Unsurprisingly, the mainstream media would rather cover pro-abort masses as they clamor on about “rights” than a march proclaiming the worth of unborn human life.
The 2017 March for Life is Friday in D.C. This annual event protests the legal homicide of abortion, and draws hundreds of thousands of people from all over the country. But the media isn’t very interested in covering it since it disrupts their obvious pro-abort agenda.
According to NewsBusters, the media’s coverage of this year’s Women’s March compared to the 2016 March for Life was grossly lopsided.
During their morning and evening news shows, the three broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC) covered the women’s march 129 times more than they did the 2016 March for Life last year. And it’s anyone’s guess as to whether or not they will cover the 2017 March for Life Friday.
ABC, CBS and NBC spent at least one hour, 15 minutes and 18 seconds on the women’s march. But for the 2016 March for Life, they devoted an embarrassing 35 seconds (22 seconds following the march, 13 before).
Not once did a network news show mention the exclusion of pro-life women from the women’s march.
Of the broadcast networks, ABC was the only one to report on the 2016 March for Life. In a casual reference to last year’s January blizzard, Good Morning America reported on a “group of high schoolers trying to get back to Kentucky after visiting D.C. for the March for Life.”
The media’s bias against the pro-life movement wasn’t just evident during last year’s March for Life, though. It is a continuing problem. Andrea Ruth pointed out here that the major networks spent more time covering neo-Nazis during the 2016 election season than they spent on the March for Life in the past four years. They must think if they shove it aside and bury it in a quick sentence or two, it will go unnoticed. They couldn’t be more incorrect.
January 22 marked the 44th anniversary of Roe v. Wade. Decades have passed, nearly 60 million have been murdered, sacrificed on the altar of “choice”, and the media remains largely silent.
But those who physically march for life, and those who support them, will not forget and will never be silenced.
Newly-inaugurated President Donald Trump has already taken steps to combat taxpayer-funded abortion with the reinstatement of the Mexico City policy, which bans taxpayer funds from being used for abortions overseas. He is aware of the media bias regarding the pro-life movement, too. In an interview with ABC’s David Muir on Wednesday, Trump pointed out that the media doesn’t cover the March for Life, even though there are large crowds. Muir was a bit…tongue-tied.
Vincent DiCaro of Care Net pregnancy centers regarding the media bias:
“According to a recent Gallup poll, nearly 7 in 10 Americans think abortion should be illegal in at least some circumstances. It is time that the mainstream media treats pro-life people and the movements they support as just that — part of the American mainstream and deserving of robust coverage.”
The Gallup poll he referenced is here, and still shows a solid majority of the American people don’t believe abortion should be done for any reason at any time.
The media is clearly uninterested in covering the hundreds of thousands of pro-lifers who will march less than a week after a widely-covered, largely pro-abort march. This says much more about the media’s ever-present desire to control the narrative than about the actual truth of the strong, vibrant, unapologetic pro-life movement within this country.
