Fox News’ Neil Cavuto has clearly outed himself as a country club elitist upset about being thrown off his gravy train. Or maybe he’s a crypto-liberal seething that his beloved Hillary Clinton didn’t win. Or perhaps he’s just a run of the mill “cuck-servative.”

Or could it be that he’s leveling cogent and accurate criticism at a President because said President is not the pure as the wind driven snow, stable genius, 12 dimensional chess master, and American hero his fanatical followers demand blind allegiance to?

Cavuto does provide a lot (A LOT) of caveats though. That might reduce the number of rage tweets from users with #deplorable #MAGA #Benghazi in their bios calling on their 43 followers to boycott Cavuto’s advertisers. (As it stands there’s probably no guarantee that Hannity or Lou Dobbs won’t rage-poop in Neil’s office chair.)

Despite his apologies, Cavuto rattles off a litany of Trump’s dishonesty and frequent incoherency.

“Let me be clear, Mr. President,” Cavuto said. “How can you drain the swamp if you’re the one who keeps muddying the waters?

“You didn’t know about the $130,000 payment to a porn star, until you did,” he continued. “Said you knew nothing about how your former lawyer handled this, until you acknowledged today that you were the guy behind the retainer payment that took care of this. You insist that money from the campaign or campaign contributions played no role in this transaction. Of that you’re sure. The thing is, not even 24 hours ago, sir, you couldn’t recall any of this.”

Cavuto went on to tick off a list of examples of statements Trump has made that were incorrect or appeared to conflict with earlier statements. There was “the time you said the Russians didn’t interfere in the 2016 election, until a lot of Republicans had to remind you they did,” Cavuto said. “Came back months later, and you said, ‘Well, I never said that Russia didn’t meddle in the election,’ when in fact you had — a lot.”

There was the time Trump claimed the tax reform bill “would cost you a fortune when it turns out it is going to help make you a bigger fortune,” Cavuto said. And the time “you said there was serious voter fraud in New Hampshire, and there wasn’t.” And the time Trump said “millions of illegals voted in the last election, but they didn’t.”

This week, my criticism of Trump somehow ended up on the radar of Twitter enforcers who never paid me any mind prior to the departure of other Trump critics from RedState. Some of it was less a criticism of Trump and more a criticism of those who sacrificed their integrity for him. My colleague Kimberly Ross has addressed the “raging hypocrisy” on the right as well.

I guess their NeverTrump Derangement Syndrome requires an Emmanuel Goldstein. It will be interesting to see how they react to Cavuto’s monologue which actually details the reasons why I still think Trump was the worst possible politician for Republicans to have dropped into the seething piranha tank of Democrat corruption and lunacy. His vanity, lack of discipline, and habitual dishonesty make him the easiest of targets in addition to making him untrustworthy.

Wearing a black pointy hat and flying around on a broom while cackling “WITCH HUNT” is not a good strategy.

Cavuto went on:

“You probably might not care. But you should. I guess you’ve been too busy draining the swamp to stop and smell the stink you’re creating. That’s your doing. That’s your stink. Mr. President, that’s your swamp.”

The bulk of Trump’s troubles are of his own making, but pointing that out to the faithful has become taboo because …but Hillary! 

Trump is definitely creating his own stink as Cavuto says. Cavuto neglects to mention that Trump’s tribe is bottling it as cologne.
