Rahm Emanuel asks Israelis to abandon Israel and throw themselves into the ocean and die.

Well he didn’t say those exact words but he did demand that Israel make peace with the Palestinian leadership. Please note that I said Palestinian leadership as that is who represents all Palestinians. And seeing that Palestinian children learn geography from textbooks in which Israel doesn’t even exist then I think everyone should know what the Palestinian leadership wants.

If the textbook example didn’t tip you off then here it is – they want Israel to cease to exist. That is their version of “peace.” Everything else is just another negotiating position until they get what they want in the end.

The Jerusalem Post reports on Rham’s statements here:

Thwarting Iran’s nuclear program is conditional on progress in peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians, according to White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel.

Israeli TV reports said Monday that Emanuel made the comments in a closed-door meeting the previous day with 300 major AIPAC donors.

Last month, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton warned Israel that it risks losing Arab support for combating threats from Iran if it rejects peace negotiations with the Palestinians.

Clinton said Arab nations had conditioned helping Israel counter Iran on Jerusalem’s commitment to the peace process.

Meanwhile, in an interview with the Jerusalem Post Sunday, former US House speaker Newt Gingrich blasted the Obama administration for setting itself on a collision course with Israel and endangering the Jewish state. He called US President Barack Obama’s program of engagement on Iran a “fantasy,” and his Middle East policies “very dangerous for Israel.” He summed up Obama’s approach as “the clearest adoption of weakness since Jimmy Carter.”

Don’t believe me? How about reading Yasar Arafat’s own statements on the subject of “peace” with Israel. Here are his statements regarding his 1994 negotiations with Israel:  Link here.

I see this agreement as being no more than the agreement signed between our Prophet Muhammad and the Quraysh in Mecca.

Arafat further drew out the comparison, noting that although Muhammad had been criticized for this diplomacy by one of his leading companions (and a future caliph), ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab, the prophet had been right to insist on the agreement, for it helped him defeat the Quraysh and take over their city of Mecca. In a similar spirit,

we now accept the peace agreement, but [only in order] to continue on the road to Jerusalem

araft 1968The Time Magazine cover above is from 1968. That means it’s over forty years old now and yet nothing has changed between the Palestinian leadership and Israel . There will never be a final deal for the Palestinian leadership until Israel is gone. If history can teach us nothing else then henceforth history has little value in the realm of international relations.

Why not pressure Israel?

I first became aware of 2 seemingly never ending and intractable conflicts as a youngster. One was Northern Ireland and the other was Israel and her neighbors. For literally decades I would watch these situations become alternately heated and then calm but never resolved.

There was finally a peace in Northern Ireland. Yet it seems we are no closer to any solution in the Middle East. Wouldnt common sense dictate that after 50 plus years of fighting and bloodshed that any new perspective on closing this unfortunate chapter be at least given a fair hearing?

Being senselessly rigid on either side can only keep the respective populations involved in another 50 years of death and destruction.

Because Islam doesn't work that way.

Once Holy War is declared it’s never over. There are intermissions but it’s never over.

They’re still fighting The Crusades which, for the western world, have been over for quite a few centuries.

No, I’m not being facetious. It’s in their upbringing and teachings. That’s not to say all Muslims but those who are fanatical in their religion, like Ahmedinejad and Yassir Arafat.

It’s sad, yes, but it’s not something you can forget without paying a price when dealing with the Middle East. No matter how willing Israel might be, there will be no lasting peace because a war of annihilation has been called upon them.

Israel is not the problem

Lloyd Davis (Diary) Wednesday, May 6th at 7:35PM EST (link)

The problem is that the Muslims are commited to destroying Israel. Isarel has tried to live in peace since their modern founding in 1948. Their Arab neighbors have repeatedly tried to destroy the nation of Israel since that time. When the little terrorist thug Arafat was offered virtually everything he was asking for, HE WALKED OUT. He had what he wanted and turned it down. The only thing they want is to kill the Jews.

ISRALE HAS THE RIGHT TO EXIST IN PEACE.

IF ANY NATION WAS THREATENING TO BLOW THE UNITED STATES OFF THE MAP, WOULD WE WANT OUR SUPPOSED ALLY TO BLACKMAIL US INTO GIVING IN TO OUR ENEMIES?

Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph.

Where liberty dwells, there is my country.

They will fight

Steph C is right. The PLO will fight until the end.

So Israel's choice is to surrender to Hamas or surrender to Iran

Good to see that Obama is following the longstanding tradition of backing Israel. Is this the hope and change American Jews wanted when they backed Obama?
