If I can be an inspiration to anyone, just know that I have absolutely zero experience or knowledge at this. You can almost guarantee that I will be writing people here at Redstate with all my questions and concerns.
Our County President said that there were many openings in precincts in our county for chair. This has to be true across the country. (Well, I know it is because Cold Warrior said so!!!)
Anyway, check it out in your county! Don’t be scared; be involved.

Martin has a link in his Diary post to Ken Blackwell’s strategy document, which I hope you and everyone else will also read again.
I would greatly interested in learning what percentage of precinct committeeman/captain slots in your legislative district, county and state are unfilled. For example, here in Maricopa County, after the 2008 elections, only one-third of the precinct committeeman slots in our county were filled. I, and others, are working hard to change that — by recruiting conservatives to fill the empty slots. We’re making progress.
