how polarizing Sarah is. She's so polarizing, it forced someone to set fire to her church.

As others here have noted, I hope this turns out not to be an arson. And I'm not going to jump on it must have been targeted toward Sarah. But, usually when the Firefighters say it appears to be an arson, it usually turns out to be - at least that's my observations of fire reporting.

continues.
NOT so much that I think the left 'establishment' had anything to do with the fire, which Alaska channel 2 is calling arson now.
Just that the days of the campaigning for office or, more precisely, denigrating and attacking opponents (even only potential opponents) are long gone. Listen to any of the Obama news conferences. Hear how in many respects his words are not a bit different then when he was only a candidate.
And there are more then enough nutroot followers to continue the attacks on not only Palin, but any other potential Republican candidate to keep the comments sections aflame.
As for the idea of "getting along", not a chance!
They only way to get along with the left is to adopt their agenda, lock, stock and barrel.
I, for one, am a Conservative voter.
The lefts ideology and agenda is simply something that I cannot, and will not, go along with.
Not on a voluntary basis.

vocabulary. Actually, I can read it pretty well and know the stuff you use all the time in law, but not much else. My grandmother was a teacher in rural Georgia in the early 20th Century. She had ten years of what passed for public education in 19th Century Georgia and two years of "Normal School." She could speak, read, and write Latin and read Greek. She always told me if I couldn't do the same, I'd always be a barbarian; she was right!

and maybe I've become somewhat cynical in my old age, but honestly, does this really sound like something a conservative would do to a liberal church? I think that this has to have been done by someone on the loony left in the effort of shedding light on Palin's supposed "extremist religious views". I don't think this is too far of a stretch and it shows just how far out of touch the left is when it comes to religious views because there are MILLIONS of decent, average Americans who believe just as Palin does. This is why Palin is so dangerous and why she has to be derailed by her enemies on the left - even if it takes extreme measures like this sick act of desperation.

1. She did not have the experience to deal with the media. Her grooming for politics (sorry but you have to be groomed. It's a camera job let's be honest) had only just begun. It was too soon.

2. She's a she. If she wasn't a she, Palin wouldn't have had the same problems. Sorry, but as a female, I think so. That's not to say she did not make mistakes. EVERYONE makes mistakes in a campaign.

3. Not related to Palin, but Rev. Wright. I'm not a "religious person" I guess you could say. I think the media had a couple standard about Rev Wright. I think he's a lunatic and a jerk, but here's my take. A lot of the pastors of politicians are controversial. But usually, they are for political reasons. Rev Wright was a great way to get known in a big community. Obama went to that church for that reason and anybody knows that! I think that there are many controversial "republican" pastors, but I think they don't get as much attention because that time has come and gone. Rev Wright was black, crazy and had been an effective way for Obama to move ahead in politics. I don't hold it against McCain for not wanting to go after Rev Wright. There was plenty more and I think people just panicked and went for the new guy. It's ok. Let's not act like chickens with our heads cut off! We'll make a come back and it'll be strong. Let's stay united and not fight. This statement by Powell is a good example. I'm glad Rush didn't dig into Powell. It's not worth it. Let's try to get along and build up, not down!

They were more than happy to rush up there to dig any dirt they could get on Sarah... they will be hard-pressed to be FORCED to go back and cover any actual real news (if this turns out to be)... as it won't fit Pro-Liberal MSM agenda... so your point is well taken! ;-)

LOL @ the detailed response about fire in cold weather. Thank you for enlightening me.

As for Reverend Wright, I have a different perspective about him. First of all, he was media gold. Having a lunatic on TV saying anti-American stuff is always going to grab viewers. Second, if it was Reverend Wright's Church, you're right. The media would have probably been on it like flies to ehrm... mud. But the trouble is, Alaska is very far away! Chicago is a hop skip over with lots of reporters. This might also be as silly as my comment about fire in the cold, but I'm stickin to it !

stags_leap, celtic diva, rfn, Sdog, though he's more of a libertarian, several others who are local don't miss many opportunities to criitize Gov. Palin. Andy Halcro runs his whole blog for the sole purpose of criticizeing her. For that matter, I've not been her greatest fan either, especially on how the whole Wooten and emails thing was handled, but I post under my real name, not a screen name. I want to make sure she knows who's criticizing her.

I can guarantee to everyone here the nutcases that post on the ADN and all those other newspapers in Alaska are NOT from Alaska. I suggest that people who are more familiar with IP Addresses check out the posters who post there and you will see that 99 percent of them are from other parts of the country, they have been paid by the Obama campaign to go on these sites and write nasty remarks about her, why, I will tell you why, to prevent her from running for President in 2012. That is what this is all about, fear that she will run. she has done a fantastic job as Governor in Alaska, cleaning up corruption over there, and then this happens to her church, I bet that this was caused by some crazy Obama supporter wanting to make some statement. When Glenn Beck was on Bill O'Reilly and he said that America has gone back to the 1860's I thought he was crazy but he is right, America has passed away, this is NOT the country I once knew, this country has gone down the drain, no wonder Obama won. As long as the crazy left are in control of this country you will not be able to recognize it after a while

I think they could have successfully morphed her into anything and the left along with a good chunk of the middle would have bought it no matter how ridiculous it was or how little it had to do with reality. "Stupid" and "religious nut" are tried and true attacks though, so why would they change up their game any?

is that nobody in Alaska would have considered her much religious. She goes to church, some, like most Republican politicians do here, though certainly not all of them.

When she ran for Lt. Gov., Loren Leman was the candidate of the Religious Right and he beat her handily. Now in the minds of the MSM and the Lefties, she's morphed into some sort of Right Wing Jeremiah.

but jumping to conclusions is the only exercise I get these days! ;-)

Again.... IF THIS WERE TO HAVE BEEN REV. WRIGHTS' CHURCH?

MSM would be wall-to-wall about HATE CRIME as the Headlines, and then the "call for calm" and "wait for the facts" comments in the next to last paragraphs.

Yes, could very well be a SIMPLE CAUSE to this fire that has nothing to do with any wrong-doing.... I made the "comment" not necessarily to be an "accusation" but to make a point about the Left in general!

Should've put a half-kidding warning or something on it! Fire and if it does turn out to be Arson is indeed no "laughing" or "joking" matter... Was poling at the Left! And the comment about "if it were Wrights church" needs no further explanation or any defense... you know darn well the difference that would occur!

PS: Cold weather has nothing to do with restricting fire. Combustible material, spark, and oxygen.... Cold can actually cause something to be more "dry" than presence of heat to transfer humidity.

and "suspicious" fires aren't particularly uncommon, though homes and, especially, businesses are more common targets.

That said, the nastiness towards Gov. Palin is unrelenting here in both blogs and in the comments sections of the online versions of the Anchorage Daily News and Juneau Empire. I've spent a fair amount of time on the ADN's sites and know most of the homegrown posters left and right. Since Gov. Palin's nomination truly nasty leftwing posters from all over the country and even some foreign countries have infested the place. Now a month after the election, the comments go on for pages and pages on any story related to her and often on stories that only a truly sick lefty could find a way to connect to her.

We don't know who was responsible for this fire. I think it's silly to assume right away it was a left-winger, especially given the timing. Nuts are all over these days. Let's wait for the investigation! Glad no one was hurt. It's so cold up there that I'm surprised any fire would last long enough to go farther than a few flicks of a flame.
