As if we needed another reminder that 2020 is insane, here we have another story illustrating what this year has wrought. Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani was allegedly caught on film laying on a bed with his hands down his pants in front of a twenty-something woman.

Yes, you read that right.

The footage was part of a scene in actor and filmmaker Sacha Baron Cohen’s sequel to “Borat,” a mockumentary film that came out in 2006. The film, titled “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm,” is scheduled to be released on Amazon Prime on Oct 23.

Giuliani, who also serves as President Trump’s personal attorney, was reportedly recorded putting his hand down his pants while stretched out on a bed in a hotel room in front of a young lady who was really an actress playing the 15-year-old daughter of Borat, the film’s protagonist. The encounter between the two began as a fake interview for a made-up conservative news outlet.

During the conversation, Giuliani is reported as being flirtatious with the young lady. Later, the two go into the hotel room, which was bugged with hidden cameras. According to The Guardian

“After she removes his microphone, Giuliani, 76, can be seen lying back on the bed, fiddling with his untucked shirt and reaching into his trousers. They are then interrupted by Borat who runs in and says: ‘She’s 15. She’s too old for you.’”

The scene was filmed back in July and Giuliani originally reported the incident to the police. “ This guy comes running in, wearing what I would say was a pink transgender outfit,” he told The New York Post. “This person comes in yelling or screaming, and I thought this must be a scam or a shakedown, so I reported it to the police. He then ran away,” the former mayor added.

A still photo from the footage was posted on social media showing Giuliani reaching into his pants. The Guardian notes that Giuliani seemed to believe that the woman was coming on to him and that the encounter was “consensual.”

Cohen has a reputation for pranking influential people by luring them into questionable and embarrassing situations. When he is targeting politicians, he typically focuses only on Republicans. In one case, he tricked a clueless Georgia state lawmaker named Jason Spencer into dropping his pants and shouting the “N word” repeatedly.

When he spoke to reporters in July, Giuliani seemed to be a good sport about the prank. “I am a fan of some of his movies, Borat in particular, because I’ve been to Kazakhstan,” he told Page Six

He continued, recalling that he didn’t figure out that the filmmaker had pranked him until later. “I only later realized it must have been Sacha Baron Cohen,” he said. “I thought about all the people he previously fooled and I felt good about myself because he didn’t get me.”

Of course, progressive media is attempting to paint this situation as a major scandal, with several headlines implying that Giuliani is “facing tough questions” because he was caught in a “compromising” position. But the truth is that he engaged in no illegal activity and he’s not married, so the left won’t even be able to concoct a sordid adultery scandal. Moreover, there is no evidence that he believed that the female character was supposed to be only 15-years-old.

In the end, it seems that Giuliani wrongly believed that he was going to get some action when he was really going to be used for entertainment. There isn’t much here that could be used to create a smear campaign.

However, if we put our tinfoil hats on for a minute, we might be a little suspicious of the fact that this footage was given to the media just the day after Giuliani exposed the fact that Hunter Biden allegedly acted inappropriately with underage girls and texted his father, former Vice President Joe Biden about it.

Perhaps the footage was already intended to be released to the media a few days before the premiere of the film. But the timing still seems to be a bit too convenient, doesn’t it?
