Yes, we are all living WJClinton's legacy. He disassembled the intelligence service, starved the military and threw up the "Wall" memo to protect his illegal dealings w/the Chinese. He also failed to respond (except in sterile, non-systematic attacks on aspirin factories as cover for domestic scandals) to eight years of terrorist attacks, thereby encouraging them.

Did Bush make mistake in responding to the results of Clinton's legacy (9/11)? Of course, just as FDR made mistakes responding to Pear Harbor -- Japanese Internment Camps, for instance. However, would that have justified Truman in throwing political opponents into internment camps? Hardly.

And so it is w/BHO using wartime/crisis powers against his own population. It cannot and should not be blamed on President George Walker Bush.

of Bill Clinton. Yes, I agree that Bush had failings. Fine. Let's make a poster with his picture on it, stomp onit, spit on it and set fire to it. But at some point we really need to STOP BASHING BUSH.

is foreign policy. At least up to late 2003 when he decided to hide under his desk and let the Democrats and the media have a free run. I've absolutely and consistently supported Bush's actions after 911 (although I would have rather he ignored the UN, but I can live with that). My problem has consistently been his action on the domestic front and his inaction in defending his correct policies and giving the Ds the bully pulpit.

I'm not drinking anything, but black coffee, and I simply realize that "leadership" wasn't in GWB's lexicon. The guy destroyed the Republican Party and set the stage for Obama.

Trust me, as much as I regret Bush's overall lack of a small government philosophy, I still respect the man very much. Like I said, I still have his sticker on my car, the McCain one went off the day after the election.

I am also a student of history, my sheepskin says History on it. You are quite correct about Lincoln and things do change in war when you are trying to defend the homeland. Our bureaucracy did not work before 9/11 and Bush did his best to fix that, unfortunately that created more bureaucracy. I was not a full bore anti Patriot Act type, but I did say our political enemies might use the power against us in the future.

I am a Christian but I don't believe God has turned against us. The reason is that I don't believe God protects nations and destroys them, too much evil has occurred in history to think God protects the good against the bad. I do respect all belief systems though, and I do agree our nation has become decadent, and that is a major reason why we are struggling so. To me God inspires men to do great things. It might sound lame, but I truly believe that God helps those who help themselves. In other words, He will not protect your life or culture, but He will inspire you to do just that.

BTW, IBC is good stuff :)
