Decision

edintexas Monday, August 16th at 6:51AM EST (link)

Apparently nobody at GOA has given a thought to the issue in the past 4 years. I can’t say what the intent of those “pushing” Net Neutrality was 4 years ago, though I suspect it hasn’t changed and the sponsors are essentially the same politically. But worrying about AOL today is a joke. AOL was a really big player what – a decade ago? And their influence has been declining ever since. I’m opposed to any company limiting 2d Amendment issues, but Pratt/GOA signed up with a group that the Craig’s List founder was on – that should have caused them to wonder whether they should be participating in the same grouping (divergent views on the 2d Amendment can be held by groups which have coinciding interests otherwise, but a vehemently anti-2d point of view should be a warning to 2d Amendment supporters).

These losers don't know crap about the foundation of the Internet

Finrod (Diary) Saturday, August 14th at 2:57PM EST (link)

The closest thing that would be the foundation of the Internet as we know it would be the Arpanet, which was funded by the military and was strictly non-profit.

Back then, the way you did something about someone being a jackhole was that you contacted their upstream provider and pointed out to them exactly what one of their subsidiaries was doing. Usually this solved the problem, though sometimes they were just as bad and you had to go to their provider, repeat as needed. This almost always solved the problem, except in one rare instance where the offender was paying for his connection directly to uunet, who by definition would always serve anyone who could pay the bill.

I wasn’t there at the founding of the Internet, but I did hang around during its teenage years, and I met a number of people that did contribute a lot to making the Internet as we now know it, and I can tell you unequivocally that these bozos don’t know their TCP from their IP, all they see is another domain for them and their liberal buddies to conquer.

The Internet is and always has been a cooperating anarchy. Nothing keeps you from running a mail server on any port you want, it’s just that by convention it usually runs on port 25 and other people won’t know where to find yours by default if it’s not on port 25. Web servers run by default on port 80 (and https on 443) but nothing prevents you from running a webserver on any port you want; all you have to do is add the port number into the url and people will be able to get there– I know one person who runs his webserver on port 4201.

People that try to control the Internet are denying its very existence. As the old saying goes, “The Internet interprets censorship as damage and routes around it”.

Let’s get down to brass tacks here. How much for the ape?

Finrod, thanks for the explanation, I didn't touch this stuff cuz..

ladyimpactohio (Diary) Saturday, August 14th at 4:49PM EST (link)

Let's wait for the response

kowalski (Diary) Monday, August 16th at 2:07AM EST (link)

GOA is supposed to be an up-and-coming organization that would, if it could supplant the NRA (which I’ll quite frankly admit doesn’t always do things exactly as some people would like).

But hey, I give everyone the benefit of the doubt. I’m a pretty magnanimous guy when it comes to listening to people’s explanations, and my first inclination is to at least let someone explain when they’re accused.

When a senior person here at Redstate insinuated that the NRA was, in effect, sleeping with the Left, my first thought was to wait a little while and see what the responses were. Since GOA is much smaller and at this moment much less effective than the NRA, they’re kind of the underdog in a sense, and basic civility dictates that before I really start getting upset, I let them explain themselves.

So I will. Let’s see what they have to say.

Before I even have a membership card that I might have to shred.

You know, otherwise it might just be a waste of money :) .

Kowalskiing myself

kowalski (Diary) Monday, August 16th at 2:25AM EST (link)

The fact that some organization’s name shows up on a webpage linked to Soros doesn’t necessarily mean much, after all. It could very well be that the person who made the web page put that link there just, kind of, as an accident or something.

This kind of thing has happened before, and of course all of us understand the problems involved in believing that everything one sees on the Internet is true.

Now, I know — it’s right there on a computer screen, viewing an actual web page, which must mean it’s true, right?

The only authentic explanation, refutation, and/or discussion of that link will have to begin with GOA itself as far as I’m concerned. Let’s see if they can explain why that link is there. This should be fun. I look forward to hearing what they have to say.

For example, let's look at the New York Times

kowalski (Diary) Monday, August 16th at 2:41AM EST (link)

Everyone knows that when they pick up that newspaper, or (as occurs more frequently these days) click on their website, they can expect that everything they read is not just “all the news that’s fit to print” but that it’s also quite literally true. Arthur Sulzburger, Jr. himself supervises the production of every single incandescent word that glows from the pages of that newspaper. He’s like the Breakstone Cottage Cheese guy – there for the sole purpose of guaranteeing its trueness and veracity.

And then, of course, each day their columnists and dwindling newsroom staff do their level best to vouchsafe the truth themselves, because otherwise how could they be effective arbiters of it?

We all know how important it is to have True News and True Facts and True Opinions to guide us in making decisions, and so does George Soros.

So, let’s do the reasonable thing: does GOA believe the relationship is reciprocal? Is there some “there” there? All of us want to know the truth, so somebody better start talking.

I e-mailed this gentleman as well and asked him for a statement.

I don’t know if you read the whole thread, especially Kenny S. comments. It APPEARS, and at this point I am not going to say for sure, at one time they MAY have put their name on McChesney’s list but may have not kept up on the situation. But I am not going to make any judgments at this point.

Thanks for being so level-headed about this. I believe in hearing straight from the horse’s mouth. They probably need a few days to sort this out especially when this diary was put up on a Friday. I’ll let everyone know when I hear something.

My you are verbose today. ;)

…on the issue of Net Neutrality. It’s so lost in nuance and competing interests that nobody understands what it’s all about–even if you try to research it, it’s very hard to cut through the propaganda.

That being said, GOA has some explaining to do, particularly, why are they involved in this issue to begin with? The reason many are flocking to GOA from the NRA is that they (supposedly) focus solely (and unapologetically) on 2nd Amendment rights.

I'm a patient man...

kowalski (Diary) Monday, August 16th at 9:44PM EST (link)

I’m a patient man, and so I can wait until tomorrow to see if GOA really has any explanation at all for this.

At some point all of us are just going to have to start calling them and asking the question ourselves, because it deserves an answer.

I can wait another 24 hours, and I’m not a blustery kind of guy when it comes to talking with organizations, but I really think it behooves GOA (and the Angle campaign) to start thinking very seriously about why this question hasn’t been answered.

Or if it can be answered.

Because if it can’t be answered, there’s a really serious problem, deep in the engine room, and we’re going to find out what it is.

Kowalski, please trust me I'm on it.. I'll call tomorrow pm if I don't get a response..-nt-
