Cars honk at the union protesters, drivers pump their fists in solidarity, many thinking to themselves:
Those evil, greedy, profit-loving corporate bosses are always trying to take the bread and butter from the workers’ mouths!
Oh!…
Wait a minute!…
Those union protesters aren’t picketing the offices of some nameless corporate behemoth. They’re picketing the church on the corner!
Why? Because the church members dared to use their money wisely and frugally and the contractor that helped on the new addition to the church was…
*gasp!*…
…a non-union contractor!
Big Government has exposed the Carpenters’ union in California protesting the Grace Baptist Church in Bakersfield…
In Bakersfield, California the local carpenters union is protesting the Grace Baptist Church for hiring a contractor who hired non-union labor. Grace Baptist Church had no control over who the contractor hired. You would think the local carpenters union would take a pass at protesting a church, but I guess not. Though the church greeted the protesters with water, coffee, cookies and candy. Do they feel bad for standing in front of a church with a “Shame On the Grace Baptist Church”? No.
Of course, by watching the video below, there’s no telling if the union protesters are real union members or if the Carpenters outsourced the protesting jobs. However, it does appear to be the same Carpenters’ union local that protested outside an ice cream store in nearby Arroyo Grande.

klondike Monday, May 31st at 5:40AM EST (link)I’ll never forget the unions in Fairbanks, Alaska picketing local beer suppliers that carried Coors, because Coors was a non-union company. The whole effort was ridiculous because these beer suppliers also sold beer from union companies! Every union member had to picket a certain amount of time per month or they were fined. The members just paid someone else to do it because that was cheaper than the fine. A judge finally ordered it stopped after four years, I think. Achance probably has a lot of the details.
And then there is the example of the Houston Teamsters building their new Local with – yep, you guessed it – non-union labor because union labor was too expensive.
These people are nuts.
klondike, remember Prinz Brau beer?
Achance (Diary) Monday, May 31st at 6:25AM EST (link)First real brewery in Alaska, and good beer too, but it didn’t suit the Teamsters and they ran it right out of business. I’m sure the State wound up with that big facility, but small price to pay for some Democrat’s election.
Actually, the private sector unions ultimately lost most of those contests. About they only thing they have now is the standard fare around the Country; regulated utilities, most transportation,ALL goverment funded work, and most work that requires a lot of government permitting, and of course, ALL public sector work.
Hey, I can’t bitch about them; they treat me better thant the Palin/Parnell Administration does – money’s green.

I'm afraid I don't, Achance.
klondike Monday, May 31st at 9:04AM EST (link)I remember the name, but that’s about all. I moved up into the Brooks Range in 1978, so needless to say I had no news source, nor did I want one. No electricity, no plumbing, no mirrors, no people, no chatter. It was heaven.
