New Poll Shows Just How Much The Black Voters Love Trump

Throughout his campaign, Donald Trump has claimed that he is loved by “the blacks”. How accurate is his claim? Well, according to the latest Quinnipiac University poll, not at all.

The poll, which puts Hillary Clinton narrowly ahead at 42% to Trump’s 40%, has Trump only receiving 1% of support from black voters. It seems like “his African-American” isn’t the only black voter refusing to support the Republican nominee.

Trump also falls behind the last two Republican candidates, as Mitt Romney won 6% of the black vote and John McCain won 4% in 2012 and 2008 respectively. Trump’s divisive rhetoric doesn’t seem to be bridging the racial gap, and 61% of voters say that “the 2016 election has increased the level of hatred and prejudice in the U.S.”.

Among Hispanic voters, Clinton leads 50%-33%, and 50% of voters believe Clinton will best handle immigration, one of Trump’s key campaign points. Voters also believe that Clinton is more trustworthy to handle nuclear weapons by a margin of 54%-35%.

Trump, however, still leads Clinton among white voters, 47%-34%, his key demographic.

The poll consisted of 1,610 registered voters and was conducted between June 21 and June 27, with a margin of error of 2.4%.
