Did I suggest that it was okay for her 14-year-old daughter to be having promiscuous sex? No.” Saying he hopes he’s “cleared part of this up,” Letterman extended an invitation to Palin to come on the show as a guest.
Gov Palin was right. Even his excuse is pathetic. He would have sounded more believable had he given one of John Nolte’s “Top Ten Possible Letterman Reactions to Fallout Over Willow Palin Rape ‘Joke’” posted at Big Hollywood.
Bottom Line: From the NY Daily News – Lecherman’s excuse is not accepted:
“It doesn’t matter whether he was talking about Willow or Bristol, what he said was unacceptable,” responded Palin spokeswoman Sharon Leighow.

Colmes, you may recall, was one of the first ones to spread the Trig Troother nonsense shortly after Gov. Palin was named as the GOP Veep nominee. For that alone, he deserves eternal condemnation.
He does nothing but regurgitate leftist talking points and has no original throughts of his own. He shouts down any conservative caller who dares to challenge the talking points. Last night Colmes went ballistric several times – total meltdown. I’m trying to convince the station to replace him with Mark Levin, who can at least dispose of crank callers with some humor and reason.

Personally, I think that Letterman’s antics are en par with an ignored child throwing a temper tantrum. No one’s watching or listening so he’ll make you watch even if it’s going to get him in trouble.

There are plenty of unwatched shows that survive for many seasons (e.g. The Late Show With David Letterman) What shows can’t survive without are advertising dollars. Remember when Don Imus was the number one morning radio show in America and he made his stupid “nappy headed ‘hos” remark that ticked off a decent number of people? Rev. Al Sharpton (as much as it pains me to admit) brilliantly used his pull to not only get Imus to jump through apologetic hoops for the following two weeks, but to put serious pressure on Imus’ advertisers. No matter how sincere and numerous Imus’s apologies were, sponsors were pulling out of his show en masse because he became a financial liability. Despite being the number one morning talk show host in America, Imus ended up getting fired.
Letterman’s remarks were, in my opinion, more inappropriate and offensive that Imus’s and reached as well as offended a wider audience (and Letterman isn’t even the number one show during that time slot). And despite the liberal leanings of CBS, even they will kneel before their sponsors and throw Letterman under the bus if they’re under enough heat. Remember the CBS producer who thought it was a grand idea to interrupt the network’s most popular show (CSI) to announce the death of Yasser Arafat? Their bottom line overturned their political principles in that case.
Don’t think that Letterman is bullet proof at CBS, especially after the recent stunts he’s pulled.

She was a good sport on SNL, and she made the best of it, but it may not have been the best political strategy for building stature. In this case, Letterman has a rabid dislike for her, so anything could happen — and right now she needs to build her credentials, not increase her face time on an entertainment show.

I now believe that she made a big mistake in agreeing to be John McCain’s running mate.
