If Bush had asked for emails spreading disinformation about one of his policies to be sent to the White House, I would defend him too. The fact is that until there’s a shred of evidence that the president is planning round people up for sedition, it’s slander to claim that he is. Both Bush and Obama are American presidents and while they deserve to be criticised for their flaws, they don’t deserve to be slandered.

Yeah right … this bit of fair-mindedness only became operational on Jan. 20. And no, no one here said that Obama is planning to round people up for sedition – that’s your stupidity talking. In other words, no one slandered Obama in that way.

And finally, you were not banned “covertly” – you should have sat back and observed more before deciding to jump in with silly snark. Moe quite clearly used the magic word “Blam” and very overtly sent you to The Pile™.

And as for respectful, what we mean here is that you get what you earn. If you had sat back and observed RS before parachuting in with both feet down your throat, you’d know you don’t come around spouting snark and building straw men and expect us to be all sweetness and light.

I notice nobody is taking me up on my bet, which tells me that you don’t really believe that anyone is getting carted off for sedition either.

You talk about ‘you mendacious fools’ – which I should point out isn’t respectful either – as though I were a Democrat. I happen to be a conservative. I’ve never voted for the Democrats. I think Obama is a man, not a saviour, and I’m not aware of the USA running any concentration camps during either administration. So what you’re saying is that it’s okay to insult me, to lie to me, and to generally break the rules of civilised discourse because of the actions of some left-wing kooks who I’ve never met?

And again, if I was banned – covertly – for being condescending, what about the person who said that they would ‘come for me first’? How in God’s name can you spin that as being respectful?

I’d be happy to discuss the issue of rationing with you and share my thoughts on what a good healthcare system should entail, but we don’t have an honest and open forum here in which to hold that discussion.

The idea that the executive branch could somehow conduct a “false rumor” campaign and be nonpartisan in the effort is ludicrous.

Other posters have well covered the issue of sedition politics and the fact that we all need to be concerned. I will add that I would be equally concerned if a conservative administration proposed this type of data collection.

The White House is asking people to forward emails (which contain IP information which can identify dissenters) to a White House address. Imagine if the President were a Republican and lie to us that you wouldn’t be screaming about it, why don’t you?

Be honest; if it were George W. Bush in the White House who asked people to forward emails criticizing the Iraq War to a White House email address the ACLU would be throwing a fit, instead of twisting itself into pretzels as it is now to protect a Democratic President.

You mendacious fools have been screaming about incipient Concentration Camps for the past eight years … and now it turns out that your own man-god is more given to Fascistic courses of action (including sending thugs to town hall meetings) than his much-maligned predecessor.

PS: Being polite does not include condescending snark – which is why you got booted. And anyway, Kossacks routinely ban/bury anyone who fails to toe the party line, no matter how polite – heck, Hillary supporters last year bore the brunt of it. Apparently it works for them. And finally, socialized healthcare in every nation that has tried it sooner or later starts prioritizing patients and rationing treatment to save costs. Obama’s top aide on healthcare (who happens to be Rahm Emanuel’s brother) is already on record as favoring denying treatment to the chronically infirm, the elderly and young children on purely utilitarian grounds.

In other words, sort out your own BS before you presume to lecture anyone here.
