UPDATE: Bernard Goldberg responds in thepoliticalclass.com comments here with an update:
Just spoke to Walmart … and was told they sell mainly fiction books in their stores … and that there is NO policy banning anti-Obama books … but that they take a “wait and see” position before deciding what books to sell. So far, Walmart is not selling A Slobbering Love Affair, despite the fact that it hit #2 on the New York Times list and has been on that last for four straight weeks

Bernard Golberg’s newest book, A Slobbering Love Affair: The True (And Pathetic) Story of the Torrid Romance Between Barack Obama and the Mainstream Media, is banned from Walmart?
In a radio interview this morning with Glenn Beck the author stated that ALL books considered to be anti-Obama are banned from Walmart.
Goldberg stated that his publisher informed his agent that his book would not be available for sale at Walmart per company policy. That policy is to ban all books that are ant-Obama. Golberg then stated the he and his publisher, as well as Fox News, have placed calls on the subject to Walmart but have not heard back.

Ahhhh, and the great censorship begins.
izoneguy (Diary) Monday, March 2nd at 12:11PM EST (link)What’s next? Union thugs breaking into the printing plants where anti-Obama books are printed and destroying the presses? I wonder if union shops printed these books?
Sounds like Germany in 1933.

The point cannot be made often enough: Modern liberalism, as embodied in the Obama presidency, is the defender of the status quo. And the status quo is a road to economic ruin. Political forces cannot redistribute the wealth that the economic system does not produce.
Nope, the next step is WalMart doesn't oppose EFCA.
Achance (Diary) Monday, March 2nd at 12:14PM EST (link)As I’ve said repeatedly, the business community, at least the big business community, doesn’t care what labor costs so long as everyone pays the same. All it would take is an assurance that the government will force their competitors under the pattern agreement too, and thy say, “where do I sign?”

How does that differ from Corporatism/Facism?
civil truth (Diary) Monday, March 2nd at 1:00PM EST (link)Especially if the unions follow the Andy Stern SEIU model of becoming a fixture of the Democratic party and negotiating sweetheart deals with business. Mix that up with ECFA and it sounds an awful like like a reincarnation of Italian Fascism. Especially when they set the brownshirts out against free-market conservatives and other political opponents.

There was a reason I was writing about coordination
Achance (Diary) Monday, March 2nd at 1:21PM EST (link)in Weimar and early Nazi Germany. Except the US version includes the unions where the Nazis ruthlessly suppressed them.

Which was why I specifically backed off from Nazi Germany as an example
civil truth (Diary) Monday, March 2nd at 2:09PM EST (link)…because Hitler wiped out the unions. I’m not that familiar with Mussolini’s Italy, but was under the impression there there was more of a big union-big business collaboration under government asupices.
Though actually, for about six months or so, I’ve been struck with the parallels between our current situation and post-war England – how they threw out the Conservatives who’d just won the war and the labor-business socialist state that ensued until Thatcher did a brave job of cutting off many of the roots.
The post-Thatcher history shows how virtually impossible it is to reverse a welfare ethic. Which is a sobering warning as to how crucial the next 2-4 years will be.

So they aren't really against unions? nt
mom2oneson (Diary) Monday, March 2nd at 12:45PM EST (link)nt
I'm sure they'd prefer not to be union,
Achance (Diary) Monday, March 2nd at 1:19PM EST (link)but so long as their competitors don’t have an advantage, they don’t care that much. The real problem beyond labor costs is that any place where unions have power in government, they make a business’s life miserable for permitting, for taxes, for financing expansion, even for simple stuff like getting the cops to come and pick up a shoplifter or the prosecutor to actually prosecute one – yes it does get to that level. It is a lot easier for a business to get along with the government than to not get along, so if unions influence the government, making nice with unions makes good business sense, at least for a while.

Thanks for explaining. :)
mom2oneson (Diary) Monday, March 2nd at 1:53PM EST (link)How do we prevent unions from getting power in the government?
That bridge is already burned, but generally the answer
Achance (Diary) Monday, March 2nd at 2:11PM EST (link)is that you elect Republicans, though that’s not true of all Republicans. Some suffer from the abused children syndrome and think if they’re just a little nicer to the unions, the unions will like them.

Sam’s is realy good. I know several women that are single grandparents (raising their grandchildren) that work there. They have insurance and stock buying and retirement matching. Walmart is the same way, they will give anyone an opportunity. I’ve seen friends that came out of a difficult period and get a $10/hour + overtime job at Walmart and get on their feet again in just a few weeks. Minimum wage is only $7 something around here.
should we all call Walmart?

other places are so expensive :(
mom2oneson (Diary) Monday, March 2nd at 2:03PM EST (link)Savealot/Aldi type of places are less expensive but they do not have everything.
I don’t know how I could boycott them long term. The other grocery stores charge a higher % on their food. Walmart has almost everything generic, many grocery stores do not have such a big line of generic foods.
generic tuna at Savealot is .69 cents/ a can
generic tuna at Walmart is .82
Regular grocery store doesn’t even have generic and it’s over $1.20/can
Beef Stew (dinty more) is $2.00 a Walmart
$2.29 at regular grocery store
Generic Spagettios are .50 cents at Save alot
.54 cents at Walmart (name brand is $1/ can at Walmart)
$1.00 a can for generic at the grocery store.
I didn’t even look at the name brand at the gocery store.
For non processed food like fruit and meat the price differences are even more dramatic.
Walmart food seems to be fresher, even the canned stuff has a longer exp date. Sam’s has the best produce too and they have a mbg on it if you buy something rotten.
It doesn't need to be long term
djemi (Diary) Monday, March 2nd at 2:14PM EST (link)just long enough for the WalMart to see a drop in revenue

Obama and Hillary didn't hate WalMart enough...
Husker (Diary) Tuesday, March 3rd at 3:03AM EST (link)Obama and Hillary didn’t hate WalMart enough not to have their books sold on its shelves. WalMart’s claim about selling only fiction books on their shelves is total bull.
The Audacity of Hope and Living History have been on the shelves at WalMart as featured “in store” authors.
Yeah, that's total BS...
