Umm, Jon Stewart said what?

Jaw dropping, but true

NEW YORK – Jon Stewart hammered Jim Cramer and his network, CNBC, in their anticipated face-off on “The Daily Show.”In an interview taped Thursday afternoon that went far beyond its allotted time, Stewart repeatedly chastised the “Mad Money” host and CNBC for putting entertainment above journalism. He also accused the financial news network of wilfully ignoring corporate dishonesty.

The mind boggles, the jaw drops. I got nothin’. You?

This RS 4.0 (or is it 3.11?) screwed me up.

Changes coming! If you see these comments, I’ve already fixed it!

There isn’t a way for ordinary folks to include video and do other stuff that we can do with our own blogs, so people expect to see at least two or three fully thought out paragraphs of your own writing to analyze the truth of the news and/or its implications.

The irony is rich,

And Jon Stewart is apparently NOT into self-reflection.

to be fair, Stewart said his show was

for entertainment. But we know that the young mushbrains take it as real news, fair and balanced.

I did not watch the show, what happened

Doc Holliday (Diary) Thursday, March 12th at 10:50PM EST (link)

was leaked anyway. It seems Cramer Kowtowed to Stewart and basically asked for forgiveness and an autographed photo. All this week Cramer has changed his tune on his show, I think the higher ups reminded him GE and NBC are supposed to be Obama fans.

In fact I noticed a leftward shift in CNBC daytime programming today. All of a sudden the lefty Donny Deustch is on during the market hours and the few other regular lefties on CNBC had a lot more airtime. Normally you see Santelli off and on all day, I did not see him once when I had it on for a few hours. One day is just one day, but I have a feeling the lefty honchos are trying to reign in those dirty capitalists at CNBC.

Not really the same thing

Granted, I’m not always the biggest fan of the Daily Show, but I remember Stewart going on the old Crossfire show and getting called on this whenever he was ripping on Tucker Carlson and Paul Begala for being irresponsible with their debates. Like Stewart said, “You’re on CNN. The show that leads into me is puppets making crank phone calls.”

If you’re not networking, you’re not helping.

Stewart vs. Cramer

justatron (Diary) Friday, March 13th at 8:37AM EST (link)

I watched a few minutes of this last night and just couldn’t take it. I used to really like The Daily Show, but it seems that Stewart’s insufferable ego just gets bigger and bigger and bigger, and man was it on display last night.

Stewart wants to have it both ways…he wants to be an “entertainer” while still being able to hammer his leftist views on someone like Cramer. Now, I’m not defending Cramer or his show, but for Stewart to go off on him for not being able to draw the line between entertainment and reporting, then devote the whole half-hour of his purported “comedy” program to the type of interview that you would see on a real news program was just pure hypocrisy.

The great irony here is that he and Cramer are trying to do pretty much the same thing in their shows. The difference is that Cramer’s on a real news network while Stewart is on Comedy Central. If Cramer should have been out there hammering the real culprits of the current economic crisis (the evil, evil corporations, of course), then Stewart had the same responsibility on his program too.

Here is the difference...

CNBC is a financial network.

Jon Stewart is on Comedy Central.

“Broadly speaking, liberalism emphasizes individual rights and equality of opportunity. … including extensive freedom of thought and speech, limitations on the power of governments, the rule of law, the free exchange of ideas, a market or mixed economy”
