I have a jaded view of things at times. I see offers to fax all of congress about a certain issue for $xxxx, or donate funds to this person or that website to run commercials in targeted states to affect votes or support conservative candidates. But really how do we KNOW those funds are well spent? I am willing to spend my money to make changes. I will spend money on a campaign of a candidate I trust and respect. It is time to sacrifice. Money. Time. Reputations. If not now … well we may not have another opportunity.
I think the deciding factor for me is what does CONGRESS say about these efforts? Which ones do they hear about? Which ones have the potential to make impact? According to the videos here, both Michele Bachmann and Jim DeMint say that the World Net Daily Pink Slip Campaign is being noticed by Congress.
So tomorrow I’m going to spend the $29.99 and join the 8 million people who have had personalized pink slips sent to every member of Congress. It’s possible the some of my time and efforts will not bear the fruit I want during this struggle. But sometimes it’s knowing that my voice is even potentially being heard … that I are doing “something” the best I can today that give me a bit of peace and perspective. For those moments of panic when I think I’m not doing enough! I should do something now! Can I work harder? Learn more? Then I count and reflect on the tangible things I have done this year to make sure that the 2010 (and 2012) elections bring conservative leaders to office, and help stall the insanity of socialist policies from becoming law. It’s calming when I get overwhelmed to remember I faxed, I donated, I called, I showed up. These efforts may not all be bull eyes, they may not all help in the way I hoped, but they DO help me.

Karen, I know you are a new PC. I humbly suggest you take the $29.99
ColdWarrior (Diary) Thursday, November 26th at 11:51PM EST (link)and spend it in some way recruiting more conservative Republican Precinct committeemen. Maybe do this — get the “walking sheet” from your GOP chairman for your precinct and precincts near you. Create a precinct recruitment flyer and spend the $29.99 making copies of it (go here to learn more: http://www.redstate.com/coldwarrior/2009/09/02/434-new-conservative-precinct-committeemen-and-counting/ ).
Using the walking sheets, stick the flyers in the doors of all the Republicans in your precinct and nearby precincts. For example, our Maricopa County, AZ walking sheets show whether the voter voted in each of the last four elections. Concentrate on those who vote consistently.
Then fax to as many congresscritters that you can that you are a brand new conservative Republican precinct committeeman and you are actively recruiting every conservative you can, explaining how you are doing it.
Guess what? Michael Steele is sending a flunky to talk to the brand new conservative Clark County, Nevada GOP leaders about how they and other grass roots conservatives, by becoming precinct committeemen, took over their county GOP organization and then the Nevada GOP leadership positions. And Steele is also going to visit the folks at www.anystreet.org who have developed a web site to empower individual Republicans to get involved locally as precinct committeemen. Why? Because www.anystreet.org represents a threat to the RNC — it’s what the RNC should be doing, but isn’t.
This is what the “powers that be” FEAR — the conservative “unwashed masses” coming in and taking over and replacing the status quo.
I saw DeMint’s interview on Greta about the Pink Slips. What he should have said, but didn’t, was, “These Pink Slips are great, but if you REALLY want to send a signal to Congress, become a Republican Party precinct committeeman. Grass roots conservatives should put on the top of their priority list becoming a voting member of the Republican Party — a precinct committeeman.” Why didn’t he? FEAR. He DOES NOT WANT the unwashed masses to come into the Party because he FEARS not getting re-elected — he FEARS possibly being challenged by a BETTER conservative in his primary when he stands for reelection. And he FEARS having all his friends in the Party losing their leadership positions.
So, I hope you’ll put the $29.99 first to PC recruitment.
Thank you.
