Reid was all over television Wednesday morning, backing out of his stupid ploy and lying all over the place about "rules." There is no requirement for a Secretary of State's signature on an Illinois appointment. An election, maybe, but not an appointment.

But we should get the constitutional law right - it is not just ‘qualifications’ that the senate is the judge of for its members but ‘elections’ and ‘returns’ as well. It seems to me the clear intent of the founders was to make the Senate and House the final judge of the selection process for its members - not the courts or even the states. If Reid and a majority of the Senate want to challenge his election to their body it is their constitutional authority to do so.

This can't be said enough.

I honestly don't care if they seat the guy or not - it won't change what legislation passes and I highly doubt it will have any lingering impact on elections in two year.

That said, I hope Blago sticks around for a long time and continues to act like the nut he is.
