Carter Wilkerson asked Wendy’s how many retweets he would need in order to get a year’s supply of nuggets for free. This was the response.

Wilkerson currently has just over 3.4 million retweets – far below the 18 million – but his tweet is the most retweeted tweet of all tweets, earning recognition from both Twitter and Guinness World Records.
Despite under-performing his goal (he got less than 20% of the total retweets necessary), Wendy’s decided that it was fine and gave him the nuggets anyway. Sonny Bunch of the Washington Free Beacon, makes a good point on this.

However, what Wendy’s did was not only give a kid free nuggets, but it also gave $100,000 to the Dave Thomas Foundation.
.@carterjwm is now the most retweeted tweet of all-time. That’s good for the nuggets, and $100k to @DTFA. Consider it done. #nuggsforcarter pic.twitter.com/k6uhsJiP4E

So, a happy ending, despite the mediocre showing of just 3.4 million retweets. Congrats Carter. You may not have earned it, but you did do something good.
