Just watched it on my DVR after hearing the big numbers the show got. Definitely an allegory for Obama, although the original series that I saw when I was a wee youngster was much more chilling. Having the Holocaust survivor, complete with tattooed serial number, essentially shaking his head like he's seen all of this before. And his grandson enthusiastically joining the youth military., assisting in the round-ups like the Jews the Nazis co-oped to help run their extermination plan.

The lesson is that totalitarianism just needs the right conditions and it can happen anywhere. Germans are wonderful people, and look what they turned into. For evil to triumph... It's really true.

The new series really has accelerated - probably too fast for my liking. I would prefer they build the lessons up instead of jamming them on us. I think the lessons get lost that way. But what can you do...we all know how V ends up, so there's no shock factor. Guess we can watch the old series.

The one thing I did notice was that the resistance guy mentioned that the Visitors fomented chaos in the world with things like "unnecessary wars." That was a clear dig at Bush and Iraq. No likey.

So besides using a ghost-writer for "his" books, MAObama follows the socialist/Communist/totalitarian playbook!

So any satire on that playbook will include you!

We await the future: keep your eyes and ears open on this story. It is possible that in fact political pusillanimity is at work here.

Imagine the $2,000 suits at ABC finding out that suddenly a top Drudge story is "V" - one of their new shows - being a Trojan horse of anti-MAObama satire!

Certainly other factors could be at work: don't expect logic from the entertainment "industry." But this has the stench of giving in to political pressure.

If they start moving the show around, or pre-empting it (Maybe MAObama will schedule a news conference in its time slot?), then that will be more evidence that they want the show to fail.

So ABC fired the writer and producer that redid a show with the same storyline and it so happened to look like 0bama rhetoric and actions. Its not the writer and producer's fault that 0bama modeled his overtake after the original "V" tv show

Is somebody choking already on the interpretation of "V" as a satire against Obamamania?

See:

We will wait to see what happens, but this is highly curious after the show received smash hit ratings.

Reportedly, it got a Nielson rating of 5.0, which is higher than anything else on TV since Lost premiered, so that's something.

The first episode was awesome, however I read yesterday on, I think Politico, that the head writer or whoever was in charge was fired after the muckity mucks saw the first episode and it is being toned down as we speak.

So basically, the show will end up sucking just like most everything else on TV lately.

Will Van Jones set-up a boycott of ABC advertisers who buy spots on V?

will probably turn out to be like those showers in Auschwitz.

Thank you for the perceptive review: I posted a small diary yesterday about this, but was unable to catch the show itself.

We will see if it catches on, and if the political criticism - subtle and obvious - continues.
