I talk with folks who support Obama.

They have said that his new track will change and that after he is sworn in he'll start doing what they want him to do. They do not seem to want to buy my bridges though.

Let's not under estimate exactly how willing people are to potentially delude themselves.

From the very beginning, the “big” problem Liberals had with Bush was when he was Governor of Texas, and the “excessive” capital punishment he oversaw.

Actually, they could just never move on past the fact that the Founding Fathers designed the Constitution with AlGore in mind. And they'll still be obsessing over GWB 20 years from now.

The dance goes like this: he plays as a moderate for the first 4, undercuts the GOP in the elections due to his record, gets re-elected, and goes off the deep end for the last 4.

[...] Josh Painter remarks on the wonderful way the usually so volatile hard left has been accepting the President-Elect’s departures from campaign positions in the direction of the center. How long, one wonders, will the honeymoon last? [...]

I've always suspected that most of these hysterical liberals that were so "outraged" during the Bush Presidency were really being disingenuous. They never really cared, they just wanted to use any convenient weapon they could to take down Bush.

From the very beginning, the "big" problem Liberals had with Bush was when he was Governor of Texas, and the "excessive" capital punishment he oversaw. Never mind Bill Clinton as Governor of Arkansas wouldn't spare a retarded man on death row, or that Al Gore also supported the death penalty. We didn't hear a peep about their "blood lust", only Bush's. At the end of the day, Liberals didn't really care, they just wanted to portray Bush as some sort of monster.

What about the "illegal" Iraq war Bush waged. What about the war in Kosovo and Bosnia that Clinton waged. Liberals were completely silent. Had a Democrat President invaded Iraq, there would have been a much broader base of support from the same Liberal doves and MSM.

The list goes on and on.

What Liberals really want more than anything is to win, they have no principles. If Obama carries over a lot of Bush's "awful" policies, most liberals will still send him money and volunteer.

As long as they're winning elections, most Liberals don't find any reason to become unhinged. That's what is ultimately most important to them.

And GTMO is the perfect point to hammer home the Dear Leader's blanket promises and statements. We've already seen him back off the promise to immediately withdraw from Iraq... the tax "cuts" of "everyone" below $250,000... the Bush tax cuts... "torture" practices... "crimes" under the Bush Administration.

I could go on and those people really get under my skin. I'm going to enjoy them froth at the mouth when Dear Leader doesn't fulfill their hopes and dreams.
