Half Way There: Ted Cruz Money Bomb

Yesterday the Ted Cruz for US Senate campaign launch a new TV ad and an ObamaCare Repeal Moneybomb.

The campaign set a goal of raising $100,000 from March 21-23—the two year anniversary of when ObamaCare was passed and signed by President Obama—so we can send a conservative fighter to repeal it.  Below is an update from the campaign on how close Ted is to meeting his $100,000 goal.

Ted Cruz First TV Ad and ObamaCare Repeal Money Bomb

With 69 days to election day and 10 days left in the fundraising quarter the Ted Cruz for U.S. Senate campaign launched its first television ad of the Senate race “Delivers,” and launched an Obamacare Repeal Money Bomb.

The 30-second spot, “Delivers,” highlight’s Cruz’s successful work as the Solicitor General of Texas defending U.S. sovereignty against the United Nations and World Court in the case Medellin vs. Texas. The ad also reaffirms Cruz’s commitment to leading the fight for fiscal responsibility in Washington.

The central case discussed in the ad is Medellin vs. Texas. Jose Ernesto Medellin brutally gang-raped and murdered two teenage girls in Houston. When the World Court tried to order the United States to reopen Medellin’s conviction (along with the convictions of 50 other murderers), Cruz fought the World Court and the U.N. all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court and won 6-3.

The ObamaCare Repeal Money Bomb is running for three days with the goal of raising $100,000.  The Money Bomb is running to Friday March 23rd, the date President Obama signed ObamaCare into law.  Will you contribute today to help repeal ObamaCare and to keep Ted’s TV ad on the air?

The “Delivers” TV ad script is below.

“DELIVERS” – SCRIPT

(Announcer)

When the U.N. and World Court overruled a Texas jury’s verdict to execute an illegal alien for raping and murdering two teenage girls, Ted Cruz fought all the way to the Supreme Court and he delivered.

Politicians from both parties have broken promises, driven us to the brink of bankruptcy, and failed to secure the border.

Politicians cut deals; principled conservatives deliver.

Ted Cruz, a proven conservative fighter who delivers.

Choose Cruz for U.S. Senate.

(Ted Cruz)

I’m Ted Cruz and I approve this message.

Happy Texas Independence Day!

Happy Texas Independence Day, I was not lucky enough to be born here, but I got here as fast as I could!  Today’s Texas Independence Day history lesson below comes from Ted Cruz, enjoy.

This Texas Independence Day, Texans face a choice. Liberty is in danger, and we have a chance to draw a line in the sand and fight for it. I’m proud to say that Texans will stand up. Because Liberty is in their veins and in their heritage.

In early March, 1836, 52 men braved the bitter cold in the small village of Washington-on-the Brazos, Texas to form a new nation. The building had no glass in the windows, and these delegates wore buckskin and homespun. Compared to the gathering in Philadelphia 60 years before that launched the United States, this was a poor and improvised affair.

But the men who on that day declared the Independence of Texas knew with every fiber of their being what the price of liberty was. One hundred and fifty miles away, in a dank, crumbling adobe fort called the Alamo, just under 200 of their countrymen faced the ninth day of a terrible siege.

The enemy was the Mexican general Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna, who had campaigned on a platform of change and liberty. Many Texans had supported him, but soon soured when it was clear that he was not quite what he had claimed to be.

In the Alamo, Lt. Col. William Barrett Travis knew the odds were against him. But he also knew that the fight for liberty is always worth it – whatever the odds. In a letter a few days before, he made it clear where he and his men stood:

“…I shall never surrender or retreat. Then, I call on you in the name of Liberty, of patriotism & everything dear to the American character, to come to our aid, with all dispatch. The enemy is receiving reinforcements daily & will no doubt increase to three or four thousand in four or five days. If this call is neglected, I am determined to sustain myself as long as possible & die like a soldier who never forgets what is due to his own honor & that of his country. — Victory or Death!

The Alamo fell on March 6, 1836. None of the men inside could know that just four days earlier, Texas had declared its independence. None would know that by the end of April, Texas would secure that independence with the glorious victory of San Jacinto. For all they knew, they would die forgotten in that crumbling frontier bastion. And yet those brave men fought on, because the fight for liberty is what makes men and women free.

That spirit still guides the Lone Star State today. In the words of Sam Houston, true now as they were the day they were spoken, “Texas has yet to learn submission to any oppression, come from what source it may.”

Sign up to join our fight for liberty today.

  • Governor Rick Perry- Spoke Thursday at 1:20 pm EST
  • Anita MonCrief, Tea Party Activist, speaks on the “A New Voice Panel- Solutions to Battling Race & Class in Politics” at 1:30 pm EST Friday

  • Melissa Clouthier, Blogger, speaks at “Social Media Mastery” at 10:45 am EST Saturday
  • Senator John Cornyn speaks at 3:05 pm EST Saturday
  • Ted Cruz, US Senate Candidate, speaks at “Right for the Future: 2012 Conservative Candidates” at 3:30 pm EST Saturday.

You can watch these Texans speak at CPAC live online at www.cpac2012.conservative.org and on CSPAN and don’t forget to follow the conversation on twitter with the #CPAC hashtag.  Read more below to learn about the uninvited guests planning on crashing the party….

Occupy DC protesters and labor union protesters plan on having a presence at CPAC as well.  Lachlan Markay with The Foundry reported the following;

The “Occupy DC” protest group is planning to disrupt the upcoming Conservative Political Action Conference using a range of potentially illegal tactics that could even include violence against participants, Scribe has learned.

The planned disruptions at CPAC come only days after U.S. Park Police raided Occupiers’ tent cities at McPherson Square and Freedom Plaza in Washington, D.C., confiscating a number of tents, and prohibiting Occupiers from camping out there any longer.

During a Thursday meeting at McPherson Square, until Saturday the epicenter of the protests, Occupiers brainstormed tactics for shutting down or disrupting the conference, according to a source who was present at the meeting.

The protesters suggested pulling fire alarms in the hotel where the conference will take place, screaming “fire” during conference activities, “glitter-bombing” participants, cutting electrical power, and barricading entrances to the hotel, according to the source, who requested anonymity.

“Speakers will be physically assaulted, not just verbally confronted,” the source told Scribe in an email. Two Occupiers, who the source also identified as members of the New Black Panther Party, “said they would be disappointed if they didn’t get arrested and planned to ‘make it count.’”

The source quoted another protester as saying, “Mitt [Romney] has Secret Service now, but [Newt] Gingrich and [Andrew] Breitbart don’t,” seemingly suggesting that the latter two would not be as heavily guarded.

Protesters planned to conduct most of these activities on Saturday, the last day of the conference, so as not to overlap with the recently announced protests by labor groups on Thursday and Friday.

Maybe some of our Occupy Austin friends will leave City Hall and join the DC Occupiers.  But probably not since Occupy Austin is too busy protesting the City of Austin’s power washing habits while costing the city well over a million dollars, to take up such a trivial cause as protesting a conservative gathering of 10,000 activists and three presidential candidates.

Rahm Emanuel Funds Challenge to Illinois Concealed Carry Ban

It broke yesterday that Rahm Emanuel and the City of Chicago wrote a $399,950 check to the 2nd Amendment Foundation for the City of Chicago violating our right to keep and bear arms.  The $399,950 check was reimbursement for legal fess incurred by the 2nd Amendment Foundation while fighting and winning the McDonald v. Chicago case before the United States Supreme Court.

It turns out that now the 2nd Amendment Foundation will lead the appeal of a U.S. District Court decision that upheld the State of Illinois’s ban on legally carrying a concealed weapon.  Thanks to Rahm Emanuel and the City of Chicago now the 2nd Amendment Foundation has even more funds to help fight this key case defending our right to keep and bear arms.

Illinois is the only state in the union that outright bans a law abiding citizen from carrying a concealed weapon.  Below is a map that lays out the varied laws of the states regarding concealed carry.  Before carrying in another state do your own research on the laws of the land.

Thank God I live in Texas where our elected officials respect and embrace the 2nd amendment!

Rahm Emanuel Writes Check to 2nd Amendment Foundation

Rahm Emanuel and the City of Chicago wrote a $399,950 check to the 2nd Amendment Foundation for the City of Chicago violating our right to keep and bear arms.  Hat tip to Ted Cruz for pointing this out on his facebook page, the post has over 3,000 likes.

Thanks to Rahm’s attempted gun grabbing overstep, the City of Chicago is now funding the next round of litigation defending our right to keep and bear arms.  Thanks Rahm!

Over 200 Leading Texas Republican Women Endorse Ted Cruz for Senate

The Ted Cruz for Senate campaign announced today that over 200 leading Texas Republican women have personally endorsed the campaign, including over half of the current statewide leadership of TFRW that is permitted to and intends to endorse in Republican primaries.  Cruz has been endorsed by more Republican women than any other candidate in the US Senate race.  Why is this important?

The Republican women that make up the membership of the Texas Federation of Republican Women is over 11,000 ladies strong with 163 local clubs across the state.  TFRW is the second largest Republican women’s federation in the nation and in the last election cycle TFRW members logged over 850,000 hours working on campaigns.  You can be assured that thousands of these campaign hours will be spent advancing the Ted Cruz campaign.  TFRW is undeniably the most powerful political organization in Texas today.

Karen Townsend, the immediate past President of the Memorial West Republican Women’s Club, blogged her reasons for supporting Ted Cruz as a Republican Women leader, in short, because he is a “Happy Warrior.”

Ted Cruz, though, grabbed me. He captured my attention with the first speech I heard him deliver.  He is a compelling candidate – he inspires the audience.  In times like this, we need some real inspiration.  We are a nation mired in despair and anger.  We need someone fresh who will inspire us all.  Most importantly, we need someone who will inspire us as Republicans to be happy warriors.  Ted Cruz is a happy warrior.

Will you join Karen and 200 plus other Republican Women in supporting Ted Cruz?

Note:  These are individual endorsements.  The Texas Federation of Republican Women does not and cannot endorse in a Republican primary, and current TFRW club Presidents and Campaign Activities Chairs are not permitted to endorse.

* I work for the Ted Cruz campaign and am very biased, but can 200 plus Republican Women be wrong?

Crockett Keller Defends CHL Radio Ad

Deep in the heart of the Texas Hill Country in Mason, Texas concealed handgun license instructor Crockett Keller’s radio ad promoting his CHL course has gone viral and received national attention.  Drudge Report recently picked up the story and Glenn Beck interviewed Crockett Keller.

Crockett Keller defended his CHL radio ad to Glenn Beck,

“That was somewhat of a tongue-in-cheek jab at some of my liberal neighbors,“ he explained regarding his stance against ”socialist liberals” and those who voted for Obama. “You understand, I put this ad on a small, local country music station that has less about a less than a 50 mile radius. You know, I was pretty much speaking to my neighbors. That’s somewhat expanded, I think.”

“I have approximately 10 hours to try to instill some form of knowledge into a person where they can make a life and death decision in split second. When you carry a weapon to defend yourself … you have a scant few seconds to decide whether not this warrants using deadly force or otherwise. … Now, they [liberal voters] had over a year and a half to vet who they voted for president. Now how can I take 10 hours and try to teach them a life and death decision in just a few seconds in just a few seconds when they screwed it up after a year and a half?”

You can listen to the whole radio interview with Glenn Beck and Crockett Keller here.  Listen to Crockett Keller’s radio ad here.

Crockett Keller is now being investigated by the Texas Department of Public Safety.  To become a CHL instructor in Texas, you must be licensed by the DPS and be up to their standards to teach the class.  Previously the DPS stated that,

“The Department became aware of the statements in question yesterday and has begun an investigation into the matter. The Department will take appropriate administrative action based on the findings from the investigation.”

Stay tuned for more information on the DPS’s investigation of Crockett Keller.

Ted Cruz Endorsed by 115 Leaders of Texas Federation of Republican Women

Ted Cruz for Senate announced today that 115 leaders of the Texas Federation of Republican Women have united to support the campaign.  And though TFRW by-laws prohibit many statewide officers from endorsing in primaries, of the officers who are allowed to endorse and intend on endorsing, half are formally supporting Cruz. These Republican Women are part of the growing conservative movement uniting behind the Cruz campaign.

Ted is the obvious choice to take on the Obama agenda because he’s spent a lifetime standing up and fighting for conservative values. He is the only proven conservative in the Senate race. We can always count on him to stand up for U.S. sovereignty, the Constitution, and traditional values. Join Republican Women across the state and urge conservatives to support Ted!

tfrw

Though TFRW by-laws prohibit many statewide officers from endorsing in primaries, of the officers who are allowed to endorse and intend on endorsing, half are formally supporting Ted Cruz. These Republican Women are part of the growing conservative movement uniting behind our campaign.  Ted was recently profiled on the cover of National Review, and the story mentioned the Kerr County Republican Women Candidates Forum that Ted participated in and won.

Here are a few more testimonials from TFRW leaders:

“Rarely does a candidate come along I get so excited about supporting. He is exactly the kind of conservative we should be uniting behind. He can articulate conservative principles, has a compelling personal story, and is the best candidate to stop the Obama agenda.”

-Sherry Peterson, TFRW Deputy President for Region V

“Ted’s record has shown that he actually is a conservative. He won’t compromise with liberals, and will not only vote the right way in the Senate, but will really help advance the conservative cause. We need him in the Senate to truly cut spending, limit the size of government, and get our nation back on the road to fiscal sanity.”

-Barbara Larson, TFRW Vice President for Legislation

Ted’s campaign has tremendous momentum and support, with endorsements from nearly all the conservative leaders in Texas and nationally, and he needs your help to keep it going. Will you please join the Republican Women who are endorsing Ted Cruz today?

Texas School Finance Plan Killed by Point of Order, Next Steps

Texas State Representative Wayne Christian released the following statement explaining how the school finance bill, SB 1581, was killed tonight and what the next steps are to make sure our public schools are adequately and equally funded.

Now that a budget agreement has been reached between the House and the Senate this is the last piece of the puzzle, to decided how the money that has been appropriated gets distributed to the schools.  This is not a Republican vs Democrat issue, more so a rural vs suburban vs urban, or rich vs poor issue that cuts across party lines.

Rep. Yvonne Davis called a point of order that killed SB 1581, the school finance vehicle.  A point of order is a technical violation of the House rules that the bill violates.

Now SB 1811 will become the new vehicle for the school finance plan.  SB 1811 has been passed out of the House and Senate and it is going to conference committee for both the chambers to work out the differences between the bills.  The conference committee members will ask their respective chambers to “go outside the bounds” in their conference committee report and add in a school finance plan.  This will require both chambers to vote on this request to go outside the bounds and approve the request.

This limits the input of members of the House and Senate who are not on the conference committee.  The House has not appointed its conference committee members yet, the Senate’s are below.  The House sponsor of SB 1811, Appropriations Chairman Jim Pitts, will appoint the House conference members, he will for sure be one of them.

Senate Conferees: Appointed (05/21/2011) Duncan (Chair) | Deuell | Patrick | West | Williams

It is yet to be determined what school finance plan (Eissler or Hochberg) will be considered and adopted in the conference committee.  Who the House conferees are (Eissler, Hochberg, or both?) will have a big determination on what school finance plan gets taken up.

Once approval is given to go outside the bounds and the conference committee adopts a school finance plan each chamber will vote the bill up or down without the chance to offer any amendments.

Like always, the situation is very fluid and something may have changed by morning, stay tuned for additional updates as the situation develops.
