insist on being addressed by their given name. My teachers’ first names were Mr., Miz, Sir, and M’am. With my buddies I might have referred to them as “Old man so and so” and Old lady whatever, but to their face they only had titles, not names.

We all want to be on a first name basis with celebs – because somehow that makes us better, more worldly wise, more cosmopolitan. What it shows, however, is that we are rude and disrespectful.

My dad, until I was out of the house was “sir” – now, he’s “dad”. My elders, unless they’ve specifically asked me to call them by their first name, are still sir (and I’m almost 50).

For my children, I don’t hold with the “sir” label – but I’ve taught them that ANY adult over 25 is “Mr., Mrs. or Miss” – it’s just simple respect.

Sarah, Looking forward to your speach at CPAC. When speaking or campaigning always speak to all Americians with the same message.Never try to single out one group just to get their vote. Never single out male or female.
The message you have is for all Americans that believe in our constitution and the rule of law.All Americans should obey the laws of the land. Give us a hard hitting Federalist speech and be sure to hit hard on free interprise. Seems like some of our Republician Learders are gona let us down. You will bring the house down.

It’s amazing to me how easily people on the right have let media perception permeate their brains. I have been calling people out on this for awhile now. Funny, some don’t even know their doing it.

especially first name familiarity. There’s a great John Wayne line in the old movie “Ice Station Zebra,” in which John Wayne is greeting some scientists boarding his submarine. He says, “We’re on a first name basis here; my first name is Captain.”

I know her and I wouldn’t address her as Sarah, not even in private. I ain’t much on that egalitarian stuff.

I notice how much the media has programmed folks in the Republican.

People violating conservatives principles by expanding the government should always be forgiven.

But let someone be “too conservative” or attack the great leader Bush etc..

then as the folks even show on this thread that cannot be tolerated.

Attack McConnell oh no! Would should forgive give the benefit of the doubt.

But Palin, Paul (thought I admit on Afghanistan he is way out of line), impress you liberal friends by bashing them.
Or really impress them by smugly saying Palin is dumb.

I referred to her as “Gov. Palin” or “Gov. Sarah Palin” – except for one reference to “the governor” and another to “a Palin appearance.” The other references are all direct quotes.

If it’s the headline that you object to, objection duly noted. Now, perhaps you can persude Team Sarah to change their name to “Team Governor” or “Team Gov. Palin.”

Doesn’t quite work, does it?

I don’t support her. I don’t like her politically. And, I actually know her, yet when I address her or refer to her, her name is Governor.
