Those of Us in Blue States Who Can Afford It Should Shop at Whole Foods.

Well, Blue States and Austin, Texas. I’m sure there are Whole Foods locations in Red States too. But seriously, with droves of Libs now boycotting Whole Foods because of CEO John Mackey’s opposition to ObamaCare!

And what is not to love about Whole Foods? Yes, it’s got that dreary hippy thing going on, but most of the food is organic and if it isn’t certified organic, they do not use chemicals and pesticides in their products and their stuff is delicious!

And while they do support some wacko green stuff, including offsetting their emissions by purchasing carbon credits (a rip off and a contradiction, a license to pollute, basically.) They donate 5% of their profits to genuinely helping their community, which is something we can get behind.

And even if you can’t purchase your meat there (I sure as hell don’t.) Why not purchase things that cost the same like rice, pasta, sauces, canned soups, etc? The lefties are jumping ship because John Mackey didn’t follow the lib line on this one, I think we can help him out by getting what we can from Whole Foods.

We did, and liked it against our will

We started out buying only meat, unlike you (have you ever read ‘Dominion?’) I had forgotten what chicken tasted like until then, though it took me 3 tries to force myself to pay that much for one, a small, Amish-grown one. Then we moved on to other items, since we were already there shopping and it avoided going to two stores. Vegetables and fruits that taste like food instead of cardboard! Read the story of how John Mackey developed his economic philosophy – he started out trying to sell what he wanted people to buy and came to realize he had to offer what people wanted to buy.

Perhaps I should shell out the extra cash...

…and get my meat there as well. It’s just so expensive!

I ate from their hot buffet last week. Just had to be sure I was getting my money’s worth by the pound. I also purchased a quart of half-and-half cream for $1.99. Cheaper than the Food Lion.

Was there today.

The store was doing fine.

Well, because its got the whole dreary hippie thing going on,

The_Gadfly (Diary) Friday, August 28th at 9:34PM EST (link)

and they don’t use pesticides and chemicals to more cheaply produce good tasting food.

As for my meats, I buy them from the local farmers market. It’s mostly Mennonite not Amish, but the stuff is delicious. Best of all, I know they are coming down from the area where I grew up, so it supports my nostalgic bent.

Been there, done that

Picked up some nice whole wheat naan, meat, some fruit juices, fresh peaches, and chocolate ice cream.

Just because I’m shopping whole foods doesn’t mean I’m necessarily eating healthy….

My only complaint was dodging the Priuses in the parking lot is tricky in my 4×4 crew cab….

I don't live in a blue state

marshmom (Diary) Saturday, August 29th at 7:56AM EST (link)

but I do shop at Whole Foods as much as I can. I even travel about an hour to do so. Every once in a while you’ll see a car with a bumper sticker that has a blue circle inside a red square that says, “A blue dot in a primarily red state”. Sometimes I want to stick a nail under their tire.

I like shopping there because they have low sugar and preservative free foods for my kids. Also, the only grocery stores in the town I live in is a Super Wal-Mart and Winn Dixie, so it’s nice to see what the real world looks like every once in a while.

I've never been to WF

mom2oneson (Diary) Saturday, August 29th at 8:30AM EST (link)

but you can sign up here for coupons:

http://www.mambosprouts.com/
You might be able to get a copy at the WF customer service desk

organicvalley.com There are $1/1 milk, butter, cheese, eggs coupons. I don’t know if WF carries organic valley but I would be surprised if they didn’t.

http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/users/subscribe.php

subscribe to that and you will be on list the next time they email coupons

Look for the store coupon booklet when you go in. If you don’t see it ask for it at customer service.

This isn’t a coupon but the best prices for food per pound (except for fresh) is usually in the bulk section. If you own a crockpot you can cook grains in there 3 parts water to 1 part grain. Just make sure there are no rocks in them before cooking them.

Whole Foods Is Just Fine...

Liberals talk a mean game. But in private, at the end of the day, they just can’t stand stuffing pesticide laden tomatoes in their gullet. They’re actually all out in the Whole Foods parking lot getting others to “buy” for them. Just like kids standing in front of a liquor store getting adults to buy for them…or better yet, like Kramer had Jerry buy mangos for him when he was banned from the local food store.

Closest Whole Foods to me is 113 miles away

TNJim (Diary) Sunday, August 30th at 2:46AM EST (link)

in Greenville, SC. Not an option for me. I try to get to the local farmers market when I can. There are a couple of area chain super markets, plus Kroger, which I never went to anyway, mainly because the local one isn’t convenient for me, but after the Bristol Kroger had their little ZeroCare™ lovefest with TheOne™ himself they’re definitely not an option now. I’d go to Wal-Mart first.

I admit that I occasionaly shop at Whole Paycheck

only because it is one of the few places I can get good lamb. But our HEB supermarket chain has nearly all the esoteric food as they do, and are much much cheaper.

People who do not live in Texas do not understand the magnificence that is HEB. They are absolutely wonderful. Yet another reason to live in Texas.

Uh Scratch that, there is no reason to move to Texas, stay away!
