I’m getting peeved with this answer and the rationale it’s based on. Uprooting your family and your home and business to move south because northeasten (and other Democrat) states are ideologically and fiscally craven isn’t an option for a lot of people, and nobody should be forced to move from where they live because their state government is so blinkered. The answer is to stand and fight, not turn and run.

If we’re going to continue to let Democrats push people around by doing things like this, we deserve the kind of country we get.

Don’t take it personally: it’s just that whenever I talk about Massachusetts and the nutbag way this state is run, I get the usual response, which is some version of: “why don’t you move out of that crazy place?”

Well, there are a lot of reasons why. The first reason is that I actually like where I live in Massachusetts. My family lives here, we’re starting a business here and we’re pouring our heart and souls (and all of our money) into starting one here. It’s a very pretty place with a great mix of people and I intend to keep it that way so that people 200 years from now will still find it just as beautiful as it was when my parents found it.

The fact that Governor Deval Patrick is such an idiot and that a lot of people in this state are so used to being pushed around by the Democrat machine isn’t a reason for me to want to pack up and move: it’s a reason to stand up and tell people that they don’t have to take it any more, and shouldn’t. The Northeast in this country is the cradle of our freedom, and it’s a beautiful place to live. It’s expensive and backward because we’ve let so many people who listen to the crazy rantings of people like Da Mayor get their way, all the time, every time. For no good reason. It’s time it stopped, and I’m not moving, because as you note: all that happens when you teach people to live stupidly is that they go someplace else and live stupidly.

I’m not into exporting stupidity and that means cutting it off at the source.

This is happening on an EMERGENCY basis from the Governor, which tells me that it could very well be passed by August.

From the legislation:

Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purposes, which are forthwith to make supplemental appropriations for fiscal year 2008 and to make certain changes in law, each of which is immediately necessary to carry out those appropriations or to accomplish other important public purposes, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience.

I am trying to ascertain right now when this will come up for a vote and I’ll know certainly by tomorrow. In the meantime, my answer is: “Yes.”

My best advice is to complete the course as quickly as possible and file for the license within the next few days, while the current filing fee is still in effect.
