Forget John McCain, THIS is straight talk *UPDATE*

Got the embed figured out, thanks izoneguy.

Chris Christie for President!

I’m not kidding. Did you see the look on the people’s faces? Even those who you KNOW would normally disagree?

This guy has an ability to connect at a visceral level, and speak truths that no one can deny, no matter their political persuasion. I don’t care if he’s fat. He gets the job done, and that’s always been the criteria, hasn’t it? Compare this to last night’s Oval Office speech.

Yes, I’m a fan. I’ve seen the man work.

UPDATE: From Ed Morrisey at Hotair, who has been doing this much longer and better than I (and for filthy lucre – is there a correlation?):

One of the questions that often comes up in analysis is whether the American electorate is really prepared for the kind of tough budget cuts that are necessary to get the country back on the right track of fiscal responsibility. Christie is making New Jersey into a test case. Its electorate tilts towards the Democrats, but they elected Christie handily to reject the Leftward policies that ran the state aground. Christie has publicly and explicitly challenged the public-sector unions, has already enacted significant cuts to the budget and some services, and offers this kind of defense of conservative policies on a regular basis. If New Jersey voters wind up rewarding Christie for his clear-eyed and honest work, it should serve as a lesson that voters really do understand that there is no free lunch, and that they’re prepared to reward fiscal responsibility over pork-barrel politics.

Says it better than I. Could be why I’m a dilettante and he’s a professional, methinks.

Chris Christie for President!

izoneguy (Diary) Wednesday, June 16th at 1:55PM EST (link)

Here is your embed…..
Great video

The point cannot be made often enough: Modern liberalism, as embodied in the Obama presidency, is the defender of the status quo. And the status quo is a road to economic ruin. Political forces cannot redistribute the wealth that the economic system does not produce.

Maybe you can put me some information

But I couldn’t embed that video in the post, and you can in a comment? If you can tell me how to do it, I’ll update and improve.

Thanks for the embed. You are a scholar and gentleman.

be sure to change the size of the video….
For Redstate I use 500px wide and 400 oix tall….
That way the YouTube logo will be in the black space
on widescreen videos.

No teleprompter. looking the audience in the eye. confident. i saw a room full of New Jerseyans at the end of that speech. not dems, repubs, and independents. That is the type of leadership this nation needs, desperately.

true

Isn’t THAT amazing?

Can’t we do that for the rest of the country?

To last years with Democrat officials over Obamacare.

He simply isn’t afraid.

If they weren’t, maybe things would have turned out different, not that I like it. But it shows they weren’t confident or sure about it enough to speak any sort of truth about it then.

It's sad that truth and common sense are refreshing

but I’ll take it! Christie rocks. Every Republican and conservative should be taking notes.

jd crooked

If you compare JD Hayworth to McCain, McCain could not be any more straight. All JD has is a sign on a corner that says consistent, he does not have any history to prove he is consistent in any other area then corruption.

Term limits would create more Christie

jennytheproudconservative (Diary) Friday, June 18th at 2:37AM EST (link)

Thanks for the video. We need more politicians like this guy. Term limits would give us more politicians like him because politicians wouldn’t make decisions based on whether they would get re-elected or not, just like Christie.

In addition, politicians would be more likely to come in from the private sector and would therefore vote more favorably for the private sector, rather than voting favorably for government.

They have the most stringent term limits in the US

If I'm still living in NJ...

TheSophist (Diary) Saturday, June 19th at 9:10AM EST (link)

in 2012, you can bet dollars to donuts that it will be because of Chris Christie.

But, everybody relax about this whole Christie for President 2012 business.

1. NJ needs him right now.

2. Let Christie prove something beyond some great speeches.

3. Others can lead in 2012. Christie will still be there in 2016 or 2020. He’s a young man still.

A good and necessary idea. If we can get some new examples of how conservative principles work where liberal ones don’t, more people will be convinced. He needs to stay where he is and finish the job.

“The press is so powerful in its image-making role that it can make a criminal look like he’s the victim and make the victim look like he’s the criminal. If you aren’t careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed and loving the people who are doing the oppressing.”– Malcolm X, Audubon Ballroom, December 13, 1964

What I like about this

SteveLA (Diary) Saturday, June 19th at 11:40AM EST (link)

Governor Christie obviously cares about his state and what sort of state he is going to leave behind for his kids, but there’s so much more to like about what he’s doing.

1) He’s telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth on fiscal matters.
2) He’s not afraid of telling the truth.
3) He’s not running for the next office, or it appears a second term in office by not telling people the cold hard facts of the truth of the fiscal conditions his state is in.
4) He’s talking to the people in his state like adults and not pandering.
5) He’s taking responsibility for his actions and making hard decisions, because that’s what people elected him to do. WHAT A CONCEPT

Dang, I’d vote for this guy for just about any Federal office.
